Boyd came out looked over the proposed work, wrote up a bid and talked high quality work. The agreement was to repair 2 sections of fence, replacing wooden post with metal post reinforced with cement, using some of the fence boards that were still good. also install a new gate and section of fence on the south side of property which had blown down. He made a bid of $2100 which seemed high but he assured me of a high quality fence & gate. I hired him on Saturday or Sunday, He was out Monday or Tuesday did the work and was waiting for me about 4:00 pm. It was dark out, so it was hard to see the work quality. I did that evening point out that his men didn't attach the runners to the post with post brackets. It appeared that the gate was ok, but the next day when I could see it was a different game. He came back the next day & placed post brackets on the north fence. He also observed the cement footing, the top edge of the footing had been knocked off, after they removed the support boards from the footing, you could see that pouring the cement was a lousy job, the cement didn't fill the space properly. There were big gaps where it should have been smooth finish. The footing wasn't even level with the contour of the lot. After a few days the cement wasn't dry, at that time Boyd said he would come back and re-pour the cement, this was back in late January or early February, It is now July 7,2013 and this man has not made any attempt to repair or do anything to satisfy his customer. On the proposal he said the gate holding rod would be plenty strong for our high winds, the next week after the work, the winds bent the rod & busted more of the footing. Boyd & talked on the phone several times, he promised he would be out the following Monday or Tuesday, he never showed up. This happened about 5 or six times, then he quit answering my calls & after that never returned my calls. have a footing which is far from a professional job & a gate the wind can literally destroy. This man as it appears isn't honest or does he care about his customers. Give me the money and by.
Description of Work: Installed new gate with cement footing, repaired two sections of fence that wind had blown down.

I contacted one of the rock suppliers to ask for a recommendation for someone to lay a flagstone patio for me and they recommended Boyd. He came by my house and measured the space and told me it would cost $1800 to do the patio. I had gotten a bid from another contractor, known to be rather pricey, for $3500. When Boyd showed up with the contract to sign, it was for the same price that the other contractor had quoted me. Boyd said he had originally given me the cost of materials. This should have been a red flag but I went ahead and signed the contract. Boyd's workers did a fine job of grading the area for the patio. Water runs away from the house as it should. The materials are held together by a edging. However, the flagstones are up and down and many of them wobble. I was told that they would settle into the sand material. I was told that after some settling Boyd would return and put more sand around the stones. In fact , they left sand spread out on the side of the house. However, they never returned. In addition to the patio they put in block steps from the kitchen. When I noted a big gap between the blocks and suggested that two of them be turned to see if the gap could be eliminated, the worker responded that sand would fill the crack. To show me, he put a little sand in the crack that fell straight through to the ground. They also damaged the mailbox with the bobcat.
Description of Work: Boyd put in a flagstone patio and block steps from the kitchen down to the patio.
