Description of Work: Issaquah Landscaping was just fabulous! David gave me the least expensive estimate that I received and then went on to preform the design with the utmost skill, care and professionalism. The project turned out beautifully. I couldn't have asked for a better job or price! Without reserve, I recommend Issaquah landscaping for any/all of your landscaping needs!

I can?t say enough good things about Issaquah Landscaping. We?ve just had completed our third project with them, over two properties. David and his entire team are very easy to work with, trustworthy, professional, reliable and tidy. Issaquah Landscaping completed the entire project to a very high quality, and the result is beyond our expectations. Everything is perfect, and we couldn?t be happier with the service and dream garden they created. I would hire Issaquah Landscaping for our next project in a heart-beat.
Description of Work: Every inch of our current property was landscaped by Issaquah Landscaping, with design services from Phil Wood – David’s design consultant. They put together a design and installed front, side and rear gardens, several hundred plants, new lawns, tree, garden and patio lighting system, lawn and bed irrigation, paved walkways, a new gate, and a large Pennsylvania bluestone patio with benches and fire-pit.

While Issaquah Landscaping gave us the highest bid for our backyard project, we don't regret going with this company one minute. From start to finish it was a fantastic experience. David Rogers was wonderful to work with. His easy going manner and willingness to listen to everything we wanted was what sold us on this company. He was very professional, always on time for our meetings and accommodated our schedule. The crew were fantastic to work with as well. They were all extremely friendly and professional. Even when it was extremely cold (30's and 40's in February) they were there with a smile and a wave for me and my family in the morning. When I made changes to anything they were courteous and accommodating. The work they did was fantastic. They all really took the effort to make sure things were done right and that everything was exactly to my specifications right down to making sure I was happy with the angle of the lighting that lights up the trees. They went above and beyond what was expected and surprised us with small touches like putting trim around the base of existing deck support legs, drilling a hole through the gate latch and attaching a string so it could be opened from the other side, and even bringing my garbage cans in off the street for me while I was out! The only thing that might possibly be a down side was that due to heavy rains the project ran about two weeks longer than we had hoped but there's not much that can be done about the weather. I highly recommend Issaquah Landscaping and all of my neighbors rave about our beautiful backyard.
Description of Work: Complete Backyard Makeover. Plans were drawn up, complete demolition of existing deck, fencing, removal of additional debris from tree removal, two retaining walls installed (one timbers and the other concrete block), leveled area for future workshop, replaced old deck with new paver patio, take out existing grass and plants, put in new flower beds, plants, granite landscaping rocks, sod, and mulch. New fence and gates installed, remaining trees pruned, installed gravel pathways, paver step pathway, and copper lawn lighting fixtures.

We were referred to this company by our contractor, so we were excited to get our yard done. We communicated via email and made a consultation appointment. He was unavailable for a few weeks due to other commitments, but we made an appointment that worked for both of us. He came out, was very nice, seemed knowledgable, and gave a few suggestions. Was supposed to e-mail a quote, but never did. First contact was in July, our agreed upon consultation appointment was 8/14. Sent an email reminder on 8/21 to see if he was working on our quote and he said it would be ready by the end of the week. Received another email 8/31 saying the quote would be ready Tuesday after Labor Day instead. 9/3 came and went with no quote, so I emailed again 9/9 to get an update on status and never heard back. Disappointed. We are now looking for another landscape company to get our yard in order before summer so we can enjoy it.

We hired Issaquah Landscaping to prepare a landscaping plan for our backyard. After rescheduling several meetings, the owner presented the plan which looked good on paper but was difficult to follow as the recommended plants were not listed in either alphabetical or geographic order. Additionally, the owner told us we were on our own for verifying whether or not the plants were appropriate for our yard. After doing research, it appeared that many of his recommendations would quickly overwhelm our small yard. I have tried to contact the owner multiple times via his website and phone messages to give him a chance to clarify his recommendations. He has yet to respond and we are left with a $500 landscaping plan that appears inappropriate for the size of our yard.

