Most phases of construction are completed by our experienced craftsmen to ensure top quality workmanship. Fixed price contracts are standard but we often do hourly contracts for repair work.
He was punctual and thorough with his measurement. Left with the understanding that he would mail me the estimate after doing some research on the building permit. I never received it or heard from him again.

I have never received a bid or received any furhteer contact from the contractor. I assume the contractor didn't want the job.
Description of Work: Contractor was very difficult to contact by phone. When we did connect and set a date to look at the project I had to wait about ten days for him to be avaialbe. He arrived on time on the appointed day. We reviewed the job. The contractor said that a a bid would be provided.

Everything went great! Scott and his crew came in on time; putting up the shed that matches the house. Everything, from the custom design to the final product went great! They knew what had to be done and did it. After they left, there was absolutely no indication that they had been working in the yard - everything was neat and tidy.I will use Scott again, the next time I have a project that needs to be done.
Description of Work: Design and consturction of a custom shed, 8x10, including metal 36" wide door, three duplex outlets, two lights (1 interior and 1 exterior), gutters & downspouts and painted to match house. Also removed river rock around one gate and poured concrete (exposed aggregate) that matched the existing driveway, patios and steps.

Response from Norsebuilt LLC
This potential client has an unpermitted add-on structure at her waterfront residence that was built by an unlicensed "contractor". Like many projects of this sort, the structure is riddled with serious life and safety code violations and an extreme mold condition. This was the type of project that is worthy of any Mike Holmes TV production and should be a lesson to homeowners who want to cut corners to save costs on home improvements! She asked if I could provide a free estimate to fix the mold problem as cheaply as possible. I informed her that the mold problem existed because of substandard construction practices and the structure needed to be completely demolished. Everything about it was incorrectly built on top of a 4" thick concrete patio and it did not have a correctly built supporting foundation or piers. This was in addition to the dozens of other construction defects. She then tried to persuade me into doing the work without a permit and without a proper foundation to save on cost, as she thought that the old patio slab beneath the structure would be "just fine" for support. She also asked that the work be performed as quickly as possible without the delays that a permitted project would bring- especially since her home is on the waterfront with critical habitat considerations that might cause further delays in the permit process. I informed her that I was not willing to do the work without a permit and it was this type of thinking that caused all of the problems in the first place. She then became very rude and confrontational. Although the quote I gave her for the work may have been out of her anticipated budget, it was not too high. I gave her the right price to do the work correctly and with the required building permit. My hope was that she might eventually come to her senses and get the necessary financing to have the project done right. Sadly, it is unpermitted projects like this one performed by unlicensed contractors (a.k.a. "Craigslist Cowboys") that continue to erode existing home values in our community and contribute further to the pollution of Thurston County wetlands and waterfront. I would not do business with this Angie's List member in the future.

Scott and his team(BJ and John especially) were outstanding - I wish I could give them an A+ They will finish painting the exterior some time tomorrow or at the latest, Wednesday, 8/3/2011 My original call was for some siding that needed to be replaced, as well as the fencing around the property. I also had some addtional work that I wanted taken care of, which was to be billed at time and materials. It turned out I had more problems than what I thought, including carpenter ants in one wall. They had to replace the ledger board and several studs in the exterior wall after I got the exterminator out to kill the colony - they found this the first day (Monday) and by Wednesday the wall was fixed and ready for the Tyvek going on before the new siding. They showed up early every day, and did a fantastic job keeping me informed and cleaning up after. I knew that a couple of change orders we asked for to get some addtional things taken care of would cost more, but the estimates for the changes were very reasonable. While I did not have enough budget to cover complete residing of the house, everything that I needed to get done was done well, at a reasonable price with limited disruption of my schedule. I will probably get the front and back of the house re-done in a couple of years, and I will definitely call on Scott again! I have been recommending Liberty to all my co-workers and friends.
Description of Work: Re-siding two sides of the house, replacing water damaged exterior siding and carpenter ant damaged ledger boards. Replaced 725 feet of new fencing with 3 gates (had to work with my 5 neighbors), re-hung an exterior door and installed new moulding around two front windows (which did not have moulding originally. The replaced several old vents with newer ones and also caulked seams that were still on the old siding. Painted the whole house. Original estimage was: $19,400 Additional work from change orders was about $1000, so they came in on budget! They took a little over two weeks to complete the all the construction - even worked in the rain to make sure we had not damage to the interior of the house. They used top quality, "green" insulation in the sections of the house that had water/ant damage.

When I had a large yellow jacket infestation handled, the exterminators discovered that my siding was badly damaged from a leak I thought was fixed 10 years ago. I checked Angie's list in addition to asking for bids from three other contractors, one who had done work for me before and the others were referrals from friends. I received Scott's bid in a timely manner. It was detailed and reasonable. Even though I was pleased with the other contractor's work in the past, I just felt right about Scott. He's very professional, keeps his word and does excellent work. He also finished on time and within his bid. He's honest and pleasant to work with. He hires good people and they just have good energy to be around. My dog, Toby, concurs! They did a beautiful job. The bee's nest was nasty--they cleaned all of that out of the wall and when the job was done, my house looked great and I even found a nice small stack of left over pieces of siding neatly stacked in my wood shed for kindling. Nice touch! I would hire Scott again with no hesitation. I'm also recommending him to friends. Thanks Angie's list--it really paid off to be a member!!
Description of Work: Tore out a mess of rotted siding, some framing damage and a huge bee's nest--already dead. They had to remove the window and repair some of that framing which included some work on the inside of my laundry room. I had some siding for replacement, but they found additional siding to match my discontinued siding.

