Dave picked out several basalt boulders at their yard so I could see what he had in mind. I looked them over and discussed finding 2 or 3 more similar to what we had selected. The 3 man crew arrived on schedule with the rocks in a dump truck and a crane mounted on another truck. The crane had a long reach and an articulated jaw for handling the boulders. The crane operator was very skilled and safety minded. The results were even better than I had hoped for.
Description of Work: Set 7 large boulders in our front yard to compliment others we already had. Dave came over to meet with me and give me his ideas on a layout. He also suggested ways to save money on materials.

I needed to have some stumps removed that were located where the rockery was to be located. I told him I would have them removed and call when it was completed. I had problems finding someone to grind the stumps. They called to check on progress. When I said I was having problems finding someone he said he would get on it and in short order a tree service company came by and ground up the stump. That was above and beyond what I expected. The company was promptly on the job the following day. They were able to reuse some of my old boulders saving me some costs. Also, the amount of crushed was estimated but I was told more may be required but he wouldn't know until the rockery was in place. Suggestions were made as to the shape of the driveway to best serve access to the side yard and the garage. It's worked out very well and I can see my original idea would not have worked. I'm happy I was talked into a change from my original plan. As it turned out the original estimate did not change and no additional crushed was required. The driveway was made to be usable until I can get it repaved in the spring. I was so pleased I had them do another job at a house I was putting up for sale. Now the side yard there looks great too.
Description of Work: Installed a rockery out from the existing one to provide better access to the back garage and have it ready to get new asphalt when we returned from the winter in AZ.

I called Creative Rockeries and heard back from Bill the following day. He told me that they could come by the next day to provide an estimate on the job. So Dave called and was able to come for the estimate, and his price was less than half of the price another company gave me. I jumped at the offer and Dave said they could start the next day! He also pulled out a huge bush and hauled it away on the spot. The next day Dave showed up with another man and worked very hard in the rain building the perfect rock wall for our needs. It matched the existing rock wall on the lower level, but looked even better. He consulted me a few times to get my approval for things during the work. I paid him that day and everything was done in 24 hours after I met with him for the first time! Dave has been doing this work for 30 years and is very skilled and professional. I am very impressed with his work and wouldn't hesitate to use him again.
Description of Work: Dave Lind and another man put in a second level of rockery in my front yard so the lawn wouldn't slope. He also removed a huge bush that was in the way.

Dave was incredibly friendly, prompt, and hardworking. The job went smoothly and our yard looks so much better than before, and is much more accessible and functional for planting (we put in vegetables and annuals for the summer) and future landscaping. Our neighbors have all noted what a big improvement it is over what was there before after decades of neglect.
Description of Work: Our front yard was previously a downward sloping mess of weeds and mismatched plants that ended in a high retaining wall with a mess of bricks added to the top of by a former owner of the house. Dave removed the brick, as well as all of the weeds, other plants, and chunks of concrete that had been buried in the ground. He then terraced the yard into two level sections with low rock walls, and added some rocks on top of our concrete retaining wall to blend the look with the wall and level off the entire yard. In the terracing, he nicely accommodated the one plant we kept--an old rose bush--and built in rock stairs that lead from the top terrace to the bottom one. He added a new layer of top soil across the entire yard and graded it for good drainage.

Creative Rockeries does outstanding A+++ work. Dave is amazing. Our job included leveling the front yard and building up the existing rock wall and adding a new one, as well as installing granite 6-foot steps. Dave had excellent suggestions and listened to our ideas and shared his. He is an expert at this and we were extremely happy not only with the end result, but every step of the process. We will definitely use them again for our next job, which we are planning for the spring. I would recommend Creative Rockeries to anyone without hesitation. Dave is our go-to person now, and I look forward to the magic he does on our next joy in the spring.

Bill scheduled an estimate for a Tuesday, but stopped by the weekend before to preview the work. By Tuesday, he knew exactly what needed to be done, and had located the necessary materials (apparently, concrete culvert pipe is difficult to find these days). He provided a written estimate which I accepted immediately and paid the deposit. He called a day or two later to schedule the work. He arrived with his crew on-time and the work was completed in just a few hours. They left the site clean and tidy. The finished product is just what we wanted.
Description of Work: Reassembled partially-collapsed rockery, installed new section of concrete culvert, cleared debris and re-graded drainage ditch.

The stones he brought were exactly the right size and were placed right where we discussed. The entry step was a very special rock and he had gone way out of his way to get. It has really set off the garden opening very beautifully. He also did some extra work with the some small rocks he had left over. The work was very hard, all on steep slope. He and his son worked very quickly and the job was done faster than I had thought it would be. I am very pleased with the work and plan to have them do more this year. All was done within budget
Description of Work: I needed stone steps and 1 large flat stone to set off an entry to the steps. Dave was very punctual. We looked over the 3 areas I needed scaped and he gave me an estimate which we agreed on.

