These guys at Castle Walls saved my rear. I had a big graduation party planned (with invitations already sent out) for my son with about 80 people coming and a clear timeline to deal with. Another contractor (not on Angie's list), who had done other less complex landscaping for me, had oversold his ability and ended up being overwhelmed once he started and realized the complexity of the job. He did not have the tools and equipment he needed saying he would be renting them and he and his crew was clueless and did a lot of standing around trying to decide what to do next. After a couple of days of watching the slow progress and with my having to stop them several times and instruct them when the boss/owner was not there (which was most of the time) it became painfully obvious that they were the wrong people for the job and I terminated them even though my back yard was all torn up. Then I called McLendon's Home Services and explained my predicament and time crunch and they linked me up with Castle Walls. The guy that they originally linked me up with had a family emergency so the owner, Roger, met with me and looked at the jobsite and found a way to squeeze my job into what is the peak of the season on very short notice. Thankfully, they are big enough and he could tell I was panicking and took on this job. These guys really know what they are doing. It was obvious when they walked on my property that they had done this many times before. They never stood around, always moving with purpose like they knew what the next step was. There were many cuts to be made especially on the stairs where they had to custom cut almost every piece (including the caps) due to the access from two different directions. Plus, one side of the stairs butted up against an exististing wall of other stones that remained in place. They had all the right tools and equipment and did not ask to borrow any of mine like the first contractor. I do not feel like Roger overcharged me compared to other bids, even though he easily could have due to my predicament. I went to the Mutual Materials facility in Bellevue to pick up the materials with Roger and everyone knew him by name which confirmed for me that these guys are very experienced at "hardscape" construction. They were very professional and I cannot say enough good things about these guys. You will not be sorry you used them.
