 + -1 moreKeith and his crew removed several overgrown plants and trees from our landscape, removed old mulch and rocky topsoil, then replaced with new soil, mulch, and new growth plants. The landscape looks fantastic with all the nice clean looking beds, colors, and flowering plants. They also installed a beautiful cedar box for our raised vegetable garden in the back yard. They did a great job and it was all done on schedule. We asked for a few modifications after the initial job was complete, and they came out quickly to address them. Unfortunately, they don't usually travel far from their base location, but we are fortunately within that range. I highly recommend these guys!

 + 1 moreSpectacular! Crew was punctual and professional, and I couldn't be more pleased with how things turned out! I was basically trying to make my back yard dog-friendly and dog-proof; so installing new gravel where there had been muddy, beaten-down grass. We also added a sandbox for the dogs to dig in, and beautiful new grass (where they no longer dig, since there's a sandbox!). I wasn't looking for super-fancy; I wanted the existing space cleared out and the new space to survive a couple of dogs, and to be easy to maintain. And I got exactly that!
Description of Work: Winter yard cleanup; removal of old/large children's climbing play toy set; clean up of leaves, vines, branches, organic matter. Addition of TONS of yards of gravel - I mean yards and yards - along both side yards of my house, and part of the back. Fresh sod installed in the back yard. General tidying.

 + -1 moreThe company trimmed back bushes and trees around my home. While overall professional, I encountered a couple issues: 1. I requested that they visit the property ahead of time to ensure that their ladders are tall enough to reach the taller branches on the trees. I received no confirmation about whether they had appropriate equipment for the job. When they came, they were not able to go high enough because the ladders were too short. 2. When I received the final bill, I was charged an extra hour for the time to "load up all the tools necessary for the project, drive to my house, then go to dump with a load of yard waste, and return to the shop." Since there were 3 men on the job, I was change x3 times the hourly rate of $45. It was not communicated to me ahead of time that the drive time charge would apply when I asked them for the pricing of their services. Overall, the service was more expensive that I expected and compared to their competitors in our area.

 + -1 morePrompt and thorough. Some complain about the price of this provider in their reviews, but I think it's unwarranted. This business prides itself on quality of work and paying their workers a fair wage. The service is excellent and the owner is conscientious and responsive. Our yard is a mix of lawn and landscaping - they do an excellent job maintaining both. Our regular maintenance team even takes down the yard waste to the curb after they finish the job. They remember your preferences and are very polite and accommodating to special requests.
Description of Work: This provider performs regular weekly maintenance on our 0.75 acre yard.

Description of Work: |Landscaping.....Their employees are not given any breaks to include lunch. The billing is from when they arrive to when they leave. Laborers are billed around $55.00 a hour. On this job we had 4 to 5 working at any given time. They are too expensive for this type work.

 + -1 moreThey had a crew of probably 8-10 guys here and the one thing I didn't like was that it didn't feel like there was a boss the whole time because they were just hanging out but the quality of work was good. Other than that, they did a good job. He was very punctual. The owner was awesome. He's busy so he wasn't here all the time. Even the guys who did the work was good but if I have hired those guys directly, I would've called some of them to go home to get the work basically. They weren't all extending maximum effort for the work but I liked the job they did. I would use them again in the future.

Description of Work: I have a corner lot with rocks several feet high that had not been cleaned out and bushes had not been pruned for a couple of years. As result, things were overgrown and somewhat unsightly. As Persnickety was very busy, I had to wait for over a month for them to get me into their schedule, but it was worth the wait. Persnickety's crew of five, plus the "boss" (who worked right along with the rest of them), arrived as scheduled to clean things up. They pruned bushes, cleaned out unwanted ground cover and generally laid waste to irritating weeds, and cleaned up as they worked.

Description of Work: They did absolutely everything you can imagine on my acreage except pave it over into a parking lot! |Frankly, my 2 acres was not maintained for over two years due to my extended illness and I was truly overwhelmed with the enormity of the task... |Keith was very frank when he walked the property with me and explained what he and his crew could do, and what I could expect from him. Then he did something remarkable...he gave me multiple options and levels of completeness for his services, with the caveat that whatever I decided it would be done to an exemplary level because his name and reputation would be assigned to it. Did I mention they are VERY persnickety, okay more like OCD, about how the landscape job looks when it is done...ever heard the phrase "curb appeal"? |On top of this young contracting entrepreneur's audacity, to give the customer a say in how much they can afford and what they want done, Persnickety got to me faster than the date they promised, did way more than he agreed to do and did it in less time. Amazing! |I almost do not want to leave this good review because then Persnickety will get too busy to be at my beck and call...no, really, you would be all kinds of dumb not to at least give them a call. |I am so glad I was walking my dog when I ran into Keith's crew walking by my neighbor's yard, who has a lawn that I covet by the way, and asked about their company.Then proceeded to look them up on Angie's list for background information. |I will try to post some before and after pictures for everyone to see what they can do in two days...unbelieveable if I told you without visual proof! |Last I visited on my lunch time today, the crew were literally weeding and landscaping, and moving dirt UNDER my deck and knocking masonry back into the proper spots...something I used to do with my kids; that has not been done in 10 years or more. Well, we never talked about this, just that I wanted to "feel good" coming home from work when I dive up to my home and not how I have been feeling lately, oh boy, did it look good! ;0

