Select Builders Group

We hired Sean Nelson, with Select Builders Group in Issaquah, WA, to build our new deck. After only 1 year the deck boards, Fiberon Veranda, began to move and raise. After 5 years the deck was becoming dangerous so we had several contractors give us bids on the replacement. The each noticed the following shoddy workmanship: Deck boards pushed together with no gap between boards, no joist support blocks, no joist hangars (joist were just nailed into the ledger board), no joint brackets, no corner brackets, no flashing between house siding and ledger, stairs were not laid on cement and were only attached to 2x6s hammered into the ground and rotted, Beams were built into dirt, there were no lag bolts mounting the rim joist to the joists, the house ledger board.... We contacted the contractor, Sean Nelson with Select Builders Group, and presented him with the findings, the costs, supporting pictures, and a request for partial reimbursement of our out of pocket expenses to repair the deck. Sean has chosen not to respond to our request for reimbursement.
