From our first initial contact and meeting with Shinda, we were extremely impressed. He is friendly, knowlegeable, accessible and very creative. We thought we had a good plan in mind but his plan was sooo much better! He is an artist and he truly loves his work. He is also a perfectionist, which we believe is a rare quality these days. He was always in constant contact with us regarding scheduling. The entire project, which took about two weeks, ran very smoothly with no delays. He orchestrated all the workers, material deliveries and timelines expertly. We are so pleased with the results. Everyone who sees the finished project is very impressed. We can honestly say, we have never had such an amazing experience with a contracor before. We obtained a few other bids from other contractors prior to hiring Shinda and his pricing was by far the best. And he delivered more! We would highly recommend Shinda to anyone considering having this type of work done. He is the ultimate professional!

Excellent work from start to finish. No downtime, no gaps in work schedule. Project site was cleaned up at end of each work day. No surpirses, excellent communication from owner/operator Shinda Sidhu. Plan on using Mr. Sidhu's company for another project - to build a small timber retaining wall on my property. Overall very satisfied with Shinda's work and professionalism. Would definitely recommend to others.

Shinda was very helpful in guiding the project so that the outcome would be usable and attractive. He made suggestions to reduce cost and accomplish the results that I was looking for. He and his crew was very good and easy to work with and I will definitely have him work on future projects. I called Shinda, the owner/operator of Olympic Rockeries & Construction and as he was working close by he was able to come out that day to pre-inspect the work I wanted done and provide me with a starting estimate. Once we agreed on the work to be done and the cost the equipment started to arrive the following day and work commenced a day later. Shinda and his crew worked fast and efficiently from adding over 100 feet to an existing rockery and performing clean up along the way to starting a brand new 130 foot rockery along the driveway. Time and time again Shinda was able to save me money on materials because of an extensive network of suppliers. Olympic Rockeries & Construction were able to handle my additional work requests without any delays, an example would be adding a 250 foot gravel access road to the back of my property, the time and materials cost was explained to me in detail and I feel it was more than fair. The finishing touch on the project was the addition of around 3,000 square feet of lawn. Olympic rockeries brought in all the fill, topsoil and provided me with the best price on golf course quality sod. If you've never installed a lawn, I recommend you at least consult a professional such as Shinda at Olympic Rockeries & Construction because it is a big job, labor intensive and having a good source for materials will save you money in the end. As a side note Shinda was able to put me in touch with a paving contractor, Big Paving, and again provided me with a "one stop shop" experience that saved me time and money. I'd happily recommend Olympic Rockeries & Construction to anyone interested in a total yard makeover, thanks Shinda!

We're absolutely thrilled with our new, 85' rockery and beautiful, level back yard thanks to Shinda Sidhu, Owner of Olympic Rockery. Shinda is a very talented and highly skilled landscape artist. He built a beautiful rockery for us in a very confined area between two new homes, filled with hazards and on an extremely steep slope. Two out of the other four Angie's List Contractors that inspected my yard turned down the project as being too difficult for them. Shinda bid was competitive with the offer but what impressed me at the onset was Shinda's punctuality, professionalism and straight forward communication style. My neighbor was so impressed with Shinda's work that he requested a bid and awarded his back yard project to Olympic as well. Shinda worked overtime to complete both projects simultaneously and by doing so, saved us both a significant amount of money. This project turned out way better than I could have ever expected and we're absolutely thrilled with our new yard.

It went as scheduled and on time. Sindra ran a very thoughtful and professional crew. The area where I needed the walls built was not accessible by machinery. Every rock and bucket of gravel had to be hand carried down a set of uneven and steep steps He had two of his cousins on the crew and they definitely worked hard and diligently. Have another big job on the horizon and would not hesitate to hire Olympic again.

The job was done professionally and looks great! The crew showed up on time and they were able to complete the job in 4 weeks (3 weeks with 1 week off in the middle) which was incredible with all the work that was done. Shinda, the owner, was excellent to work with. When we were choosing colors for the retaining wall he provided multiple samples to help us with our decision. He also provided guidance on various parts of the project that we hadn't fully thought through (e.g. if the wall should curve, where and how it should end, topsoil for the yard, etc.). He also provided references on where we can go to get other materials for work we were doing after the project was done and for parts of the yard we were completing ourselves. Overall, the final work looks great and it was a pleasurable experience to work with Olympic Rockeries. I would definitely use them again for another large project.

