Due to some recent wind storms, the ridge caps on the top of the roof was blown off / missing. The roof is old, but still in decent shape. Unfortunately it did not survive the wind storm. Todd was able to quickly send someone out to take a look and was able to repair it the next day. He quote and was ready to charge me 1/3 of what M&H (another Angi contractor) quoted me, and said if I end up buying a new roof, he will just waive the repair fees. I did end up getting a new roof because the current one is about 25 years old.

Do not use this company! They did not install flashing or an ice barrier but simply used tar paper, and in the PNW that is NOT GOOD! They did not use louver vents just put tar paper up to them. Then they used the WRONG shingles! And to boot, they DO NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY! But they are more than happy to give you a great rate to fix their mistakes! Sure, everyone is super nice, until you try to address LEAKS. And we did question the workers skills when none of them knew how to reinstall the skylight! This business is accredited by the BBB! The owner can normally be found on his yacht in Florida!

Todd and Jim are the coolest roofers ever. I was on a tight schedule to get the roof leak repaired and they were truly a godsend. If you want your roof replaced / repaired you can call any roofer, but if you need a friend who is honest, works hard, and cares for your family & property and happens to know all about roofs, call Emerald State. Winter 2020 the Seattle area was hit by storm after storm with Covid ongoing. Every roofer told me to wait 8 weeks, or replace the entire roof, or simply try someone else. Jim came over the next day and the crew completed the work a week later. Jim is extremely knowledgeable and efficient. He quickly identified the problem after flying the drone over my roof for a few minutes. He is super honest with all my options. The day the crew came, we were just hit with another storm the night before, with fallen branches everywhere and 500,000 households lost their power. One crew member's house was hit by a fallen tree - but he made fixing my roof his priority. BOTTOM LINE - I honestly believe this is the type of small business we need to all support. Honest, knowledgeable pros with integrity. Please please consider them before calling the top sponsored result on Google/Yelp. 5 stars but I'll give them all the stars in the universe if I could.

From the start Todd and Jim were terrific to work with, getting the estimate, e.g., and their explanation of the work they would do was excellent. They kept me informed throughout the project with aerial views. The work crew were very efficient and professional. They cleaned up the area daily. Very pleased I chose Emerald State to replace my shake roof.

In Emerlad State, Todd, the owner, has a business that is top notch all the way. His people are that good. The lead on this crew was Hever, and he is one fine carpenter and framer. This man is all about quality and I highly recommend this talented individual. Hever knows his stuff. Speaking of knowing your stuff. This project involved 2 buildings, the house and a detached garage. There was quite a bit of structural damage to the house which is an open cathedral ceiling. No problem for Hever though. He and his crew fixed all the damage and its so solid I feel like I'm walking on concrete when I'm on the roof. The garage was more or less a typical tear off and replace. They did the garage in the blink of an eye. Oh and by the way, many thanks for Jim. I would not have gotten this project off the ground without his guidance. Jim is Todd's invaluable right hand man. He really knows the Certainteed Integrity Roof System, which I highly recommend. I looked at quite a few roofing systems before Jim sold me on Certainteed and Emerald State. Oh, and if you value communication as much as I do, then you'll really appreciate Jim. He's fantastic, he really is. So in the end, I went with the Northgate Heather Blend Shingle, thank you Jim, and I couldn't be happier. I should also note that they installed a new skylight that looks really great. They were professional from start to finish and did an excellnt clean up. I'm so happy I went with Emerald State. These guys are the best.

The company prides itself in delivering what they promise. This quality shows through the work they perform - they are constantly busy (do they even take breaks?) and SUPER clean. After every day, they would go over the property to pick up even the smallest piece of refuse and make sure that there are not nails for the customer's cars to run over. They tidy up their tools, and materials for the next day's work, and the sake of safety. There are, of course, some things that are out of their control, but those that are will be efficiently executed and as promised. The finished product (new roof in my case) was installed with great care and pride. Neighbours have asked multiple times; "who did you roof? Are they for hire?" Jim Oakley is extremely sensitive to the customers' needs and will address EVERY request or concern in a personal manner. You will NOT be disappointed in this company and its crew.

Emerald State provided an excellent overall experience throughout the entire roofing process. I would highly recommend them for several reasons. These are: 1 - Value. For the price we got the highest quality installation that is possible. Emerald State's quote included all of the additional items that other roofer consider optional, such as ridge venting and a 50 year warranty. When you figure this in, nobody can touch their offer 2 - Workmanship - The crew works meticulously to place all of roofing materials in exactly the right place with the right fit. There are many components that go into the various layers and corners/edges of the roof. On my home, there were several different levels of roof with different edge arrangements. The crew has to take the time to fit all of the materials perfectly so that it looks good and doesn't allow for water penetration. I watched as they worked and they made sure it was done right and looked good. 3 - Comfort during process - The crew worked long and hard to get our job done in a manner that was the least impact on our lives. Each night they would clean up the debris that came off the roof. This included using magnets all over the property to make sure all of the metal was picked up, including the thousands of nails that will come down. Each one of those is a flat tire or injury waiting to happen. The bottom line is that not all roofing companies are the same. Emerald State has figured out how to deliver the best value for your $$ to you, the homeowner.

Make sure when hiring them that you have someone at the residence that speaks Spanish, none of the workers speak enough English to work with. The work was done well but you cannot ask any questions due to the language barrier. I was told that the head worker spoke English but that was not the case.

Todd, the owner, and his crew performed over and above expectations. As an engineer I am normally critical about work, but in this case I am more than pleased. Todd did what he said he would do, and his 3-man crew came early, left late and did outstanding work. I would hire them again any time.

Work was done effectively and at a very reasonable price. They cleaned up afterwards, everywhere on the roof and around the yard. A representative came to our house to go over the details of the contract, warranty, pick materials, colors, etc. He brought roof material samples and marketing material for Certainteed. They use Eagleview Technologies for aerial imaging of the roof to get precise measurements. The materials were dropped off on a Thursday, the dumpster was dropped off on Friday, and work began on Monday. The roof replacement took a little over 2 days - 2 full days and a few hours on the last day for finishing.

The quality so far is good and this pro is very nice, the price is more than I expected though.

I consulted with Shawn on the project to get estimates for painting the interior and exterior of our house. Shawn did a great job working with us on details, making recommendations, and then having one of his crew leads (Jose) meet with us to go over the finer details. They were able to start the project very quickly, and Jose's super-hard-working crew did an absolutely amazing job on both the interior and exterior. We even had them re-paint some trim parts, doors, and cabinets, all done extremely well. When we inspected the job there were a few small places where minor details were missed, and Jose came a couple days later to do the small fix-ups. This was a massive project (4,000 square foot house), and Shawn and Jose did an excellent job, and I'd recommend them to anyone needing a high quality paint job on their house.

From the first person Todd who responded quickly to my request for a bid to do the job to the roofing crew, they were all very professional and did a great job.

We used Emerald State to replace old cedar shake roof with Certainteed Landmark TL asphalt shingles. We collected 5 bids. Todd (Emerald State owner) worked with us and offered the best price and 5-Star Coverage. Good workmanship & good communication. Crew worked fast and finished on time/ahead of schedule, the yard was picked up and cleared of most debris and nails and the roof looked great! I can't say enough good things about Todd and his crew. New roof looking great!!!