We hired Issaquah landscaping to create an outdoor "room" for our new hot tub. It is a small family-owned business with a long track record of successful projects on the east side. Initially we worked with the owner, Dave Rogers, coming up with a design plan. Having already purchased the hot tub, we were in a big hurry to get it working and Dave was most accommodating in terms of setting up a schedule that allowed us to do that. As it turned out, however, there were some delays in delivery that threw off our construction schedule a bit, but Dave proved to be most flexible. His son Tony served as the on-site project manager. He was delightful to work with. The project ended up taking about twice as long as originally planned, primarily because of the hot tub delivery delays and we added additional work. There were a couple of days, however, where the crew did not show up when we expected them. That was a minor inconvenience in what proved to be an overall positive experience. When it came time to do the actual landscaping, my wife asked that whatever they did that it be "lush." The end result exceeded our expectations. The plantings and layout are beautiful. The Pennsylvania Bluestone mortared walkway has drawn many "oohs and aahs" from visitors. I would use Issaquah landscaping again without question. I've already recommended them to several friends and family.

I contacted four different landscapers and though I did not choose Issaquah Landscaping, they came in a close second and I have positive things to say. David from Issaquah Landscaping was very nice, professional and timely. I liked his ideas and concepts for my yards and the focus he puts on building a good foundation and doing the job right the first time. His cost bid was very thorough, detailed and well thought out and he uses high quality material (specifically lighting). He has a pleasant, personable and calm personality which would make him a pleasure to do business with and I?m positive I would have liked the job he would have done. I?d recommend you call him for bid.

I called Issaquah Landscaping and talked with the owner, David Rogers, on Aug-29, 2012. I explained that I was interested in having someone come out to our house for a landscaping project. He agreed and told me that he would meet me on Friday, Aug-31 at 2:30pm. Even though I work during the day and I had to take time off in order to meet, I really wanted to get this project started. Friday 2:30pm we were waiting for David Rogers. 3pm we were still waiting. 3:30...still waiting. 4pm...still waiting. He never showed up. He never even called me again. On that Friday while we were waiting, I called Issaquah Landscaping two more times and left a message that I was waiting and wanted to hear back from David Rogers or someone at Issaquah Landscaping. It has been two weeks. Still not a call back. Issaquah Landscaping and David Rogers are not very professional and, I suspect, that they are not very good at their work. I initially called them because of the reviews here...but I am now suspicious about those reviews as well. Fortunately, I found another landscaping company with good reviews, American Rose Garden. American Rose Garden did excellent work. I would recommend them to anyone looking for great work from professionals. I would NOT recommend Issaquah Landscaping to anyone...unless you want to take several hours off of work to wait around for someone not to show up.

The project was delayed but only due to wet weather. The project took about 2 1/2 weeks because of weather delays. Our backyard lawn is now useable for the first time in years because of better drainage.
Description of Work: Issaquah landscaping installed french drains around the foundation of our house and created tight lines in other areas in our back yard. They also removed a sandstone walkway, added sand and loam to the backyard soil, rototilled, raked, and leveled the back yard soil. They then layed new sod and replaced some of the sandstone walkway. They also repaired our landscape lighting.

David told us that, on the first day, they would arrive at about 9 and that on subsequent days they would arrive at about 7:30 am. They were always punctual. We were impressed by all the trucks and equipment they had. The superintendant on the job, Osmar (sp?), was fantastic. He worked hard himself and supervised a staff of 4 people, all of whom knew what to do and how to do it. We were told that the entire job would take approximately 7 days (not including week-ends and days when they were rained out). I think that is what it took, although it might have been 7 and 1/2 days ( but we added to the scope of the work after it started, by increasing the size of the patio and adding stones along the fence). We have had numerous days of heavy rain since then and the drainage problem has been solved! All the workers paid attention to detail and didn't try to cut corners. At the end of each day, they cleaned off the driveway where they had had the sand or dirt piled. David has been in the business for many years and his professionalism shows! His son, Tony, was actively involved on the project and is also very knowledgable. They aim to please the customer. Home improvement projects are not always pleasurable, but this one was and the results are wonderful.
Description of Work: Each year, our back lawn had become worse until it seemed to be just mud three quarters of the year.We had spoken with two other contractors before David Rogers (about our lawn drainage issue), but one did not give us a quote on paper and the other came up with a rather drastic idea of removing the clay down to 14 inches and replacing with drainage rock and then gravel, etc. It sounded like a septic field. We called two other contractors, left a message about the lawn with a drainage problem and never received a call back. When I called Issaquah Landscaping, I spoke with the owner and set an appointment for a meeting. David came to the house and we told him our main problem -drainage in the the back yard and showed the yard to him. Issaquah Landscaping was a great design/build experience. We stated our problems and David came up with possible solutions. He suggested a course of action that seemed logical to us --remove what grass remained along with some of the muck below, replace with layers of sand, then sand mixed with topsoil and rototil. Then put down more topsoil and the new sod. All that was to be regraded. Also, install a French drain. If we were going to have all that done, we wanted to widen the flower/shrub borders, using curved borders instead of straight lines. We discussed landscaping with larger borders and told him what types of trees, shrubs and flowers we liked. He offered additional suggestions. After the landscaping was to be planted, then mulch would be put down on all the borders. Although we had not planned to upgrade our small concrete patio for a few years, we decided to get a quote for putting it into this project. We were also trying to solve a safety issue -- stepping down from the house onto concrete steps. If one lost one's balance, one could easily fall off the edge about two feet down onto the concrete. We felt that it was an accident waiting to happen. David came up with a good solution--build a small wooden deck at the level of the kitchen door and put stairs down from it, on two sides, with an unobtrusive hand rail next to the house. The stairs would go onto the patio. We were very fond of brick paver patios, in a circular pattern (similar to what we had had at a previous home), so we asked him for a quote on that. So removal of the existing concrete patio and the necessary moving of the sprinkler heads was also to be quoted. We upgraded the little deck from wood to a Trex-type material. Since our front yard is smaller than the back yard and doesn't have the drainage issues but had motley-looking grass, we decided to add that into the project.

