Pruning, Landscaping, Hardscaping, & Tree Service provided personally by a Board-Certified Master Arborist.
Steve came to our home, examined the tree, patiently discussed the condition of the tree and told me the plus and minuses of the various alternatives. During the dicussion he did not attempt to sway me one way or the other and left the decision up to me. Once the decision was made he gave me a firm price and set a date and time to do the work. He arrived at the scheduled time and performed the job very well, His work was very professional and he left the work site clean, neat, and tidy. I would recommend him to anyone.
Description of Work: Problem, - large fir tree encroaching onto and over patio. Steve determined the tree was health, and discussed the alternatives available to correct problem. Solution was to remove the lower limbs of the tree, which opened up the large back yard and significantly improved the esthetics. Steve also suggested and put on 3 " of mulch to protect the roots.

Steve arrived promptly at the appointed time. After walking around the house and discussing the work I needed done, he provided me with an estimate which I accepted and he was able to do the work that day. He completed all the pruning I needed done and thoroughly cleaned up the yard afterwards. He was very professional, conscientious, extremely hard working and as a Master Arborist he's incredibly knowledgeable. He was a pleasure to work with and the trees look beautiful. I'll hire him again to do more pruning in the fall.
Description of Work: Maple trees and pine trees were trimmed away from the house in preparation for painting. Several trees with foliage growing into each other were trimmed back. Dead limbs were removed from several trees.

We were extremely impressed with Mr. Lambert and would recommend him to anyone with concerns about tree and landscaping issues. We will be working further with him this Fall when he will return to complete some other work that we discussed but to wait the beginning of the dormant season. Mr. Lambert is a board-certified master arborist who is very aware of at-risk trees. He found two on our property which will be dealth with later in the year.
Description of Work: Mr. Lambert cut down and removed two trees and dug out and removed two shrubs -- all of which were diseased or dead. He took care of three other smaller trees by removing too much compost from around plantings and rearranging material to provide better growth for these plants.

Overall, I am very impressed. Steve is one of the few master arborists in Washington state. He cares about the environment, trees and wildlife and ecouraged me to keep a large holly that i was considering cutting in case the raccons are nessting there. He also not only cleaned up all the tree branches, he invited me to put my cuttings from rhodedrun bushes (which were alot) and rose bushes in his truck which was additionally helpful. Whether I am done with racoon destruction remains to be seen. Hopefully, his cutting will discourage them from going on my one story roof. My neighbor had seen them jumping from the trees to my roof and back to the trees. I was relieved at his prompt arrival and efficient workmanship. We will see if it was also effective.
Description of Work: Steve came right out at my 5pm call. very impressive response. I have a racoon eating my roof through the wood and needed to get trees cut back to eliminate access. He understood the situation and cut back the trees to the property line with "directional" cutting to, hopefully, stop it growing towards my roof and redirect new growth towards my neighbors yard. He was very sensitive to property boundary issues yet able to perform the work thoroughly and in a manner that was beneficial to the trees on my neighbors property. He listened to my requests and did what I asked in a pleasant manner. Overall he cut back branches that were overhanging my property and allowing the raccons to get on my roof and eat through it in an attempt to nest and have babies. Because of his outstanding and prompt work, I hope i do not have to take more drastic measures to get rid of the racoons.

Steve is easy to work with and gave us great results. Before contracting he communicated very well - he helped us understand options, materials and prices for the project without any sense of pressure. He suggested a natural uncut White River basalt fit together rather than cut or preformed materials. He designed the project to fit our aesthetic and our current budget (and in a way that makes future enhancements easy to integrate.) Steve has an artist's eye and high standards, so even though this was a very modest project he took his time and optimized the look and feel, adding several 'grace notes' that make the bed really beautiful. Steve communicated clearly what he was going to do, how and when - and then he did what he said (including cleaning up at the end of each work day.) At each stage of the project he showed us the work, answered questions and gave us options. Altogether - everything you want when hiring a professional.
Description of Work: Install rockery next to driveway, and on back side of planting bed bordering lawn. Remove old timbers. Remove Juniper by rootball, remove hedge along entry walk.

Overall - satisfactory. This is the first arborist I have hired. I think the cost to perform the quantity of work required to stabilze the Japenese Maple is somewhat excessive, But he seems to know what is happening with the tree, and so far things have gone well. We have agreed to have four additional trees thinned at a much lower cost per tree, (+/- $300/tree) including removal of trimmings and cleanup of the work area.
Description of Work: A very nice, large Japenese maple had split at the confluence of one of several trunks. After about a week following the initial call to ask for an inspection, Lambert made it out and reviewed the damage. He formulated a plan to trim - thin the branches and folage 9to reduce the weight on the split) plus installing a bolt to pull the split together or keep it from continuing to split further. The trimming process toke place over a week period as several storms slowed his ability to work. Once complete the tree looks much better and should recover fully. Additional work will be required next year.

Steve was responsive, courteous, pleasant, personable and thorough. We are very pleased with the work he did and would not hesitate to recommend him or use him again.
Description of Work: We were having problems with squirrels getting in behind the wall in our family. They would climb on the trees, shrubs and rhododendrons that were a little close to the house and use them as a ladder to access the roof. Then they'd slip into tiny spaces under the eaves. In addition to locating and sealing of their entrances, it was recommended that we also prune back the trees, etc. It was very important to us that the work be done in a careful and respectful manner so as to ensure the continued health and well being of trees. We got several estimates and, after speaking with Steve, felt confident that he was the best one for the job. He certainly wasn't the cheapest, but he is a master arborist so we wouldn't expect to pay the same amount as say, for example, the logger who was ready to play hack and slash.

