Sadly I cannot recommend this firm. David who did the actual floor refinishing was extremely professional and did an excellent job. However, I would not work with Vic again in any circumstance. Vic was very prompt to come out and give me an estimate. He was in my house and had every chance to measure or ask whatever questions he wanted. In the estimate he agreed to move the frig and stove, and remove and install new quarter round. I asked specifically if my cats could be in the basement or if the fumes would be too much and I never got a real answer. When he sent Dave out the Saturday prior to starting the job, Dave said that might not be a good idea at all. Since I have to make arrangements for the animals (can't just boot them outside or live in my car) we worked it out that Dave could provide enough of an air barrier that it would be ok. Vic should have had more discussion initially since I asked this question both verbally and in email. Also changed the dates we needed to be out of the house but I had already made hotel reservations - they don't seem to get its not just simple to evacuate your house and it needs to be PLANNED. Showed up promptly on the day the job to start. Very happy with Dave and his work. But Vic had said he would move the frig. When he realized it was a tight space and more difficult than he anticipated he called me at work and told me I needed to find a Handyman and IT WAS MY FAULT because I hadn't told him it was a tight space. I had told Dave earlier that morning and I was assured it was not a problem. After a big yelling match with Vic, he agreed to figure it out and he ended up moving the frig himself. Although he completely gouged my deck in many spots with the frig. Dave completed the floors themselves, they look terrific. Then Vic sent his 'master carpenter' to do the quarterround. What a mess. It doesn't cover the area they pulled the existing quarter round from so now I have walls that show an unpainted area between baseboard and new quarter round. Vic told me again its really my fault because "quarter round is quarter round" Clearly its not or I wouldn't have this problem. With his supposed 30 years of experience I would expect him to anticipate this issue and use a larger piece or at least tell me I'd be let with significant painting to cover those areas that are now exposed. His son tried to move a bunch of furniture but did a crappy job and now there is paint all over various pieces of furniture and scrapes up against the walls. I also have deck damage and a cabinet with a giant chunk out of it. My favorite part was him showing up unannounced to collect his check and ringing my doorbell incessantly. he said he'd be here on Friday at 11:30 - no show but he called he repeatedly over the weekend which I did not respond to as I was busy fixing the quarterround and repainting. He showed up unexpectedly on Monday morning at 8:00 a.m and kept ringing the doorbell - I needed a few minutes to be able to get dressed and even answer the door. It is really unfortunate that Dave does great work but I would not recommend or rehire any company Vic is associated. He's great until any little thing goes wrong and then its the customers fault.

I called in response to a coupon here on Angie's List to repair or replace a water-damaged kitchen hardwood floor. Vic came out, but didn't seem very interested. He didn't return my subsequent phone call. Too bad, because we ended up doing a $10K job with another contractor

Vic with Elite Hardwoods was professional, dependable, punctual, and transparent. From the initial measurement/design discussion through the final visit to clean up some minor details, we were overly satisfied with the process. We had an unpredictable issue come up with the level of one of our rooms and Vic's solution was reasonable, didn't add time to the project timeline, nor did he revisit the original contract pricing/etc. Seemed like he had dealt with this type of issue (and many others) and his experience showed through. Lastly, he was very patient with us as we shopped the quotes around (took about a month), and when we were ready to move forward with his company we scheduled the install right away. Very accommodating. Overall we wouldn't hesitate using Vic and team again, and if they did more than flooring we would be signing contracts now for the next project. If you're reading this Vic - thanks for all your help. Fantastic job.

The provider was professional, timely, and most importantly did excellent work! From the start of the process Vic was timely and very responsive, always answering my emails and phone calls without any lag time. He explained the process and laid out the game plan for ordering wood, time of installation and when I could expect the job to be done. His workers were very respectful of our home and seemed very knowledgable about their craft. Elite Hardwoods is now in my phonebook for future use and I will definitely recommend to any of my family and friends that are looking flooring installation.

Vic was quick to respond, he came to our home and took measurements within a few days. He was honest about the work needed and gave a fair estimate. The work was beyond the scope of what we had planned and therefore the estimate more than our budget allowed. We did not go ahead with the work, but still feel this company deserves an A for the overall experience we did have. We wish them the best and will keep them in mind for the future.

Our floors are beautiful. The process took longer than promised, but only by a few days. Unfortunately, we also had to remind the installers several times to lock our back doors when they left for the day. One item was left unfinished but the contractor came back and completed it in a timely manner. The result is beautiful floors. I will not use them again because we do not need additional work.

