We were very happy with Shinda's communication and responsiveness. He gave us directions on expectations of us so none of our property would be damaged. His crew Benjamin and Randy delivered the two rocks, placed them as we directed and made sure we were satisfied with the rocks location. Their machinery is top notch and their skill in operating same was impressive. They were very respectful of our property. They laid down plywood to protect our grass when driving their bucket loader. Very happy with the whole process.

They did a great job, showed up when they said they would, got the work done in the time frame agreed to and cleaned up the site at the end of the project. There was high traffic on the road and they did a great job with traffic control.

We are very pleased with the quality of their work as well as their personable and professional manner. In addition, they carried out the work safely and in accordance with environmental regulations. The work was done quickly and efficiently, and they were flexible as much as possible in meeting our schedules and timeline and in our request to complete some of the work ourselves to save $. Their price for the work was reasonable and competitive with other landscaping/hardscaping firms. Shinda set an example for his work crews in working hard and providing them with the direction they needed in this complex project. They even installed some large rocks to pull the aesthetic design of the yard together and didn't charge us for them! In addition to Shinda, we'd like to thank the members of his crews that worked with us: Benjamin, Randy, Norm, Josh, and Carpino. They did their best and that shows in what they were able to accomplish. Finally, they were considerate of the neighbors in working quietly, with minimum dust and disruption, and were careful to not interfere with our neighbors' parking or blocking driveways or alley access. This was phase I of our project and we should be starting Phase II soon -with the same company - that should say it all. Shinda and team listen well, quickly provide costing and proposal estimates and stick to their estimate. They are master "rock placers" - doing a good rockery is both an art and science and they have the experience and know-how to do it well. They worked with us on product, schedule, placement and all of the details continuously. They were able to adapt to changes quickly - there were a few - and everything was done clearly and up front with no surprises. Great job so far.

Shinda and his team were punctual, clear in their communication, performed excellent professional work, took great care of our property and plantings, and work quickly and efficiently. They effectively finished the projected a day early. Olympic Rockeries were offered a fantastic estimate of work that beat every other offer we pursued as well. The work was high impact, but they made very little impact regarding noise and obstruction to our daily routine. Shinda was highly communicative and flexible to meet any of our needs at no extra cost and was on-site regularly to follow up and ensure work was being accomplished to our expectations. We contacted Shinda (owner) after seeing all the positive reviews his company has. We wanted to do a rock retaining wall on a water front cabin to prevent erosion. Shinda reviewed the pictures I sent him and offered several suggestions and made appointment with me to go onsite to review. Shinda was on time, professional, and really understood our wants/needs. Shinda expressed that our case would not need the expense of having a rock wall and could do lumber instead. This proposal allowed us to do two walls close to our initial budget. On the day of the project Shinda and Sabin assisted in ferrying over lumber via floating barge to the location. This was going above and beyond what I think most companies would be willing to work with as we did not have road access to that side of the house. Sabin and his teammate Carpino worked quickly to complete the project within 3 days and worked extremely well to communicate with my wife on her design/gardening needs. Sabin even took extra effort to allow our curious 6 year old to hang out while they are working hard. Anyone that can field that amount of questioning a child has and still produce such quality results is A+. We felt very comfortable with the entire work process and the communication was excellent on every level. Our walls are beautiful and just in time for planting season. We look forward to work with Olympic Rockeries again for another project next year.

Shinda and the crew from Olympic Rockeries did an amazing job from first contact to final clean up. From responsiveness to timing to advice and ideas everything just came together rather easily. Frankly, we could not believe how fast they worked. The results look fantastic and our new backyard looks nothing like the crumbly sloped lawn it used to be. We'd hire Olympic Rockeries again in a heartbeat for any rockery, paving, hardscaping or yard remodel needs. What a refreshing experience!

