Pruning, Landscaping, Hardscaping, & Tree Service provided personally by a Board-Certified Master Arborist.
Steve Lambert scheduled to meet on a short notice, around my work schedule, to provide me an estimate of the pruning work that was needed. He was on time, provided good advice on what we should have done as the trees had been neglected for many years. He provided me with what I believed was a fair and reasonable bid to complete the work. When I agreed to the price and asked when he could complete the work he said he would start right then. Upon my return from work later that day, there was not one sign that he had been there. Everything was cleaned up, I could not find even a small branch he might have missed picking up. The shrubs were pruned, the tree branches we wanted removed were gone and the other pruning and shaping we had discussed were all complete. I will recommend Lambert Tree Care to anyone who asks, and I intend to have him back next year to continue the pruning and shaping required.

Mr. Lambert pruned our two large Japanese Maples and a pink dogwood. He really took his time and did a careful job, cleaning up everything after he was finished. We will definitely use him again.

Mr. Lambert is a Master Arborist and when deciding on which tree service to use, we decided we wanted expertise as much or more than we wanted labor. (We have had some bad experiences with tree "choppers" who left our trees permanently ugly and embarrassed.) Mr. Lambert is down-to-eath and to-the-point. He made his recommendations quickly, and did the work agreed upon immediately. We appreciated not having to make a second appointment after the estimate to get the work done. He removed all the debris from our yard when finished. The work was done about 7 months ago, the maple looks beautiful and the area along the fence will not need trimming again for another year. We will call upon him again when our trees need pruning again. Well worth the money!

Description of Work: I telephoned Steve about a couple of shrubs that don't look good & wanted him to come & give me his opinion as to whether they can be saved. I called me back & asked if I could take a couple of digital pictures of the shrubs and send then to him via email. I did that and he emailed back requesting that I call him to talk. We spoke and unfortunately he determined that one of the shrubs couldn't be saved and the other just needed to have the dead pieces pruned off but I should put a piece of white paper under the dead areas, shake the tree & see if any moving things come off onto the paper. if there were bugs I should call a service to spray. Otherwise just trim. He did this at no charge since he didn't have to come out.

We had a number of tree limbs resting on our roof - while we needed to have those limbs removed, I was very concerned that it would make the tree look lopsided. We also had a number of other trees (maple, firs, leyland cypress) that needed pruning. We asked Steve to come out and give us an estimate - he came out right on time and impressed us with his approach to tree maintenance. He talked about the trees' structural integrity and health and was able to give us a sense of what work he would do. We were happy with the estimate he gave so hired him to do the work. The result is absolutely amazing - the trees all look balances and full even though I can see that there was a lot of pruning done and all branches are now well away from the house. A few of our neighbors were so impressed that they are hiring him to do work for their trees as well. We will absolutely hire Steve for any future tree maintenance!

I reached out to Steve via the web. I didn't hear anything for a few days, or so I thought, but when I checked my voicemail there was a message from him. He'd been out to the house right away, identified the trees and and called to discuss. He sent me an estimate, gave a time to do the work. He showed up right on time and spent almost all day here. He took the time to discuss the diseased tree with my husband, including what course of action he recommends over the next few years. When he was done there was not so much as a stray leaf on the ground - he cleaned up completely. I would definitely recommend Steve and will hire him again.

I recieved a call from this member to provide an estimate for topping his neighbors Big leaf maple for view purposes. I declined to bid the job. As a Board-Certified Master Arborist it is my goal to provide proper tree care, to support the long term health, and sustainability of our urban trees. I should have been more specific with him by stating that I don't top "big trees".

Steve was knowledgeable, personable and professional. He was able to give me a quote of $200 for removal to the ground based on a photo that I emailed him. We had one small dead birch tree and possible damage to the one next to it. We were able to mutually agree on a day for him to come out in the same week. Steve arrived on time and gave us two choices of different approaches to the tree that was not dead - remove the top damaged portion for $100 which still carries a 50/50 chance that the tree will still die or remove the whole thing for $200. We decided that we would just have both of the trees removed for a total cost of $400 since he was already here and we didn't want to end up having to pay extra if we removed the damaged part and it ended up dying anyway. Steve did his work quickly and cleaned up very well after himself. The only clues that there used to be trees there are some remnants of sawdust and the two flat stumps that are even with the ground. I would definitely call on Steve again and recommend him to other Angie's Listers.