 + -1 moreKeith from Persnickety came out to my house to meet with me and give me some design ideas of what we could do with our backyard space and how he would be able to transform it for us into a living space that we could use in the summer months. Keith was professional, courteous, knowledgeable and very polite and really gave me something to think about. While we decided to go a different direction with our backyard project, I would definitely recommend Keith's services to other folks interested in landscaping. I had a very pleasant experience with them.

 + 0 moreAfter getting quotes from a number of different companies, we decided to go with Persnickety. The crew arrived on the time specified, we reviewed the work that was to be done and they went right to work. We initially thought it was going to take one day to do the work but it ended taking another 1/2 day on top of that. The yard was in really bad shape with weeks and overgrown plants. They did what we agreed to and minor further requests that we discussed a long the way. I was amazed how quickly the crew was able to get the job done considering the magnitude of the work to be performed. The bark was applied the next day. It was not blown in. It was placed in large buckets and applied by hand. The bark was high quality and it showed. The numerous neighbors commented on how good it looked. They also did some trimming on some evergreen trees and bushes. It really was done well.They are not the cheapest firm to go with but they did a great job. I also marked them on quality because within a few weeks we noticed that some of the weeds had come through the bark. But at least now they were manageable. I was disappointed that that had happened so quickly but in fairness to them we had not agreed on the depth of the bark to be placed down. Having said that, we would definitely use them again.

Description of Work: I couldn't have been happier with the job, the professionalism, the return calls, price, and cleanliness when they were done. They went above and beyond, were honest on the job, the hours and men it would take. They started moving really fast when we were nearing my budgeted time, very rare that this type A clean freak is impressed with a company. I plan on using them for years to come.

The home had been used as a rental for over two years, and had significant ?deferred maintenance? issues with regards to the landscape (understatement). I needed a good landscape contractor I could count on. During my search, I talked with numerous landscaping companies (Angie's List) and independent contractors (Craigslist), and was provided with many bids. I appreciated Keith?s thorough assessment of my ?situation?, and agreed with his systematic plan of attack. Persnickety?s bid came in higher than the others, but I chose to contract with Keith?s company due to the abundance of 5-star reviews on Yelp and the fact I felt I could trust him. ?WOW? is right! Trust me ? they under promise, and over deliver. Keith was able to begin work a week early (big bonus for me). FIVE dump trucks of debris later, I could finally see the ground I had just purchased. A week later, I received a text message with a photo from Keith. It was my front yard, being prepped for sod. I returned later that day to a gorgeous yard. My neighbors observed as the Persnickety team worked, and decided to use their services as well. I look forward to working with Keith and his team at Persnickety to continue to refine and maintain my landscape. ,
Description of Work: 25 hours of landscape "clean out" with a crew of 5 (125 man hours). This included bricks, concrete blocks, branches, bushes, old furniture, trash, etc. 9.5 hours of landscape installation (37 man hours). Thatching, topsoil, sod installation (2,200 sq.ft.) The total spend obviously includes fees for numerous runs to the dump, and the purchase of topsoil, sod, gravel, etc.

 + 0 moreKeith gave me an honest answer about their dollar per man hour over the phone rather than come by and give me an estimate which I was fine with. They're a bit higher than some other companies at $45/hr, where the average rate in this area is $30/hr. The reviews on another website were very positive so I decided to give them a chance anyway. They came by to do the work a bit earlier than planned and gave me a quote at 4 hours which I was surprised at since the last company I used cleaned up in 2-3 hours. They were close to their estimate and finished at 3.5 hours. I noticed one of the workers took a break in the middle and the ones that worked while he was away worked noticibly slower than the last company I hired. Also they ended up charging some additional time for taking the massive pile of grass and leaves to be tossed. They warned me ahead of time that there may be an additional fee for dumping (which they did charge separately), but I was surprised they also charged an hourly rate. They were careful with their work and moved some obstacles out of the way rather than work around them like the other company did last time. I also appreciated that they were happy to do a couple of extra things and even help me move one of the obstacles to the curb for the trash guys to take. They also cleaned out my veggie garden beds which the last company I used wouldn't touch. Additionally, true to their name, they took the extra time to clean out the space between our rock wall and our fence, as well as de-weed the wall itself. It would've taken me weeks to do all of that work. Even with all of the good work they did, they left a few areas unfinished which goes against their company's philosophy. I heard the workers talk about needing to beat traffic back to Issaquah, so perhaps they decided that was more important. There is still grass in the woodchip area around one of my trees, and the side bed they were weeding just before they left was unfinished.