It was great! Steve came by in the morning for a quote (the last of 4 I had scheduled in the past week). He seemed the most knowledgeable and gave me his honest feedback about what should/shouldn't be done to the trees. He gave me a quote, with the Angie's List discount (was mid-range of the quotes I received), and was able to start that day. He does all the work himself - no hiring of random contractors. He was extremely conscientious about making sure aesthetics & screening were maintained, as well as the health of the tree, which many overlook. He checked with me a couple times to make sure what I wanted was being done, answering my questions and providing expertise. I'm very happy with his work - he did exactly what I asked without making any of the trees look like they were hacked back, he cleaned up thoroughly afterward, and my yard has more light and space for the additions I'm planning. Would definitely recommend to others!
Description of Work: Pruned and cleaned up several trees in our yard: a large cedar needed lifting and cutting away from power lines, a few trees from the neighbors' yards overhung our roof, deck and fence lines - some of those were cut back; a large magnolia was lifted, pruned & redirected growth into open areas, and a smaller magnolia was pruned.

They gave me a good quote. It looked like a local business and was run by a father and son. They seemed to be honest in respect of doing a good job. The only problem with them was that they overestimated the work. They came out on one of the very hot days in the summer and this made the work much more difficult. I gave them water as well as bananas. I was just trying to keep them hydrated, as it was very hot. The guy who came out had to keep sharpening his chainsaw, due to the amount of work. They were there all day until 7 in the evening, and because of the conditions, were unable to finish. We were under the impression that they would come back and finish the job, but they never did. I had paid them the full amount, as it was a reasonable price. The owner of the company did, however, finally get in contact with me. He was very apologetic and explained the situation and why he was unable to finish. Since I had already gotten the job done, he offered to do some work for me at no charge whenever I need it in the future. I appreciated his honesty, integrity, and follow-up and I will definitely call him again.

Steve came out for a tree evaluation. He definitely made me feel much better about the health of three giant pine trees in my back yard. While he was there, he noticed a few young trees the previous owners had planted, where the roots were planted way too deep. He took it upon himself to free the roots so the trees would have a chance. Very great work and I'll definitely be calling him up again for help should I need it.

At the time of the estimate Steve offered a thoughtful discussion regarding the kind of pruning that would be both healthy for the trees and meet our needs in terms of light, privacy and keeping the branches away from the house. He did the work at a time when I could be home so that we could carefully select the branches to be pruned. He was patient, careful and informative. He spent a good amount of time doing the work, and his clean-up was thorough. I found him to be a very knowledgeble resource with a real commitment to his profession.
Description of Work: We have two large trees in our yard, a Coastal Redwood and a Douglas Fir. We needed pruning of some branches that were too close to the house, as well as to increase the light while still maintaining privacy. And the long term health of the trees was very important to us.

Steve arrived promptly at the agreed time and was very professional and knowledgable in all departments of tree care, identifying the many different species on our property and issues concerning the health of those trees due to mismanagement in the past. He identified a few trees in less than perfect health, and one tree in serious decline which he considered to be potentially a problem if not removed. We live in an Environmentally Critical Area (ECA) which raises numerous issues in terms of landcare management, and Steve was able to provide me with information on these issues and the processes involved. He offered to make himself available for any follow-up issues if required. I highly recommend his services.

Steve was exceptionally responsive--quick call back and quick appointment. He was generous with his time and his expertise, patiently explaining and answering all of our questions. He summarized the tree challenges we face and helped us understand some of our options. Not a small part of what he does is homeowner education. (Note: If you are just looking for someone to tell you what you want to hear, don't hire Steve: he is sensitive to a great obligation--to the health of a tree and to safety, as well as enjoyment, over its full lifetime, not just during the tenancy of an owner. I wish the previous owners had received and followed such good advice.)

Steve came out to our home in the early evening on 9/15 to evaluate what we needed to have done. We called him because of his qualifications as listed on Angie's List and the positive reports that he had received. He was on time, courteous, and explained what was needed in very clear terms so that both my husband and I could understand. There was one tree that my husband thought should be removed and Steve explained why it did not need to be and how it benefited surrounding trees by being there. He explained why another tree had to be removed--because of its very thin diameter vs. its height, it was a risk for falling down in a wind storm. He showed us how he would thin trees on power lines and the roof. He did the job about 8 days later. I was out of town and my husband was at school. When my husband came home, the yard was immaculate. Everything had been picked up. As he had promised, the trees he worked on looked very good. It would have been hard to tell where he thinned the trees if we had not known in advance what was to be done. He did a very very careful job and we recommend him to anyone. He gave us a 10% discount for being on Angie's list. My husband thought we got more than our money's worth.

Mr. Lambert arrived punctually for our initial appointment, gave me the estimate, and was back the next day to remove the 2 trees. He also disposed of the piles of dead branches I had already sawed off the trees. There was no debris or sawdust in the yard, and the patio under the hemlock was so clean he must have vacuumed it. Outstanding job!

Some of the branches of a large fir were either on the powerlines going from the pole to the house or were close. My neighbor and I were concerned that the branches would eventually break the lines and more expensive repairs would need to be done. Neither of us were willing to climb a ladder and remove the branches ourselves, so I called Steve. Steve's crew removed the limbs of the tree and also removed some of the encroaching ivy climbing the tree. They left the job neat and tidy. The only evidence that they had been there was that the job was done very well. Excellent work.