Dave is very experienced in this type of work, and he takes a personal interest in the quality of the result. He has his own ideas, but is also willing to work with other ideas, even unusual ones. He knows what will work and what won't. We are entirely delighted with the result he has helped us to get. He makes a special effort to get us the best possible deal on materials, and he is very responsive when we need something. When our water line broke last month, I called him about finding someone to dig and find the leak. Within a day he and his colleague had found and fixed the problem for significantly less than a plumber would have charged. We consider ourselves very lucky to be working with him. His son Emerson does excellent yard work very efficiently and is also very responsive to our needs.
Description of Work: Dave Lind has supported us in completely relandscaping the front and back yard over the past year. Tasks included installation of decorative rock borders, retaining walls, raised flower beds, and a stone/gravel pathway, and also moving, planting, and pruning medium-sized shrubs, and completely remodeling the lawn surface in back and on the side of the house. His son Emerson does yard work for us.

I called the company and Dave called me back that afternoon to schedule an inspection. He looked it over and explained what the problems were and what would need to be done. It was obvious that he knew what he was talking about; he gave me a bid and I accepted it on the spot. Dave and his son came out (on time!) the next week. They laid down plywood to protect the driveway, and started removing all the rocks. It was not a huge rockery - maybe 6 feet long and 4 feet high, but that was a big pile of big rocks. They tidied up as they went along. They started rebuilding the wall with the existing stones and some they had brought, and it was cool to watch how they were fitted into place. You could tell that Dave liked this part of the job - he was very careful to make sure the stones fitted well and looked good together. They did the job in 3 or 4 hours; it looks great and they cleaned up nicely, and it wasn't even particularly noisy. If I had more work like this I would be happy to have them do it.

We called a few companies to get bids for the work, but Creative impressed us the most with their professionalism, creativity and suggestions. They showed up on time, got the work done on time, charged us what they bid, and left us very, very happy with the results. We've received several compliments on the new retaining wall/rockeries.
Description of Work: We needed a rather elaborate system of retaining walls that would help level the front yard of a house we own that is on the side of a hill, and we wanted the new walls to fit in with an existing rockery.

Dave was prompt and professional in both the estimate and the service. We gave him a general idea about what we wanted, and deferred to his expertise on how to achieve it. Basically, we wanted to rebuild an eroded rockery that helps support the driveway, and make it larger. We use it as a passageway that the dog can use to get from the bottom yard to the top yard (she can't scale the 5' tall retaining wall). Its erosion was eventually going to affect the driveway support, so it was time. He built an alpine rockery that looks natural, but cleverly built rock steps up one side that humans can now actually use - this was a bonus. It all had to be carefully staged around a mature spruce. I don't think this rockery is going anywhere soon! Dave also inspected our front rockeries (we live on the side of a steep hill) and suggested some augmentation where erosing was occurring. So he brought in some extra rocks and filled in those spots - it was needed and it looks great.
Description of Work: Dave replaced an old rockery between the ground level yard and the upper yard against the retaining wall. Also augmented the rockeries in the front yard where they had eroded.

They did a great job and didn't leave a mess. They worked with us to keep intact a part of the wall where we had built in a small raised pond area and to add drain pipes for drainage from the garage roof (which sits near the top of the rockery.) The crew seemed friendly and worked hard.
Description of Work: We needed the rockery/retaining wall in our backyard repaired. It was bulging in places and had become a nesting place for rodents due to the fact that it was only soil behind the big boulders. Because we live on a hill acess to the backyard was a challenge. One company said that we would have to take down our back fence and let them build a temporary dirt ramp on our neighbor's property. Creative Rockery was able to offer a different solution. They had a crew out to actually rebuild the wall by hand, using some of the existing larger rocks at the base and adding what they needed with the same basic kind of rock. And they filled in behind with crushed granite for stability and to keep the rats out.

Creative responded to an email query by phone. Dave came to inspect the project site the next day and gave me a quote on the spot. We checked a couple of sample walls he pointed us to and made the deal quickly (we had several quotes from other builders). Dave showed up the day before the project started and described how the work would be carried out. The crew showed up the next day, completed the demolition and site preparation and started building the walls. They had exactly the right equipment and the right team of people on site when needed. Construction was completed slightly ahead of the agreed schedule (5 days) and on budget. The quality of the walls is outstanding. Dave is an artist at laying stone, and at understanding what we were trying to accomplish and making our vision a reality. His inclusion of "scamper steps" and "ponder stones" as part of the finished walls were indications of his experience, design craft, and attention to detail that we really appreciated. We couldn't have imagined a better experience.