We purchased a new home and had to put the entire back yard in. We were referred through a friend and received a quick response from David Rogers at Issaquah Landscape. We were very happy with the suggestions and we did a little work ourselves with the physical labor. A water feature was suggested by David and we thought that would be a cool idea. We Absolutly love our waterfall feature! The neighbors say it looks like a park in the back yard and they also enjoy the sounds of the waterfall. My husband and I would highly recommend this professional Landscaping company.

David and his crew were very punctual and exceptionally well versed in their work. While they were not the cheapest, they were a long shot from the most expensive; some of the latter being bid at three times David's estimate. He stayed true to the estimate, with deviations only when asked by us, or - rarely - when a snag was hit and, say, too little material was ordered. When that did happen, David only charged for the materials; not for the labor. His crew was fantastic. All of them personable, professional, and helpful. The only one which I was not thrilled with was the landscape designer whom he recommended, and were I to do a big redesign again at some point in the future, while I would strongly recommend David and crew, I would pick a different designer. Not and F grade for her, but pretty average - probably just a C/C+. My only complaint with the work was the sourcing of soil from Pacific Topsoil, which turned out to be littered with debris, including broken glass and sharp plastic, but as I've read up since this is a common complaint against Pacific Topsoil, and I don't hold it against David or his team at all. When we had David and crew back out later for some additional work (we added a few more irrigated vegetable boxes), we simply asked that the soil come from Cedar Groves, and the stuff looks good. After living with the yard for a couple of years, we decided we needed to make a few minor updates, and had David and crew back out again, the work was great. Lest people think that the change was a short coming of the design offered up by David's team, they had actually recommended in the first round that we go with what we ultimately decided to change to a couple years later.
Description of Work: We had our complete 1/4 acre corner lot redone, including all landscaping (plants, soil, grass, gravel, river rock, etc), hardscape (pavers, flagstone, concrete for driveway and front porch), planter boxes, fencing, irrigation, drainage (of which we had a lot of problems), and low voltage lighting.

We contacted Issaquah Landscaping for an estimate and the owner, David, met with us to review the project, goals and timeline. David was a pleasure to work with; he arrived on time, discussed ideas and was prompt with an estimate response. David and his team began the project on time and completed the project within the discussed timeline. They were able and willing to make changes on the fly to ensure the project met our vision. We are pleased with the services provided by Issaquah Landscaping and look forward to enjoying our new space.
Description of Work: We recently moved into a home with a backyard in disarray due to a hasty removal of a hot tub/gazebo by the previous owner. The yard is on a challenging sloping hill. There were interesting elements left behind including a stone patio, plantings and lighting/electrical. Issaquah Landscaping reworked our backyard by removing the remaining unusable deck, fixing the low voltage lighting, and installing a level grass lawn, drain, walking path, and plantings (both new and reuse).