Price was good. Vic was accommodating with a last minute start date change due to the kitchen contractor running a couple of days behind. Alex, the installer, was very professional and friendly. He nailed down some existing loose subfloor and his work on the new floor was excellent - looks great. He worked the entire weekend to keep the project on schedule.

He brought a craftsman in to do the hardwood, and sent his delinquent son Andrew as a helper. The helper, Andrew snuck away and slept in his car. I found him doing this twice. Once time his car was running, and it appeared no one was in it. With a closer look, I realized he was in his back seat. As I realized the extent his less than quality work ethics, I began to get a strange feeling. I looked him up on the Washington Courts website, and he and his twin brother have a lot of trouble with the law. When the workers moved my Large quality rugs into my garage (knowing they cannot be put down for 8 weeks after floor has been re-done the layer them half-assed rolled up blocking my freezer and workbench in a very large garage with many other areas in which to store. When attempting to move my range back in they did not have the proper lift belts, or floor protectors and asked me if I had anything that would work to protect my floors. Another contractor happened to be on the property that that lent him the necessary floor protector. I found this disturbing because he (owner of company) assisted in moving out the range and should have knowledge that this appliance cannot slide on new finish ad have readily a piece of this material. I kept getting the feeling that this was the first floor he had ever been hired to do! I asked the owner, Vic to only allow his son Andrew on site when he could watch him, but Vic dropped the ball. Andrew was either in my bathroom (not sure exactly what he was looking for), or in his car, texting, smoking on my property or hiding somewhere where I could not find him. Even under the owner?s supervision, Andrew bashed a ladder against my oak cabinetry or could not be located on my gated property on several occasion in one 3 hour period of time. Vic puts his customers at risk each time he sends his sons on jobs. If you hire Vic to do your floors, be sure to do your research, and take time off work so you can guard your house. Do not blink or the son will vanish to parts unknown, likely into your private areas. Vic broke/shattered my gas range and we had no way to cook our Holiday dinner. He left the broken glass and the broken door for me to dump. I fired him today. He is not allowed to come back and I will be filing a complaint. As a final surprise, Vic sent me a new bid with same date stamped on it, with different figures that were never discussed. He accused me of making up numbers to fix my custom broken tile, with a bid that he thought I got too soon, his words were to the effect that he was amused that I cold get a bid that quickly. He is a bully. If you are tempted by Vic's bid, think twice, read the Yelp comments as well. Vic lacks integrity and honesty. Damage thus far: $1500 1.Did not place contractor?s License on Bid 2.Refused to provide lien release of laborer until I sent him proof that it is the law if I request it. 3.Did not provide disclosure statement (required by law) 4.Unethical treatment ($) of employees 6.Has two sons who are helpers, both with current and recent criminal pasts 7.Makes promises he cannot keep Below is a copy and paste from the Washington State Courts: http://dw.courts.wa.gov/index.cfm?fa=home.home and a sampling of the trouble the owner?s sons are in, and this is not in entirety, was there is an ongoing criminal case unresolved. Do you want Vic to send his thugs to do your floors??? The above information is my opinion if I have not stated a case number. The information I have provided is true and accurate to my knowledge. Updated details: My range has not worked properly since Vic broke the door manhandling it, after a large fee to fix the broken glass, the oven does not heat. It is a new stove, just installed and working properly before he reefed on it. He is in the negatives on this job, he is now owing me. It is certainly not what I bargained for. I did not want to babysit his criminal son, did not want him to manhandle my range, and so much more. Considering a claim soon, found another person is same situation with him.

VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER! After numerous calls to other providers with negative results, I contacted Vic at Elite Floors. He responded immediately, did not try to oversell the project as others did. The job went absolutely smooth, his crew was always on time - and worked hard. Vic said he would closely match the new wood with the existing hardwood - others said they would not be able to do that and claimed that the existing floor would have to be re-done. Well, Vic did - the new and existing hardwood are a very near match. In the near future, we will have our existing hardwood floor refinished by Elite. Most important, we had 3 coats of non-toxic finish put on and I did not have to be out of the house more than 4 hours.

