GETTING STARTED: Vic was very, very forthcoming about what to expect and gave us three options to refinish the water damage in the kitchen. We chose to do a larger section to assure a good match w/the existing floors that connect w/the kitchen. We also asked him to replace flooring where there was cat urine (in the kitchen). He gave us a written estimate detailing the work and price. Once the sanding started, it became clear that sanding was not feasible, we needed to replace old wood floors in bedroom (fir floors w/cat urine damage...it was a troubling time for our little female cat; she has since recovered!). Vic stopped work immediately and gave us options and credit for some work already done. BEGINNING THE WORK: A big challenge came up immediately. Their sanding equipment requires a 220V dryer outlet or power source. This was a BIG deal and we had NO idea that they would need that power! My husband was able to provide the power (we had extra circuits that could handle it) and the start of work was only delayed an hour or so. We're hopeful that Vic will be more explicit w/customers ahead of the work as this challenge could have stopped everything or added significantly to the price (we would've needed a generator...yikes!). This issue is why we gave them a lower rating in professionalism. DOING THE WORK: David, onsite sander and floor prep specialist was just magnificent! He discovered further cat urine damage in the adjacent bedroom and alerted us immediately so we could replace quarter round and affected flooring. The fir in the bedroom ended up splitting and nearly disintegrating (original flooring from 1927), so Vic came back for a discussion of options. Again, we had several to choose from w/varying outcomes. We ended up installing white oak flooring and are ecstatic we did! He also offered a flush oak vent cover ($100 extra) and we were SO glad we did that, too! The work progressed and was done just beautifully. Leo installed the white oak in the bedroom and he was masterful...and FAST. We HIGHLY recommend this company...exceptional service, good communication with us, an eye for finish detail, and first rate work.

I had a very good experience with the whole team. Great quality of work, and very professional team. Vic the owner gave me an estimate and he scheduled the work . They were on time and all went very smoothly. Dave did quality work, we highly recommend them.

Update to below. After much emailing back and forth, Elite came out first to put the patch in, then he sent a finisher who came back twice to sand/finish. Job is good. Can't really tell its a patch - Vic was pushing for a full refinish because the patch would be so different. Its not, its fine. Vic was very responsive coming to my home for an estimate. He promptly provided the estimate for a 7 x 8 closet (remodel) and a small 8" x 6" patch where a closet wall was removed. His quote for the less than 60 square feet of red oak hardwood was $1,300. Yes, it is high. But since I had already purchased the coupon, I agreed to it providing he had the ability to complete the job based on my contractors schedule as discussed when he came to my home. I received the estimate in early November and scheduled him to call me the first or second week of December. He didn't call me. I called him the second week in December and informed him I was ready to go the next week, and it needed to be complete so the next job could take place. He said he couldn't do the work until after the new year, even though we were on his 'tentative schedule'. I had to contract with another floor service for the closet so the other work could proceed. They came out, estimated the job, and completed the job the next week. It is beautiful. I did not have them complete the patch as I had a coupon that I already paid for with Elite; so even though I was under the 2nd floor company's minimum with the closet - I kept the patch for Elite. I contacted Elite again via phone and email in December and told him that I only needed the patch job. We scheduled the job to begin the week of January 14 as confirmed in an email from Vic stating that I was scheduled. Vic showed up at my house on Jan 13 with two large bundles of wood, I wasn't home, but my daughter let him in. I contacted him via email on the 13th, and he responded on the 15th. We met the afternoon of January 15 - Vic tried to talk me out of the patch because it wouldn't 'match' exactly (remember, this is an 8" x 6" patch - woven with the other boards would be very small, and it's close to a corner). Vic explained that he was unhappy he didn't get the closet job. I explained that when we first talked, I told him my schedule, and that it was reliant on the other crafts getting their work done. I gave three weeks lead time. Then Vic put me off for another three weeks. Vic quoted me $950 to do the entire bedroom (12' x 11') and another $250 for the patch!! Why would he charge me $250 for a patch, if he is ripping out the old floor and installing all new hardwood?? In any case, I only want the patch. He said the $950 is his minimum charge. Nowhere on the 'Big Deal' fine print did it say he had a minimum charge, no where on his contract, nor did he mention this until the conversation on the 15th. He finally agreed to patch for the coupon ($199 for $500 worth of Hardwood Floor Services). He said I was scheduled for the 14th, he dropped off wood on the 13th... yet, he now says he needs to 'work me into the schedule'. Huh??!!! He also said he would get back to me via email last night. As of now, no phone call or email. I have emailed him for a response. My project is wrapping up now. I must complete this room by January 23. My three options if Vic does NOT respond and complete job by Jan 23 are: 1) Wait for Vic until Jan 18, and if no response proceed with Angie's Lists' complaint process and live with the hole until process complete 2) Wait for Vic until Jan 18, if no response, proceed with another company to fix the hole - proceed with Angies complaint to get my money returned from Vic 3) Wait for Vic until Jan 18, if no response, hire another company and sue for difference in small claims court. Since Vic has not had the benefit of the period to respond until Jan 18, I will withhold my final review until that time. This review is a formality and step one in the complaint process Angies List requires. Aside from my job not being complete yet... I have a problem that the coupon does not state that there is a minimum charge, and that the coupon will not cover that, so while I paid $199 for $500, if he won't do any work for less than $950, it is really $649 for $950. ($950-500=$450. $450 + $199 = $649). This is not so much of a deal and Angies List should take some responsibility.