Dave (owner) and his team were great. Dave met with us for the original estimate and design and listened to what we wanted and had great suggestions. Once we agreed to what needed to be done, work began on time and finished on time. The quality of the work exceeded our expectations. The team quickly removed all the existing grass and preped the area for the patio. We had a drainage issue with the existing grass. Care was taken to ensure proper drainage into the existing French drain. Paver installation was quick and all stones were fit and cut well. The pergola was well constructed. 6 large cedar beams were sunk in concrete. They cut the existing concrete, sunk the beams, and inserted pavers around the beam to give a nice tied in look with the new paver patio. The vegetable garden was a simple rock border. They added composted soil to the bed so it was ready to plant. They converted my grass irrigation zone to a drip irrigation system for the garden. The landscape lighting is high quality and was a really nice touch. They ran the wiring around to the side of the house to hide the transformer box. This was a good example of how they always looked for the best way to get the job done. All of the team seemed to take pride in their work.
Description of Work: Issaquah Landscaping installed a paver patio that extended the existing patio. A large pergola that covered the existing patio. Landscape lighting around the old and new patio. A small vegetable garden with a rock border and drip irrigation. Also a few shrubs to tie in with the existing landscaping.

Great first impressions but horrible follow up. David Rogers was prompt in response for setting up a time to produce a bid, and actually beat me to the location the day of. Timeliness is a big thing in my book. David demonstrated his knowledge with detailed explanations of what he could do to the property. We left the session on a positive note, and I said I would be in contact after interviewing other companies. The issue I have with Issaquah Landscaping is no estimate/bid ever showed up in my inbox. Needless to say, Im not going to chase someone to give them business...so they were dropped from consideration. After arriving at a conclusion, I typed a direct email to David, expressing my frustration with his non response. That also went unanswered. Not sure what happened, but I would at least expect some type of acknowledgement/accountability. This may be a one time deal for IL, because other angie listers seemed happy with their experience. Hope this isnt a trend. **Update** Wow. What happened to customer service??? Reading Issaquah Landscapings response definitely confirms my bad experience, and am therefore dropping their professionalism grade down (at least he was prompt in defending why he never directly called or emailed). I suppose the job was either too small or too out of the way to complete.

We purchased a new home that had a small 25' x 30' backyard area. There was not much useable space because of a sloping hill that took up about one-third of the area. When Dave came out to look it over and prepare an estimate, he listened closely to what we had in mind and provided some very original ideas on how to maximize useable space. He was very friendly and professional. We received an estimate from him that was very reasonable, and that was also lower than another company that had bid on our small job. The work began within one day of the promised start date. My wife and I got along great with Dave's work crew. They were very hard-working, friendly, highly skilled, and professional in every way. They started on time every day, were respectful of our house and property, and left everything as clean and orderly as possible during the process. When we made some changes and additions to the original work statement during the project, Dave and his crew were flexible in incorporating them. We are extremely satisfied with the work that was performed and we are enjoying our new backyard. It has added immensely to the enjoyment of our new home. As soon as I can, I will add some photos to my report. WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND ISSAQUAH LANDSCAPING !!

They are very professional and timely in their response to my request for a quote. Of the three quotes I got they were the lowest by far. It was so much lower than the other quotes that that is why I didn't go with them, I didn't trust it.
Description of Work: Issaquah Landscaping gave us a quote to eliminate deck and install a blue stone patio. Also, to install two 4 x 10 garden planter boxes and do plantings all around the yard.

Response from ISSAQUAH LANDSCAPING INC.
Wow, the estimate was to low, you don't hear that to often. We had the stone in our inventory for over a year, I just wanted to move it, thought a good price reduction would help, we have sold it since.

I think they were very professional and stuck with their quote. They were easy to work with, timely and kept me informed. They had a big team and it took them 3 or 4 days. The owner's son was on the site working and directing the whole time.
Description of Work: Issaquah Landscaping repaired a stream bed and an area in our yard that was flooded in a large storm. They had to excavate areas of the stream that had been overwhelmed by debris and mud. They also regraded part of our yard and built up the bank of the stream to prevent it from happening again. They used decorative rock, too.

David and his son Tony were a pleasure to work with. We had penciled in the time the prior fall to begin work in the spring. David was right on time with the project. The crew was incredible. They arrived at 8 A.M. and by 8:01 they were already moving dirt. The first week, there were 7 employees working. Everything moved like a well-tuned machine. Price for the job was similar bids, but I chose Issaquah Landscaping because they were so professional. I am actually having them start a 2nd project for me this week.
Description of Work: David was suggested to me by my landscape designer. He brought in huge rocks, created pathways (on a very steep hill), added lights and plants, used pavers to create a beautiful patio area.