We have a large slope next to an alley way behind our house that had multiple types of vegetation growing on it with a few small trees. We weren't exactly sure how we were going to handle the slope transformation but after speaking with Shinda on multiple occasions and reviewing different ideas we ended up deciding on a 2 phased project. Phase 1 of our project was to remove the vegetation, install a retaining wall and add jute netting and mulch. Phase 2 is add plantings to support the slope which will be done in the fall. Shinda provided valuable advice and expertise on making phase 1 of the project a success. We had a specific budget in mind and Shinda worked with us in completing phase 1 under budget. During our discussions we had mentioned that we wanted to have access to the slope and Shinda provided some sandstone slabs left over from some work done at the state capital for free. Also during the project it was discovered that some of the soil was so full of vines/blackberries/weeds that it wasn't feasible to clean the soil of them so Shinda hauled 3 truck loads of it away at no cost. His team worked through the rain and muck and completed the project within the expected time frame. Armando, the team lead, was very professional as was his team and did a great job. They arrived ready to go every day and made steady progress without disturbing the neighbors too much considering the heavy equipment needed for the job. One of our neighbors decided they wanted to save one of the small trees and Armando assisted in replanting it for them for a small fee. All in all a great job done by Shinda's team and we would highly recommend them.

Outstanding x'S 2! Shinda and his crew relocated a stairway next to my garage and installed a 4ft retaining wall, along with a couple of other short retaining walls to encapsulate our small backyard area with beautiful results. We consulted on the job and I left some creative liberties up to Shinda and he knocked it out of the park! (April 2015) So I had him come out and finish a couple of small hardscape areas on the South side of our property, and once again, I left some creative license open for him. He made excellent choices, remained within our projected budget, and his crew was fun to work with. This was a difficult job because there was no way to use heavy equipment to help with the project due to the fact most of the work area was 20 feet lower than the front of our property and 20 feet higher than the rear of our property. I highly recommend Olympic Rockeries and Construction if you want high end work a reasonable price.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Olympic Rockery to clients and friends and work with them again. Shinda was extremely responsive and the overall work was fantastic. We had a different company do our front rockery and the difference in quality and execution was obvious. We still have a step that wobbles a bit, and our yard and small section of rockery didn't turn out exactly level, but we were able to accommodate. All of the positives with this company far outweigh and minor OCD complaints I have. In fact, Shinda is the best contractor I've used so for my house remodel! It was so nice to have a quality professional with fantastic communication skills help us on this job. THANKS SHINDA!!!!

Olympic Rockeries was fantastic to work with. Shinda came out promptly to give me a bid, and was helpful at that time, though I wasn't ready to commit right away. He was patient with me as I explored another bid and got my head around the costs for my project (higher than I thought). Once I was ready to go forward, he was clear and helpful and attentive every step of the way, checking in frequently to make sure everything was going well and that I was satisfied. Armando and the others who did the work were great too, completely professional, punctual, friendly; they even came back the next day to touch up some things even though they could've called it done at that point. The finished project looks wonderful, and I couldn't be happier with the service I got.