Worked with Elite/Vic to do 1020sq ft of hardwood floors including 620 sq ft new floor and 400sq ft of refinishing existing hardwood floors. Summary: They have provided low quality work, lower quality rework, unable to keep timelines, unresponsive phone calls and emails, would leave the house to make appointments with potetinal clients instead of working to resolve issues, damage to house, stain on the walls, broken furniture and an inoperable appliance. We need to find an other flooring contractor to come in and completely redo their work. Pictures of the work and issues are at: http://sdrv.ms/195TwnB Details: We have existing hardwood floors throughout our upstairs. The job with Elite was to match the downstairs floors to the upstairs. This would include refinishing 400sq ft of existing hardwood floors and 620sq ft of new (remove existing carpet and install new wood flooring. - First attempt had major issues with the finish and they needed to redo the work. - We received no notice from Vic or Elite that they needed additional days to complete the work. - During the staining and top coat process we needed to be out of the house. Knew this up front and planned for 4 nights away. - We came home on the agreed upon day only to find that Vic and crew where in the house still working. - Where told we could not enter the house as the floors where still wet in places and we'd need to be out of the house an other 4 nights. - No clear explanation or proof was presented as to why. We were only told there was issues with the top coat and some boards warped. - It was obvious at the time point that the stain used on the floors did not match the existing floors as agreed upon. - Talked to Vic about the incorrect stain being used and he said it would dry and match. - Came back to the house after the unplanned nights - Stain color used was called Coffee, the existing floors where Ebony. These two colors clearly don't match. - Even after talking to, calling and emailing Vic of the color mismatch, they continued to completely finish the floors including top coat. - At this point we've been out of the house 4 extra days and incurred $557 in unplanned hotel costs. - After talking to Vic and pointing out that Elite was walking over the existing floors and expected stain color every time they where in the house and that we told them the wrong color was being used, Vic agreed to completely redo the floors. - This meant we needed to wait a week for the top coat to dry before it could be sanded off. - Continued to live with half of our house in the garage. - No fridge or stove in the house - Bathroom toilet and sink sitting on the back patio - Fridge sitting next to the front door of our house - Also frustrating because during the install and sanding process prior to staining Elite continuously talked poorly about our existing floors and quality of work, they kept telling us how much better their job would be. - The coffee color stain was sanded off the following week - We had to be out of the house an other 4 nights, more costs incurred. 8 unplanned nights so far out of the house. - This time the correct stain was used and matches the existing floors as expected from day one. - That's where the good news ends. - Issues with the second correction - Worked took longer than expected, one day longer this time than promised. - I stopped by the house towards the end of the staining and top coat process and found -- Our house key was missing from the wide open lockbox on the front door. No one was in house. -- Top coat has visible scales and bubbles in it you could see thru the closed windows and from the garage into the house -- Called Vic about the missing key and quality issues, did not hear back from him and had to call him till I got a hold of him over 24 hours later. -- Now we can add re-keying costs to the unplanned hotel costs -- No explanation of where our house key went was made - Tried to walk thru the house and quality issues with Vic after they'd finished reinstalling the baseboards and appliances -- Vic left after we looked at one area, he had a potential new customer to met with rather than dealing with us. -- Our gas stove no longer worked after being reinstalled. - Two days later Vic came by to walk thru the house -- I found a 123 different poor quality areas and marked with masking tape, walked thru with Vic on these. -- Issues included: --- Broken table --- Stain on fixtures --- Stain on walls --- Broken baseboard --- Insect sealed in the top coat, we call this our kitchen fossil --- Hole in a wall --- Gouges in various walls, all of these gouges match and I'd guess line up with one of the sanders --- Gas stove not working and poorly reinstalled --- Debris, screws, and various fasteners in the pantry --- Pantry shelves not reinstalled --- Piece of flashing loose, no idea where this goes --- Piece of baseboard/trim not installed --- Loose baseboards and some far away from the wall --- Deep gaps in seams between boards throughout the install area --- Gaps between boards that look like little mouths popping out --- Swirl marks from the re-staining work --- Wavy areas in the top coat --- Scaly areas in the top coat - Vic's offer for a third attempt is to apply an other layer of top coat (the clear sealant), he also agreed to reduce the final bill by $557 to cover 4 of the 8 unplanned nights out off the house. Issues with this: -- We'll need to be out of the house an other 1 or 2 nights, more cost to us. -- Does not pay to put new locks in or rekey the house from the missing door key. -- Does not fix the gas stove -- Does not repair the baseboard install work -- Does not remove the visible swirl marks all over the floors -- Does not fix the large gaps in between the boards. You can stub your toe on some of these. -- Does not repaint the walls -- Does not remove stain from door knobs and other areas like inside the front door and garage doors -- Does not replace the broken table -- Does not address the fact we're over two weeks past the promised completion date -- Does not give me back the two days I spent resealing the base board, touching them up, repairing damage to walls, and repainting walls. -- May fix the wavy areas, scaly areas, and removal of the insect in the top coat. I say may, because of the trend of poor work we've experienced so far. There's no confidence that future work would meet expectations or not result in more damage to our house. We are at the point now where close to half of the cost of the work has been paid for. We've not made the final payment since the work is below acceptable quality and the offer from Vic for an other top coat does not address most of the issues. Vic is now trying to put a Claim of Lien on our house for the remaining money. It would have been nice if he reduced that by the $557 he promised in writing to reduce the bill from the first re-work attempt. It does not surprise me though and is consistent with our experience of failed promises from Vic/Elite. Up to the lawyers now to sort it out.