This was the 3rd time we have worked with Shinda, and his company, Olympic Rockery and once again we were extremely happy with the work they did. Shinda is very easy to work with and has gone out of his way to make sure we were happy. This was the final phase of an extensive backyard project that we started a few years ago. I have struggled with a sloping yard eroding down to the street right of way. Shinda Sidhu came and gave me a bid after he discussed with me what should be done. He came today with his equipment and in a couple hours had it installed and looking great. This is a rental house so now I can finish with some soil moving and medium bark dust blown in. It is really nice to find someone that knows what he is doing and nice to work with as well. I would recommend him to anyone.

It went well. The owner is very curious and helpful. They worked very diligently to make sure it got done that day. My driveway is extremely long and this was a much better option than get it tared.

Went awesome. This is a project we had wanted to do for about 2 years now but due to scope and price we had to wait awhile. We had contacted many companies to come out and quote. Many were not capable given the size of the rockery we have. We ended up getting 4 quotes from contractors we felt could do the job based off their experience and equipment. Based off pricing we were able to narrow it down to two contractors and then based off Olympic's quick and complete responses to our requests for changes to the quote we picked Olympic. Shinda, the owner, quoted what we asked for the 1st time w/in a couple of days while other contractors took over a week to quote and/or didn't quote what we described (we even had the statement of work typed up for them!). We made probably 3 or 4 changes to what we wanted and the quote was always quickly revised. Also, Shinda, the owner, was patient when the permitting with the city took longer than expected. Finally after 1.5-2 months of waiting for the city the job began and Olympic completed it quickly. Shinda and his team made the job look easy. The yard now looks incredible and we receive compliments daily as people drive or walk by. I have already recommended him to two people in the area looking to rebuild their rockeries. I couldn't be more pleased with my choice of going with Olympic Rockeries!!

Overall experience A ++++++++++ Our experience with Shinda Sidhu owner of Olympic Rockeries & Construction have surpassed all expectations. Shinda is a professional gifted with great ability to create a unique yard laced with rocks that were layered at different levels. We are so grateful and rewarded for the beautiful landscape with rockery. Shinda hears his customers and always aims to please. He is a joy to work with!! He built an upper yard rockery wall that has landscaping cascading into it that is so gorgeous and entices us to spend all our time in the back yard. He did the same in the identical wall to support a deck to be built on June 3, 2013. Gosh! It is so gorgeous that we do not want it hidden! He has these rare skills engrained in his mind and produces them for us all to enjoy. Our backyard minus the tons rotten timbers has been transformed! From the first call, to the final day, Shinda (Olympic Rockeries) was a pleasure to work with. It is rare to find someone who is as responsive, punctual, and thorough as he is. He is confident without being overbearing, listens to your requests, and will provide guidance if requested. He knows his business. We had 90' of hillside, an area at the top of the hill, and a third area on the other side of the house that needed complete renovation. Working with a bobcat, Shinda carefully (and quickly) removed plants/trees that we were keeping, and excavated the rest. All debris was hauled away. New soil and 30 tons of rocks were brought in. All areas had the soil amended, and all rocks were properly placed throughout the property. He then helped to replant most of the plants that were previously removed. There was no wasted motion, no idle time, and it was done in 3 days. As Shinda walked around the back of our property, he noticed two massive stone walls on our neighbor's property. He had built them many years ago. It was great work, and still in perfect condition. A testament to how well he does his work. Give Shinda a call -- you will not be disappointed. And you will be amazed at how he answers his phone almost every time! Even when I had to leave a message, the call was returned in less than 15 minutes. Amazing.

We contacted Olympic Rockeries and Construction to get an estimate on removing our outdoor swimming pool. Shinda was prompt and very professional. He explained how he was going to do the job and gave us an estimate. We compared his bid to others. He was not the lowest bid but since he had the most experience in pool removal we chose him. We are very happy we did. The job he did was just like he described and the rockery he rebuilt looks better than it ever did. He got to the job within a week and it was done in about 1-1/2weeks. He kept us informed on the job's progress. His crew was courteous and professional too. They cleaned up after the job and now we have a nice area where we'll plant grass and not have to look at or maintain an ugly pool. We would not hesitate to hire Shinda and Olympic Rockeries again. They did an excellent job!

One phone call to OR to set up a time for delivery of the rocks; they were delivered on time and placed in the area agreed upon.

He was very punctual, easy to work with, and had great vision for the project. Work was completed quickly and as agreed.