Steve arrived on time, did the work, and cleaned up very well. He knows what he is doing and what is possible while preserving the health of the trees. I described what I wanted and left him to decide the details, which he did extremely well. I'm very happy with the end result.

This was a fantastic experience. I highly recommend Steve to anyone who needs tree care. While his price may seem higher than some others, he is very efficient, extremely competent and I believe I saved money and most important my valuable trees and rhody. I would not hesitate to use him again. Patricia Boydston
Description of Work: Steve was fabulous. I have a very large Rhody that fell over a few years ago. I had to have a crane pick it up and then had it tied to wires to keep it upright. It has been top heavy for years but every time I had it trimmed it seemed to get worse. Steve came out to trim it and for the first time it is obviously correctly done. It looks fantastic and is much healthier. He took off about 6 feet taking ti down to about 14 feet and I am thrilled. Steve also trimmed some trees away from roof. It was so well done that you cannot tell they were trimmed. He was careful to maintain the balance of the trees and they look much better. He also evaluated a 12 foot hedge for me and recommenced what I needed to do to keep it in good condition.

It wasn't an emergency, but Steve was able to fit us in within a week of my call. He was incredibly professional and did such a wonderful job. He took care of about 20 trees for us, some needed major work, some minor. The trees look so much better, so much healthier. He even took the time to diagnose a neighbor's problem in two cedar trees in her yard after she saw him doing work for us. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone. He charged less than an arborist we used five years ago, too, and Steve's credentials are better!
Description of Work: Our beloved magnolia was towering over our roof and needed attention. Most of our trees needed attention, actually. We had a hedge of cedars that had been topped by previous owners and looked unhealthy, a lot of dead branches in the interior and little light getting in; a plum tree had lost part of a large branch in a storm and had a lot of dead wood; other plum and apple trees needed redirection and some trimming; a row of cedar trees that provide us with privacy had girdling roots; a maple planted too close to the house had grown up under the eave; a star magnolia had to be freed of dead wood on one side; an enormous birch that shades the west side of the house had branches growing over the deck that required trimming. All that and a lot of suckers and water shoots everywhere.

I wanted to get an estimate & opinion on pruning a beautiful, mature japanese maple leaf tree in my backyard -- specifically lifting the tree line away from the neighbor's garage roof and potentially thinning the canopy slightly to allow for more filtered light on the back patio. Since this tree is my favorite part of my garden, I only wanted to work with an ISA Certified Arborist. Found Steve's name on Angie's List and was familiar with his qualification as an ISA Board-Certified Master Arborist. Called on a Thursday morning and Steve said he would be out the same day to take a look at the tree and would call me back with his comments and an estimate that afternoon. I got a call back from Steve that same afternoon with his thoughts on the work we had discussed and an estimate for services that I felt was reasonable. Steve was able to schedule my job for that Saturday morning at 8am. He arrived promptly and spent a bit of extra time with me right off to discuss a couple of other areas in the yard that I wanted to get his thoughts on, then got to work. Steve worked by himself, moving efficiently through each project we discussed, cleaning up after himself as he moved through. When he had finished up around 2pm, Steve walked me through the work he performed, and also gave me several valuable tips on tree & plant health. All in all, Steve's work was excellent and I ended up learning a lot about my garden!

Steve couldn't have been nicer or more professional. He helped us determine what was wrong and we will be recommending him to anyone else in need of an arborhist.
Description of Work: We have a dogwood tree on our property that was suddenly shedding leaves this summer and not looking very healthy. We contacted Steve and he immediately responded back requesting we send him several photos of the tree. After receiving the photos he diagnosed the problem and told us the tree was diseased and sent us precise instructions about how to take care of the tree.

We bought a house about a year ago that has a number of large trees. We wanted to make sure that none of them were in danger of falling and decided to have an arborist come out. Mr. Lambert was extremely knowledgable and explained things clearly. We did end up with one large oak that needed to be removed and he actually recommended that we call around to other tree services in the area as they would be better equipped and probably able to do it cheeper. He gave us some good advice on what to look for when getting it removed and some things to ask for so we could get a cheaper quote. We were thrilled with his work and plan on having him come out every few years to reassess the trees and make sure everything is healthy.