We needed our hardwood floors refinished, so contacted Elite Hardwood Flooring. The estimate was professional and promptly done. We scheduled an approximate date for the work to be done, for after we returned from a 3 week trip abroad. We contacted Elite Flooring when we returned, and they immediately put us on the schedule for the next week. The work began as scheduled, and the workers arrived on time each day, completing the work as promised. They took extra care to protect our furnishings, and were very professional when moving our appliances and furniture. Our floors turned out beautiful, and we have received many compliments on the finished work. We would not hesitate to use this company again, and would recommend them to anyone looking to have hardwood flooring work done.

Vic arrived on time for the estimate. He diagnosed our floor's situation, measured the dimensions, and emailed an estimate the next day. Due to a cancellation on his schedule, the work was able to be arranged quickly, and convenient to our schedule. Two workers quickly replaced several boards at the beginning of the job; then the actual refinishing started right away. David explained the process as he went, and knew exactly what he was doing from years of experience. There were no problems at all during the several day job. The results were outstanding; we are totally impressed at the outcome and the lack of any issues with the job. These guys are very experienced pros, and really care about their work.

They did everything on time, on budget, and everything looks amazing. My neighbors have came by and state the floors look fantastic. I'm very pleased. Everyone is very professional and very polite. They kept everything very clean.

He is really approachable and was spot on which is great. He is just a down to earth guy who will not diddle people and he is totally honest with his estimations. His responsiveness was excellent and he called me back thirty minutes later. I made a schedule with him to come and see what I wanted to have done and he was right on time. He was great. I am trying to use him and I will totally use him later, because I am just trying to get some money together.

We called Vic and he came over to give us a bid. We thought we knew what we wanted, but Vic was instrumental in steering us to the best solution for our flooring project. We compared Vic and his quote to 3 other companies and none came close to impressing us. Vic wasn't the cheapest nor the most expensive of the 4, but we wanted top quality as a priority over the cheapest. With hardwood floor installation and refinishing it's true, you get what you pay for. Two weeks after our decision, Vic and his team showed up on time and prepared to get the job done. The work was completed, and then Vic inspected every inch of the floor. He's a perfectionist. He was pleased with the results so he had us do the same level of inspection. Sure enough, we didn't find anything that needed correction. What a great experience.