Last fall I found Shinda on craigslist. I called him and he promptly came over to discuss my project with me and provided me with an excellent bid. I liked Shinda immediately as he was honest and truthful. He also spent time listening to what I wanted. My yard needed a total transformation and I needed to have some trees with their stumps removed before Shinda could get to work. So I had that done over the winter and the following Spring I called Shinda back. Shinda honored the 6 month old bid!. I felt that was very honorable. The job took 1 1/2 days. The first day of the job, his crew arrived on time and ready to work. He has excellent machinery and a good crew. His excavator was easily able to perform the job and could fit into my yard without any issues. They first quickly removed my old retaining wall and began installing my new rockery. In doing so, there was an enormous amount of tree roots that the excavator dug up. I want to say they ripped out a 6' x 5' pile of tree roots. His crew fit the rocks like a puzzle. At the end of the first day, my wall was mostly built. I had only one ask of Shinda which was to lower part of the wall. The next day he had his crew lower it for me. His crew then leveled my yard to a rough grade. For a finishing touch, they offered to place a few large rocks in my landscape. They did not have to do that, but did. Just by adding those few extra boulders, it really added a lot character to my landscape and I am very happy with the results. Over the next few days, I had numerous neighbors stop over and were very impressed on how amazing my rockery wall was. The visual change to our landscape is amazing. I am very happy that we decided to have Shinda create us the rockery wall. (I wish I could share a picture so you could see how amazingly well it turned out.) In my opinion, save your time on getting bids and just call Shinda. He is great to deal with and does an excellent job. If I ever need excavation or another rockery, I will most certainly call Shinda.

It took a couple tries to connect to get an estimate as the owner was so busy, but after that everything went very smoothly. One of our bids said it would take two men and two days to do the job. The job was fairly small. Olympic took one guy about a half day to do the job. One of our bids was over $2000. Olympic's bid was one-fourth that. One of our bidders kept making appointments to do an estimate and then not showing or cancelling. Olympic was punctual and dependable one we connected properly by phone. My neighbor and I are very please with the work and the experience and would highly recommend this company for the type of job we had done.

After getting 5 different bids from excavators, Olympic was our first choice. Shinda was very quick in responding to our request for the situation we were dealing with (property dispute that was undisclosed from previous seller). While the corrections seemed overwhelming to me, Shinda approched it with great confidence that the job was not as bad as I was thinking it was. Out the other 5 bids, he is was the only one that asked certain questions that showed me he knew above all the others exactly what had to be done. When it came time for the bids to come in, Shinda was the first submitted and he was very active in keeping contact with me to follow up on our decision and if we had any concerns or questions. His price was very reasonable for all the work he did and all the material brought in (boulders). All his equipment is owned by him, so there is no middle man like some of the bids we got where we would have to foot the bill for equipment rental. We had an enourmous retaining wall that needed to be removed as it was illegally built on part of our neighbors property but not disclosed to us when we bought the house. Everyone that looked at it, including structural engineers felt it would be an exhausting job that would take a large crew and days of work. Shinda removed the entire wall with himself and one assistant in one day. He is so skilled in operating all his equipment and is always thinking ten steps ahead. He was curtious and efficent to work with. On the days it rained he still offered to come and see if he could get any work done. He was always on time and kept in constant contact with me on the days we could not do any work due to weather. Shinda even offered suggestions of nurserys we could order from. He cleaned his work area every night, including the street leading up to our house. We are not finished with all the corrections we need to do and I will hire Olympic without doubt for any furture work we need to finish if it involves an excavator. So happy with the results.

