The estimate we got was VERY reasonable, but they really came through. They had to delay a day because of the weather, but they communicated the change effectively. Also, they had to come back do some tough up on the door (around the edges behind the weather stripping) because we had to have it closed while they were doing the main job. We worked it out and they came back to finish - no questions asked. I've recommended them to several friends who have upcoming jobs.
Description of Work: Painted exterior of house and trim using Sherwin-Williams A100 paint. Tim and one his guys came out - where fast, professional, and did a very quality job. We had a couple faces of siding that are old cedar and tough to paint. Allpoint didn't skimp and went over those areas several times to get it as good as possible. The main siding was sprayed and the trim was hand painted. We also changed the color of our trim from dark to light, which also required multiple coats. Finally, we changed our metal door to a red color - also not an easy job.

My wife and I were leary about going with All Points Painters after reading a previous review, but decided to take a chance after we met Tim, the owner. Work got off to slow start due to weather (rain, wind). Once weather cleared, work was done pretty quickly. Tim was there performing and overseeing the work regularly. He was very friendly and clear on what he would do for the agreed price, the materials and warranties, and how he would perform the work. All work was completed as expected with no surprises, and they immediately took care of the punchlist items from our list. My wife and I are pleased that we took the chance and hired All Points to do the painting for us, and are very satisfied with the quality of the work performed, and the professionalism of All Points.

On July 9, 2013, I, Mike McCoy, contracted with All Point Painters (Mr. Tim Brown) to paint the entire outside of our house including restoring our front door and side lights, as well as paintng the majority of the inside of the house. At this time, Mr. Brown requested and received a down payment of 50%. After pressure washing the outside, the contractor was a few days late from when he committed to start the painting, but the entire outside was repainted all but the front door and side lights which were not addressed. (We were to discover that Mr. Brown did not feel the need to communicate changes in dates and would miss dates and then just show up when he wanted.) Mr. Brown at that point requested payment for the remaining 50% for materials and labor for painting the outside of the house. He indicated it would be a financial hardship if he had to wait until the final job was completed. Mr. Brown was paid the requested amount. Mr. Brown said that he needed to check with a paint representative to see how best to handle the front door area since it had been finished with a gel coat and he had not previously used that product. The “rep” came to our house with Mr. Brown and we discussed the path forward. Supposedly, the “gel coat” had to be ordered from California. Mr. Brown returned a couple of days later and we selected a color from the color charts he brought and he was to order the “gel coat”. After once again missing the promised start date for painting when they addressed the inside of the house, All Point Painters finally completed the inside painting and Mr. Brown again requested payment for materials and labor leaving $150 of the total original contract estimate to cover the front door, saying the gel coat should arrive within a week and the work could be completed then. Once again we paid the requested amount. Since he was paid, we have been unable to get Mr. Brown to return any phone calls. He will not answer on his cell phone nor respond to messages left. He did not return a call and message left with his assistant (?) at his office number. We have tried for over six weeks now and cannot get him to respond. My wife (Nadine Highland) and I have since researched the coating on the front door and side lights and determined that it is readily available locally (by talking to his paint source, Pittsburg Paint). However, the door and side lights (which are fiberglass) must be stripped of the current coating and a new one applied. A kit at ProBuild costs $80+. Clearly the price of materials plus labor for stripping the door and reapplying the coating will exceed the $150. My wife and I are senior citizens and we researched All Point Painting on the Washington State contractor site – no complaints in the previous six years. We trusted Mr. Brown. He clearly took advantage of this trust and is not fulfilling the contract that he signed with us. To get another contractor in to complete this relatively small job is estimated to cost at least $500. Mr. Brown has clearly “cherry picked” the work and left the part he didn’t want to do for us to deal with as we may. We are left with an eyesore at our front door (more so due to their pressure washing) and rapidly changing weather. We are not sure the work can even be done effectively yet this year. We are not sure that Mr. Brown would do an adequate professional job if forced to comply for the remaining $150 under contract. We further suspect that Mr. Brown knew from the beginning the challenges presented by the door (he is an experienced professional painter, right?) and planned this outcome. We even suspect the “paint representative” he brought to our house was not one. If he is, then he should support our discussions held in his presence. We feel others should be warned about this unscrupulous contractor taking advantage of senior citizens.
Description of Work: Painted outside of house and most of inside.

Response from All Point Painters
hello, in response to Mr. McCoy's comments I respond like this.. First yes we did delay the exterior a few days due to windy conditions, we will not apply paint when the weather conditions are not suitable for the conditions, I communicated this with the customer and when the job was completed as far as the exterior painting went we did a walk around for inspection and he was very happy. The interior date was set, we helped sort through many gallons of paint in his possession to ensure the proper color was used, our guys showed up on time, performed the work specified, I again walked the project afterward with no complaints. the exterior of the front door was not completed but money was withheld to cover this work. I am sorry that the customer seems to feel that he was not treated properly.
