Description of Work: Dayco installed a heat pump at my home in 2001, and maintained it for 14 years. Their prices seemed "middle of the road" at the time, and their technicians have been punctual, courteous, and (apparently) competent. Until recently, I would have given them an A rating all around. In late December 2015, however, they sent a salesman to my house who was either badly misinformed or lying in an attempt to close a sale before I had time to research my options fully. Details follow: | |Shortly before Christmas, my heat pump began to make an ominous noise. It was due for maintenance anyway, so I had the technician check it out. He told me I had a bad fan. Replacement would ordinarily cost over $800,the technician said, but with "loyalty discounts" they would do it for about $650. Due to the age of the system, however, he strongly recommended I replace it, and wanted to send a salesman to the house later that day. I did a little research and found there is an argument for replacing a 14 year old system, so I let Dayco send a salesman out after the holidays (December 29). | |The salesman gave me an estimate on a new system that seemed reasonable ($6000ish), but he insisted I needed to make a decision almost immediately so I could qualify for a $1000 rebate "from the City of Kennewick" which would expire at the end of 2015. Really, I would need to sign the next day (12/30) so there would be time to process the paperwork. I was immediately suspicious, since the City of Kennewick handles water and sewer, not power. I called the Benton PUD, and learned that it is the PUD offering the rebate, and that this rebate will be available well into 2017. The person I spoke to at the PUD was surprised at the blatant untruth the salesman had told me, and gave me the name of a supervisor to call at Dayco. I did. The supervisor verified that it is the PUD offering the rebate and that it will continue to be available for many months to come. She did not say anything else or apologize for the misinformation given to me by the salesman. | |I got some more estimates and decided to gamble that repairs with another company will keep my heat pump running a few more years. Without any "loyalty discounts" a new fan cost just under $600. I haven't heard anything from Dayco since, although they have mailed me one letter offering an expensive service contract on my old system and another offering a "deal" on a new one. Both letters went into recycling. I no longer do business with Dayco.

Description of Work: Requested seasonal maintenance for the HVAC system and they set me up on the monthly payment for ongoing service. They called and canceled the first appointment a few hours before they were scheduled to arrive. Rescheduled and the no-showed the appointment entirely. When I caked to cancel the maintenance membership and request my first payment back the receptionist made it sind like that wouldn't be an option. The supervisor caked back and was wing to refund my payment.

Description of Work: Replace autoigniter in electric furnace. Procedure required a bit of trial and error since new part, although numbered the same as the original part, had a few modifications which required a reset of several operating parameters. The technician did a good job of tracing the problem and providing a solution.

Dayco showed up on time every time (bid, rough in, and trim work). The workers were right on top of what needed to be done and were able to get it done in a timely fashion. All of my questions were answered and all the work looked clean and tidy. Made it through the electrical inspection with no issues or corrections. I would recommend them to anyone, and use them again in the future.

Dayco has always done an excellent job, including this visit. I am convinced that their service on this 30+ year old heating and air conditioning system during the last 10+ years has kept it in good running order. They usually suggest that a new system/heat pump would be better than the old furnace and A/C that keep cranking along.

I called for an estimate, and a very nice salesman came out to check it out. He quoted me $3500 for the entire job. The workers were late, walked in with extremely muddy shoes (and did not wipe them on the mat provided), did what they claimed was a thorough job, and left. I got a bill for $5500, and went to the office to straighten it out. The owner SCREAMED at her husband, the co-owner, and the employees in front of me. For 15 minutes without stopping. I did pay the $5500, and about a month later, had to hire someone else to do the job correctly.

Service went well. The repairman arrived on time and was here for around an hour. At one point I found him outside in his truck eating his lunch, but he told me he was running an equipment check at the time and it had to be on fo a certain amount of time. I found this strange to be having lunch on and quot;my timeand quot;.

During the hottest week of the summer (over 100 every day) our ancient AC unit died. Within an hour of calling we had a very professional and knowledgeable salesperson in our home. He gave us three estimates one to fix just what needed to be repaired immediately, one that fixed the immediate problem and propped up the rest of the antiquated system for somewhere down the road and finally one to replace it all with new. he did not push any one of the options and he also provided us with financing information and information on rebate programs that were available through our local utility company the equipment is top notch! the sales team is great to work with and the installation handled efficiently and thankfully very quickly. I would recommend Dayco to anyone without reservation.we could not be more pleased with their services.

The person they sent out to fix the unit was more out to sell us on a new unit. He said we would be better off buying a new one since the core was bad. I contacted another company to review what they were saying and he confirmed that this was their approach. He was able to come out and fix the unit for under 200 and it only took him about an hour and a half from start to finish.
Description of Work: The air condition went out and we needed them to do a diagnostic test on the system. They told us that the core was bad and that some bad cores were made by the company at the time.

Prior to the actual service date, he had visited earlier to check on the problem and for this I was charged $74.90 plus tax which is their minimum charge for a service call. On this visit, he did nothing except replace the furnace filter even though I hadn't asked him to do so. On the second visit he replaced the condensate pump for $248.66 plus tax and then he checked the heat pump and this again was his idea. The service person was not too friendly but he did the job and it looked like he did all the extras to justify the extra $74.90 that he was charging for nothing especially since I was paying for the repair in addition to that.
Description of Work: Replaced furnace condensate pump