BACKGROUND Our property is ~14,000 sq feet with lots of doug fir, cedar and maple trees. We had 50 tons of white river basalt stacked in two reasonably accessible giant rock piles on the property. I had a general landscape design in mind ( I researched different concepts, approaches, made sketches), but was not initially clear on what I could accomplish with the amount of material I had.The rock piles also really impeded the function of our property and were a hazard to our young child - we really wanted to do something with them and hoped we wouldn't have to spend a fortune. WHY WE CALLED SHINDA I called Shinda after reading all his favorable reviews on Angie's list. I also read many ( and I mean a lot) of his competitors reviews as well. What stood out was about Olympic Rockeries and Shinda was his passion for his work, his patience with detail oriented customers (like me), and his desire to do a great job for all his customers. ESTIMATE DISCUSSION/BEFORE WORK STARTED When Shinda came by to give me an estimate he spent at least an hour talking through possible options for how to use the rock, estimating how much we had and how we could manage costs. He even suggested options which did not benefit him in any way - like selling the rock to 3rd parties, how to source soil etc. Overall in this planning stage, he was a great partner in figuring out the right landscaping strategy for our unique situation - what we wanted to, costs, all the existing material on site. Shinda owns all his equipment and bid the job at an hourly rate with an initial estimate of 2 days for the scope of work discussed. He felt that this would be more fair to both of us and I agreed. Some friends who have contacts in construction told me the price was very fair. (In the end it all worked in my favor as Shinda and his crew finished the job (with increased scope) in less than two full days.) When I decided to give Shinda the job, he met me again at my house and walked the property marking where we would work. We spent another hour talking and refined the landscaping plan. PROJECT EXECUTION The day the project was scheduled to start, Shinda had a mechanical issue with his truck and there was unexpected construction in my neighborhood. We agreed to push the project out by a day. Shinda and his crew arrived promptly at 8AM the next day to start work. I had made some adjustments to the landscaping plan which we discussed and then things got going! Shinda definitely understands his trade, how to handle his machines and how to place rocks. I spent two days out there watching his crew work at every step of the way and it's really obvious how awesome and skilled he is at excavating, moving and placing rock. The efficiencies that come from his skill save you money - sorting the rocks to find the right size boulders, staging them in the right locations make the difference between some task taking 1 hour vs 3 hours. Shinda also has a good handle on aesthetics. All the rock walls he built looked awesome. I had some ideas and he was very helpful in sounding out an idea while the job was progressing. He also was very flexible in making "on the go" adjustments when I wanted rocks positioned to my liking. Progress was at a break-neck pace with re-assuring precision and control- Shinda and his rocket setter/laborer moved fast wasting very little time throughout the project. They really hustled to get the job done and I never had to worry about them taking their time to pad the billable hours. CONCLUSION/END RESULT Shinda finished the job in less than two days, credited me some money back for the stone/gravel we didn't use and gave me and Angie's List discount of 5%. So Shinda's proposal to work hourly really worked out in our favor - to the order of $600 or so. The end result looks fantastic with many neighbors (I haven't met before) stopping by to stare, gawk, compliment, expres envy etc. My wife is happy, which is really the only thing I care about :) The visual change to our property is so dramatic that I'm kind of shock that this transformation took place in less than two days. I think Shinda is an awesome guy to work with. Very skilled and efficient at his trade. I would hire him again and definitely recommend him to friends/co-workers. After the job was complete, he even came back to drop off an asphalt tamping tool that I'm borrowing to fix some existing issues with my driveway (not related to this landscaping project). He really didn't have to do that, but he followed through. Great results. Fair prices. Professionalism. This is how all service interactions should be. Money well spent. (I will add some photos to this review later )

The workers who came out were extremely courteous and pleasant. We talked about the project that I wanted to do and they said that it wouldn't fit. Even though they did not perform the service I was still very impressed with their professionalism.

After some 41 years in the same house, a seldom seen but critical rockery appeared to slipping and sliding downslope, endangering my heat pump. I called Shinda Sidhu, owner of Olympic Rockeries and Construction and he responded to my first call by scheduling an estimate for later that same day. He showed up as scheduled and explained what was needed to repair the slumping rockery. He was patient and thorough in his inspection and very clearly described the work to be done. His estimate of the costs was very competitive and was accepted immediately. On January 11, 2013, Shinda and his Rock Setter showed up on site, thoroughly reviewed the work to be done, and the Rock Setter spent the better part of the day dismantling the existing rockery, preparing the site for rebuild and rebuilding the existing rockery. In addition, the soil removed from the existing rockery was carefully and thoughtfully redistributed on site to shore up some fence posts that had been exposed by erosion over time. The care and thoughtfulness put into the redistribution turned what could have been a pile of dirt into a "value added" repair at no extra cost. Shinda returned to site later that day to inspect and OK the work. Based on this experience Olympic Rockeries and Construction would get my first and possibly only call for similar work in the future.

They were very quick to respond to our request for a delivery of rock. After they delivered the original rock, they remembered that we would be interested in more one man boulders. They called us a couple days later and said they had some extra rock from another job in the area that they could delivery rather than take back to their place of business. They gave us a good price and delivered promptly.

contacted Olympic though Angie's list. He came out to my place and gave me an estimate for putting up a 55ft rock wall using 1-man rocks. He and his crew were prompted did an excellent job, cleaned up after the project was complete. Very pleased with their work. NOTE: on settling the final bill the estimate was for 10 yrds of soil and they only used 6. I would not have knows the differnce and he was very up front they only needed 6 yrds. Goes to character and trustworthy. The bid was a little higher than others who quoted me but this wall will be here for 30 years and I wanted it done right. I would not hesitate calling them in again

Job well done -- first day removed wall -- three additional days to hand build rockery -- kept site clean and neat during days weather did not permit construction -- I have already recommended to close friends that they can rely on and use Olympic Rockeries & Construction.