Job went smoothly. Job was finished before deadline and the finished product was better than expected.
Description of Work: I worked with Liberty Contracting on my first fire claim as an insurance agent. I first called Scott Childress on a Saturday in December of 2008 during a snow-storm, just two weeks before Christmas. He drove to Tenino to help me secure the house and assess the damage. The following days we met with the adjuster and Scott worked with the adjuster to complete the estimate for the restoration quickly. More than half of the roof structure was destroyed and the entire interior of the house was either badly burned or had severe heat and smoke damage. From the time that the owners signed, Scott had the house completed and ready for them to move back home in just 80 days. Liberty Contracting was very timely and professional to work with, the quality of their work was excellent, and I would definitely use them for restoration work in the future.
Scott and his crew were very prompt, courteous and respectful. When the job was finished he cleaned the work area really good---that was an added bonus!!
Description of Work: After having a water leak in our kitchen, we were using a makeshift sink and kitchen area for close to a month. I found Liberty Contracting LLC in the phone book under "water damage". Scott was quick to respond and negotiated directly with my insurance company to get new countertops and carpet pad approved that was damaged during the removal but not initially approved for replacement. In addition to the water damage in the kitchen we decided to have Scott go ahead and paint two rooms in our house and remodel a bathroom. The project still stayed on schedule and was completed in four days. It was a wonderful after having waited so long to have our kitchen back, better than new!

When wanting to add a 1,000 sq ft addition to my home, Liberty Contracting came up with a great solution to the wetland buffer that was preventing me from building outside the existing footprint of my home. They added a 2nd story to my rambler with a new office/den, master suite and full bathroom. They were very professional, took great care to protect my existing kitchen and living area, and I was able to move back into my home with my beautiful new addition in just under 10 weeks. My new office/den area was complete with skylights, a wall of shelves behind my desk area and a lovely wood stove. I was so impressed with their work that I decided to have them replace all of my windows, replace the concrete walkway leading to my front door and completely repaint the exterior, as well as repair a few areas of siding and fascia that had dry-rot damage. The only warranty issue was with the ducting for the heating system and they came out and adjusted the air flow immediately. I was impressed with the quick response and solution to a minor warranty issue. I would definitely hire them again and highly recommend them to anyone thinking of improving their home. There were no hidden fees or extra costs added on, in the end I paid exactly the price contracted for the second story. Liberty Contracting are very skilled, professional builders, I couldn't be happier with the job they did for me.
Description of Work: Liberty Contracting held my hand through the complete process of planning, designing, shopping, building and cleaning up the construction of a second story to my 3 bedroom rambler. After planning, designing and getting the proper permits on my behalf, Liberty Contracting constructed a beautiful second story which included an office/den with floor to ceiling shelves, an awesome woodstove and excellent lighting, a master suite with walk-in closet and master bath. To complete the seconded story Liberty Contracting had to extend the existing fireplace, extend the existing outside porch area, replace the front sidewalk leading up to the front door. They were so professional, offering suggestions free of charge to me in the old existing living area, such as moving light switches around, removing a brick planter box, electrical wiring for a new ceiling fan and moving my ceiling kitchen light for me. In addition to the second story Liberty Contracting also removed and disposed of an underground oil stove tank, relandscaped the area and replaced it with a HVAC unit. I was truly impressed at their willingness to go above and beyond what was contracted. Liberty Contracting was genuinely cared and was very conscienious down to the smallest detail.

Response from Norsebuilt LLC
The quote that we gave the member was for $13,680, including the three skylights. He had the option to upgrade to a 50 yr. comp roof for an additional $800, putting the max bid to $14,480, not the 15K he has stated. We had no way of knowing that the client wanted plywood roof sheathing rather than OSB as the member never returned phone calls or any other attempts at communication. OSB sheathing is an industry standard with proven performance for decades. Unless a customer specifies a comparable product, we use products that are standard in the industry. Our bid for the work was more competitive than the client is letting on and had the client communicated his desire for a plywood substrate rather than OSB we would have been happy to accommodate him. In closing, we are limited in ways we can help a customer who does not communicate his needs with us.

The front porch on my 23-year old house had rotting boards. I called Doc, and he came out to the house, looked at the porch, and provided me an estimate based on the type of materials that I requested. Doc performed the work with great skill and care. He ran into some unexpected additional rotting under the porch, and he tried to contact me immediately to consult on the next course of action. Doc performed the additional necessary work and finished the job in a reasonable amount of time, considering the extra needed work. The porch looks great! I was really pleased with Doc. He was open and honest to deal with.

My roof had moss and the roof over the garage leaked, including the skylights. Scott Childress and Doc came out and reviewed the roof and the skylights. They prepared an estimate and responded to my questions. They called me to coordinate the start of their work to ensure that it met with my timing requirements. I also had certain requests that I had mad before they started working, and they worked with me and respected my requests. They worked full work days to get the work done as diligently as possible, yet their work was contentious. They maintained a clean and safe work environment while they were working and cleaned everything up each night at the end of the day. Scott and Doc provided me professional recommendations and advice, as I requested their help. It was a great experience working with the Liberty Contracting crew. I plan to enlist their help in designing a deck for my house in the near future.
Description of Work: Replaced existing roof with new 50-year Pabco Roof. Work included taking up and replacing six sheets of plywood, and replacing 5 existing skylights.