We began our hardscape planning with two companies who advertised in the Seattle Times newspaper. Both companies approached our project - driveway/front porch entry and steps - with the typical large company cookie-cutter design. After 3 weeks of planning and saying ?no?, we found Olympic Rockeries and Construction. I contacted the owner, Shinda, on a Friday evening and he was at our house the next day. He explained how we could use our design and incorporate his Dublin Cobblestone pavers for the driveway and walkway, limestone and huckleberry stone for the treads & risers, and use small and large rocks for the low retaining walls. He encouraged us to visit his work site on Mercer Island. We were very impressed by the M.I. residential project ? including materials, design, and workers. He suggested we follow him to Preston WA to visit Marenakos Rock Center. We did everything at Marenkos, except haul the rocks/stones home in the trunk of our car. At this point we were ready to say ?yes? to Shinda. We felt his artistic approach and detail to landscaping was especially important for our front entrance/driveway remodel. Since we have been in our house for 41 years, the transformation from old to new was like a dream. I watched the work crew every day fascinated by their workmanship, artistry, and awareness of our needs and concerns. Our only worry was the weather that dropped 11 inches of rain on our 4 week project. Shinda and his crew were extremely concerned about keeping our worksite clean and not turning it into a mud hole. When the rainfall was light, the workers would set up a large tent to keep the area and themselves dry. On heavy rainfall days, all work was cancelled for the day. Since our entire project was located in the front of our house, we feel Shinda?s artistic approach was a perfect fit. Shinda and his crew did a phenomenal job building a rockery retaining wall and stone stair steps for us. We are so happy with the outcome. Shinda worked with our budget and gave us a very good price for the project. He is very patient to make sure we got what we want it. The retaining wall is beautiful! His crew did an amazing job building the stone stair step. They paid every close attention to details. They made sure every steps has the same level and measurement. They went back and redid each step until it was perfect....that's amazing! Shinda did additional work such as pulled out a few rotted tree stumps without charging extra fees. He offered to pick up a few yards of top soils, something I hadn't thought about at that time, without charging any delivery fee. He pointed out a drainage problem that would damaged the foundation of our house. The crew spent over an hour cleaning up before they left. These guys are the best contractor I have ever worked with. They do a wonderful job, they are just the best! Will definitely hire them again.

I am beyond pleased with the transformation of my yard. I hired Olympic Rockeries to remove my grass, reposition my existing plants and shrubs and bring in large rocks to complement the new rain garden. What I received is amazing, it has updated the landscape and allowed me to be more eco friendly. From the first visit to the completion, I have been involved with the entire process. I have never done this kind of project so I looked to the experts, and experts they were. If there were any questions about placement I was always consulted, however their eye was better than mine. They brought in spectacular, large rocks and placed them in such a way that if the rock had a flat part, that made a place to sit in the garden. They cleaned up at the end of each day and hosed the sidewalks of all debris and dirt. At one point, while they were using large equipment, a Mother and her young daughter, parked in front just to watch and the neighbors took pictures, to show friends. Can you tell I am pleased? I wish I had the money and an acre of land just to watch them in this transformation, one more time.

I had read all of Shinda's reviews and was pleasantly surprised to find a great company, with a knowledgeable owner and smat, hardworking employees. Everyone who has commented here on the crew who shows up is absolutely spot on. Since this project took a few weeks, the team became part of the family :-). They came early. They cleaned up after themselves, and knew to keep going on sunny days and when logical stopping points made sense. Shinda does not 'sell' his services, but is open to scope expanding (as it did on our job because we saw the potential for what else was possible as the project progressed). Examples: I did some research about Fountains and ends up I had bought an antiquated method of burying the "guts" of the fountain. After the crew had already started leveling and digging the hole, they were kind enough (we paid extra, but that's ok) to redo the hole so that the fountain will now be installed via a new system which is much easier to maintain. Another example, Shinda and the crew were very accommodating as we had to bring in a septic draining, as well as gas people at appropriate junctures to do their part. the project did grow (original 33k to final 62k) so brace yourself for that when you get started but that's just caution about hardscaping projects in general...last example is one of their artistry and ability - the fire-pit. Every stone placed by hand and carefully & artfully placed - amazing results (thank you Sabin!) - it came out so perfect.