Steve does excellent work and his knowledge and professionalism is exceptional. I will call him again for any tree service needs. I couldn't be more pleased. I think the level of work and the final outcome is worth the cost!
Description of Work: Prune/thin a large maple, remove a large birch, trim a weeping birch, prune a Japanese maple and prune an apple tree. The Birch tree that was removed was diseased and Steve recommended removal to protect my other birch tree. He also made great recommendations for a replacement tree for the area. The tree removal was a large job, and the root ball was removed as well. Steve replaced the tree boarder and cleaned out the area completely making it immediately ready for replanting.

Although we had originally gotten a slightly lower estimate from a different company, their tendency was to recommend entire removal of trees for seemingly small issues, and in general seemed to be looking at short-term immediate results. Mr. Lambert definitely came in with a much different approach, focusing on a long-term strategy to adjust the growth of the trees to shape them where we eventually wanted them to be, and really wanted to keep the trees healthy. And this showed through when he started working! My wife described it as being "like a documentary." Every cut was made with sure intention and precision. The end result looked great, too! We will definitely be calling Lambert Tree Care in the fall!

We had Steve remove some trees for us and trim other trees up. We were discussing our desires for other projects in the yard and Steve gave us a reasonable bid to do these projects. The work of removing the ivy was enormous. The ivy was probably planted in the 1960's or there abouts and had branches larger than some trees. It was taller than the chain link fence by about 3-4 feet. See photos. Steve had to try to match existing rock as we have extensive rock retaining walls in the yard and he did an excellent job. I've attached photos for this as well. The job also required extending an underground drain from a downspout that was put under a concrete patio earlier in the year to come out at the front of the new garden and it works great.

Steve Lambert was fabulous - very high quality work. We really loved how he takes the environment and habitat into account in his assessment. Due to the shortage of suitable snags in King County, we had him make one of our dead trees into a 30 ft. snag - this make for an excellent habitat for woodpeckers, owls and other cavity nesting birds; he even notched the top so it looked like a natural break. They were very professional, clean-up afterwards, always kept us appraised on status. Worth the money. Would absolutely use again. Two thumbs up!
Description of Work: Services performed: Did walk-through on entire property (approx. .7 acre) for assessment and provided recommendations. Returned at later date and logged out one large birch tree, cut down 2/3 large pine tree and created great snag with remaining 1/3 tree; trimmed back limbs hanging over roof, removed smaller maple tree growing too close to house, climbed up large cedar to evaluate potential tree risk and provide recommendation.

Service was prompt and excellent. Owner was very knowledgeable about the trees and pruned them taking into account the health of the trees while getting the branches away from the house. We have small children and he walked the property to make sure that there were no other dangers from dead trees or limbs. I was so impressed after getting the estimate and scope of work that I did not even call for other quotes. We will have him out if/when we need additional work on our trees.

Once we told Steve we wanted his company to do the work he told us he'd call in one week to schedule as he was going to a conference and he did call just as promised. He was able to come the very next day to do the work so we were thrilled to get it done so quickly. He and his son showed up on time and even though I had to be gone most of the day they worked quickly and at the end of the day 2 large trees were eliminated, a few smaller weed trees also eliminated, 3 large trees cleaned up with large low hanging branches removed and 27 arborvitae all trimmed to approximately 9 feet where some were probably almost twice that height. The yard was all cleaned up, raked, patios blown clean and the result is amazing. They took 95% of the branches and stumps with them and left us just a few pieces of firewood to give to neighbors. The yard is more open, feels larger, the large trees will be more healthy and we won't poke our eyes out walking around back there with low hanging branches. We couldn't be more pleased and are considering having him do a couple other landscaping projects for us.
Description of Work: Steve came to the house to discuss our trees and what we wanted trimmed, removed and our concerns about the trees. He showed up on time as scheduled, listened to us, asked questions and explained what he has learned about trees and our trees in particular through his Master Arborist certification. We felt really comfortable that he would do what was in the best interest of our trees to keep them healthy and would take our the ones we wanted removed without damaging two valuable Japanese Lace Leaf Maples near two different trees that would be removed.

My appt was 10:00 am and he showed up AT 10:00 am exactly. He gave me what I felt was a fair estimate, didn't try to sell me something I didn't really need, just what was required to keep the branches away from my roof to help with the raccoon problem. He showed up and did a thorough job and also cleaned up after himself. The yard and trees look great!