We had a little difficulty in scheduling between Vic being popular, and my having other remodel work done that made it impossible to access the room that needed refinishing for quite a while, but once we finally found a mutually functional date it was smooth sailing. They were in & out in 3 days. They were very careful with the quarter-round baseboard removal and re-installation so none of the board cracked, they cleaned up after themselves well. I'm very happy with the service and already talking to Vic about another project for sometime next year

I requested a quote online and the provider contacted me to set up a good time for an estimate. We set up a time in the afternoon (3:30pm on a Monday), and my boyfriend made sure to get off of work early to be at the house for the estimate. The provider did not show up for the appointment, or call to cancel. I did receive a phone call the following day with an apology for not showing up and a request to reschedule. I declined. I will not be using a company for such a big project if they cannot handle the basics like showing up for an estimation appointment or at the very least, communicating that they will not be showing up.

We were quoted two weeks to complete the project, starting the last week of April. The second week was to finish the existing, and the new floors, with Swedish finish. We went on vacation that week to avoid the odors. When we returned as scheduled, we discovered the finish was completed the day of our return and we could not sleep in the house due to the odor. And that was the best part. From there it went down hill. The stairs were not complete, and what was done was wrong and had to be redone. Elite recommended we pay extra for them to move the refrigerator, so we agreed. The stainless refrigerator was damaged moving by their workers. Both doors have to be replaced. Multiple places walls and millwork were damaged by the workers. The carpet where new hardwood met at doorway openings and stairs, was left loose and untrimmed. Elite said I must hire a carpet company to do this work. The toilet was removed by Elite workers to refinish existing hardwood. Upon reinstallation, the toilet was broken by Elite workers and the bathroom flooded with water on the new finished floors. We cleaned up the water, purchased a new toilet and installed it. There were 16 places with poor Swedish finish (drips, dirt, runs and unpolished areas). All were marked with blue tape. Elite said they would take care of them. After having workers come by multiple times to repair these defects, and after nearly two months, some are still not repaired, including a permanent shoe print in the finish. We will not use this company for floor work again.

The owner, Vic, was pleasant to work with and the price was far lower than another estimate we received. David, the person who did all the work on the floors, was excellent to work with. He helped us to figure out what would be best for the two different floors in Kitchen and rest of house so that they would tie in well, but still work with the different grains of oak. He was very pleasant and patient with me (I'm a fussy client who takes time to make a decision) and his great sense of humor helped ease my anxiety. Also, though the job required more work than expected (installing a few new boards) David worked on the weekend to get the job done by the date we had set. I would definitely recommend this company.

It took a while to finally get scheduled, but once it was, the guy Vic sent, i cant remember his name, did an excellent job sanding and refinishing. The job took longer than expected (3 days, but not full days), but the guy was very thorough. The sanding was very clean, i never saw any dust, and when it was time to put the finish down, he taped everything off well and hung plastic to help keep the smell out of the main living area. Vic and his crew definitely want to do the jobs the right way and not cut corners. I took off most of the baseboards, but left everything in the closets in-tact, not thinking i really cared if the closets looked perfect. The guy didnt force me in to anything but he made good points why i really should take the extra 5 minutes to do a good prep job. I agreed with Vic prior to the service that i would be removing all the necessary trim, but they would do it as well if you wanted them to. My only complaint in the whole project was that it took over 6 months from buying the deal through angies list, to have the work done. It felt like the daily deal was a means to get in the door, but they really wanted to talk me in to doing more work than the deal included. I only wanted what i had paid for, so i believe i got put low on the priority list. In the end, the job was done, and a great job was done. More was done than i was under the impression i would be getting. Im impressed by how much better they were able to make my very old hardwood look. Originally i just want to have it refinished to buy some time before we would replace it with something else. Seeing it now, theres no way we are going to replace it.