They are specialized. When we decided to tackle this complicated project we searched for a vendor and quickly realized that our project required very specific skills and equipment due to the slope, existing retaining walls and limited access. Shinda, the owner of Olympic Rockery, was extremely generous with his time as we began to plan. He came out several times to review the project, answer questions and explore options - many hours of uncompensated work before he was even contracted, yet we never felt pressured. They collaborate well. When we realized we wanted to get a landscape architect involved so we could address the rockery and pavers as part of the overall design, Olympic worked closely with them to make sure their portion of the project would go smoothly. They often contributed beyond the scope of their work and helped remove soil, transplant a large tree and position a large water feature when they saw that the use of their specialty equipment would cost less than doing it manually. They are committed to quality. We had ordered our materials nearly 6 months before the project began. During that time, Shinda became aquainted with a material he felt would be a better fit for us and gladly exchanged the materials. He also came back after the project was done and made a few tweaks that not only improved the project but made an unrelated project easier and less costly. They are professional. His crew was extremely professional, detailed, polite and highly skilled. Shinda checked on the project often and directed the more complicated portions himself. I was very impressed how he always took the time to explain to his crew what he was doing...you could tell his crew was skilled because he personally trained them. This was just a "feel-good" bonus during the project, but a good illustration of how this company operates. And, phone calls, texts and emails were answered almost instantaneously. They are respected. When the city inspector came for the pre-construction meeting and saw Shinda from Olympic Rockery he said "Oh, its you! There shouldn't be any problem here." The landscape contractor also pointed out the advanced equipment skills they had and noted that not many people could do what they do. They are budget conscious. This was not a straight-forward project. Many adjustments had to be made along the way because of wacky things thatexisted on the property. But everytime we came across a new challenge, Olympic adjusted accordingly and provided good suggestions to keep the project moving forward without dramatically impacting the budget. We feel really lucky to have found this company on Angie's List and they have our highest recommendation!

The job was completed in an easy and timely manner. I'm so pleased with the result. It's always a pleasure to hire true craftsmen. It's so rare to find craftsmen AND good communication with both the GC & the super. All that is found in Olympic Rockies. Olympic team work was unsurpassed (amongst all the teams that have worked on my buildings & property). I witnessed 3 members of the Olympic Rockeries team's great skills with the equipment & the rock. They kept great team discipline during installation. This is so important due to the danger involved. Obviously, there is real love & understanding of rock. As the owner, dealing with constant installation and repairs in the development of my property, Olympic Rockeries created no drag on my sails. In fact, Olympic Rockeries provided a nice wind (via rocks) to move my landscape forward. I cannot praise the workmanship enough. Shinda worked with me to allow for proper site preparation (delayed due to rains) without undue pressure. Then the job was done quickly yet thoroughly. I appreciated that as I'm very sensitive to big equipment on a property that I've stewarded by hand for it's ecological services (wild-life refuge & water filtration) for almost 2 decades. Olympic Rockeries made this installation stress free and left a very small footprint (on clean up & trim out). The bigger foot-print is that I miss everyone who worked here! Couldn't help but bond with them in the way that one does over love of the materials & the work in a magical place on earth. The best experience of all. The owner Shinda responded to my call within minutes and came for evaluation and was able to squeeze our landscaping project within couple of days. We were very impressed with the quote and punctuality and the work done so fast and with the highest quality.He and his team worked so hard building the rockery and listened to all our needs and had such a great suggestions.They did lots of extra work without even charging more.The backyard and rockery wall looks amazing. We have very limited access to the backyard and was afraid that could damage the corner of the house! We were so impressed how they were maneuvering the big machines! Since we had some extra rocks left, I decid to finish another wall that was started long time ago, but Shinda just spend another day and builded it for us. At no additional charge again. And the most important thing that we had limited time to work on the project, just because he promised us to do he job on time, he did it despite his personal life( I still feel guilty). I would highly recommend him if you need any project done! it's hard to find someone that responsible as Shinda!

In a word, amazing! We called for a quote on Friday and Shinda was at our house Monday morning to look over the project. He got more than he bargained for because we only had a rough idea of what we were looking for. He took the time to understand our needs and then proposed solutions that would maximize the space. The work started on Friday and was completed by Wednesday. This timeframe included the two project changes that the team took in stride. There was a certain sense of calm throughout the project because we had the utmost confidence in Shinda and his team. The communication was also outstanding and we never wondered what was going on or what was going to happen next. We simply cannot say enough good things about this company.

Shinda and his team are very professional and work very hard. We are so happy with the way our backyard turned out. It went from a pile of dirt to a backyard oasis. The job took a bit longer than expected but it was well worth the wait. I trust this team, this is the third project they have completed and we are very happy with the results.