Vic came to the house, surveyed the work to be done and gave us a couple of options. Returned a few days later to give us stain samples. Started the work on time and finished on time.
Description of Work: Vic refinished our hardwood floors, they came out looking great.

No work was done other than the estimate
Description of Work: I purchased the $350 coupon from angie for 200 sq ft of hardwood floors to be refinished. All is good until the contracter informed me it would cost $900 for my 250sq ft of flooring. that was above the $350 I had already spent on coupon.200 sq ft . I guess the kicker was trying to charge me $75ea to pull out and push back range and refridgerator. Thankfully Angie's list refunded my $350.00 dallors for the coupon.

We plan to have Elite Hardwood Floors back in the future to do the same to the rest of our house. This is necessary as we could only vacate half the house for the first job. All work was completed on time and within quoted price. We were always able to contact Vic whenever necessary to set up schedules and arrangements. Elite Hardwood Floors has my recommendation. As far as I know, the Swedish finish that was applied is essentially the best available, most durable finish. However, you need to consider that you have to leave the house when it is applied, because of the fumes. We got a hotel room for three nights. Vic advised us of this in his initial visit, and we decided it was worth it to get this high quality finish. The hardwood was delivered several days before work started and placed in the work area. This was to allow it to acclimatize to the ambient temperature and humidity. On the first day of work, two workers arrived and placed and nailed the hardwood. They put down the floor very tightly and then it was allowed to rest a few more days. When finishing started, the first step was sanding and application of filler. Then followed about three days of sanding, finishing, sanding, and so on. The total time from delivery of hardwood to job completion was about nine days.
Description of Work: Vic and his workers laid down a totally new 3/4 inch thick red oak hardwood floor on top of new 5/8 inch thick plywood underlayment that I had previously installed. Then they filled, sanded, and finished it with three coats of Swedish finish. The results were absolutely stunning and exceeded our expectations. The finished-in-place red oak provides a very warm, pleasing, classic look that is hard to find these days even in brand new high dollar homes.

They didn’t show up for the first appointment. He was apologetic about forgetting and he came back for another appointment. He was very nice, however his estimate was more expensive than the other estimates I had received. I elected to go with another company based solely on price differences.
Description of Work: I had them out for an estimate to repair the hardwood floor.

Vic & his team were a delight to work with! Very straightforward, professional, and produced an outstanding floor finish. They will definitely be the team I call on to do the next finishing project in the living room.
Description of Work: Vic & his team sanded down approx a 13 x 15 space and refinished with a beautiful Swedish finish. They used 3 grades of sandpaper to remove many carpet tack holes and scratches, several were fairly deep. The finish was applied in 3 different coats and allowed to fully dry between layers.

He showed up told me that the coupon was worth 500 even though the ad said 950 He said I needed a more expensive process to match my other floor /he bid both processes. The bid for the advertised process was 1050$. It should have been 210 $ because I had already paid the 350 coupon and it was 270 sq ft /so it should have been 350 coupon for first 200 ft then 3 dollars per ft for the 70 extra. Or 210- He bid 1050. He also stated on the bid that his bid was" less the coupon price" so the coupon price would have been 1050 plus 350 for sanding and refinishing 270 sq ft of hardwood floor/ using 2 coats of oil based Poly Plus tax. He did add on work of removing and replacing trim but I am going to have my contractor do that work/ it needs new trim, clearly. The trim is beat up so adding the same trim back would have been bad. Even so it should not have cost 1190 dollars for that. 840 plus 350. I can provide a written copy of the bid if needed.
Description of Work: He did a bid but it was much higher than advertised. I want the money back for my coupon. I did not go ahead with the work. The bid was not as advertised

He arrived to look at the project. He started adding up costs to move furniture and appliances, to replace the base moldings and cover the furniture. He also advised there was a little more square footage and additional coating of stain and lacquer. In the end, it would have been at least $900.00 to do the project. I have decided to get a refund.
Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal for 200 sq ft of hardwood floor.
