Blue Tile and Marble responded quickly, but immediately said that grout issues will never cause leaking. Literally any amount of research speaks to the contrary. The individual then said the shower must be replaced entirely and said I should send pictures so they could quote me on that job. It seems like they are just trying to get more money by doing an unnecessary and expensive job, when all I asked for was a quote to redo the grout in the shower.

We appreciated how punctual and knowledgeable they were about their work. They rightly guided us in the right direction with our grout. Nice guys. Previous homeowners had DIY installed pebble shower floor. Pebbles started coming loose and there were cracks in the grout. Hadrian helped us assess the best replacement for the pebble floor. We settled on tile since it is a custom size shower and couldn't find a shower pan that would fit. He also replaced the liner and fixed concrete below to ensure we didn't have any other issues. All this while preserving as much of the tavertine shower wall as possible. He did a great job matching our current colors, tavertine tiles that need to be replaced, and grouting.

Great. Hadrian gave us a good estimate of how much tile and grout to order and it was almost exactly perfect. Before he did anything that had options, he let us know and fully walked us through the differences before we made a decision. He also scheduled the work out so that we could still utilize the house (the tile areas blocked all walkways to the upstairs) by stepping carefully around small sections. His work was well done and am planning to hire him again when we finally redo our master bath. He also complete tile install for some family members and they were also very happy with his work.

Everything went perfectly! The problem was in our daughter's house, and we live out of town. Our daughter would need to be at work, so I agreed to come up so that I could be there while Hadrian was doing the work. I talked to Hadrian about two weeks before I was coming up, and he set aside a block of time to do the job.During the two weeks before I came up, I had many questions for Hadrian. He always answered my calls, and texts, practically immediately. Hadrian, and Daniel, were at the house promptly each day, and they did an amazing job of clean-up at the end of each day.Hadrian had all the tools he needed, including some very specialized tools. He was extremely precise in the work he did, and I could see that he takes pride in his work. Hadrian told my that he has made a concentrated point in doing a very professional job, and making sure that he always puts himself in the customer's place, because he wants to make sure that he does a job that leaves people feeling secure while he's working, and completely satisfied with the work when he's done. Hadrian and Daniel took out the bathroom walls, to the studs. They tiled both bathrooms, with subway tiles, and decorative strips and wall boxes. We had both bathrooms done exactly the same, except for the accent colors. Hadrian installed new faucets, showers, and grab bars. He also reinstalled the shower rod in one bathroom, and the sliding doors in the other bathroom. The work that he did is absolutely beautiful! I've attached a photo, but the work is even prettier in person, because it's so bright and cheerful. I didn't include a photo of the other bathroom, because I forgot to take a photo before the sliding doors were reinstalled. Hadrian and Daniel cleaned everything up after they finished the complete job. I had to tell them that they were, "cleaning it cleaner" than it was before they got here. If my daughter needs to hire a tiler in the future, it will be Hadrian!
Description of Work: We needed the tile replaced on the three walls, surrounding tubs, in two bathrooms. The house is old, and the tiles had started falling off the walls in both these bathrooms.

Could not have been more satisfied. Hadrian is an honest contractor who was totally reliable, competent, and helpful. He provided a detailed estimate and even went to major suppliers to help us select tiles and fixtures. Hadrian is quite artistic and assisted us to get the look that we wanted. He even gave us guidance on how to get the best prices by using secondary suppliers or Amazon. Hadrian and his assistant Daniel were a joy to work with. We always knew when they would come and never had to go looking for them. They were the two hardest workers that I have ever seen and had a variety of high level skills to match their industry. They were with us for 5 weeks and worked long hours for six days a week. The job was fantastic and done to a high standard. I would not hesitate to hire them again.

Hadrian did a great job! He provided me with a timeframe and showed up on time and contacted me if there was a problem. He spent extra time making sure my bathroom floor was level prior to installing the tiles (It needed several bags of concrete). He made sure the finishes looked good. He corrected some issues with my wall so that the heavy glass shower door could be properly installed. We have been using our bathroom for a couple weeks now and couldn't be more pleased. Family/Friends are impressed and we would hire him again.

It was wonderful to work with Hadrian. He was able to start the project much sooner than the other contractors we contacted and had a better price, too. He worked with me to help me get the right tile and was very patient when we had some setbacks (the tile was delayed, the toilet was backordered, etc). He completed the job quickly and always responded right away via text if I had questions about materials or scheduling. Our house is old (late 1930s) and almost all the walls, including the bathroom walls, are lath and plaster. Hadrian had to remove the lath and plaster under the tile surround and rebuild with drywall before laying the new tile, and he did a great job. He also reinforced the wood underneath the tile floor where it had started to sink and warp and was able to get the new tile level and even with the door. The bathroom looks beautiful now and we're so happy to have it done!

We worked with Hadrian Pop, the owner. We became very frustrated with the constantly changing requirements. We decided if we were already having problems now it would likely only get worse so we decided to walk away. My husband initially met with the contractors, based on appointments I set up, to get estimates. Of the three Angie's List services we contacted, one sent an estimate without a visit and two came to the house. Blue Tile was one of those two. Both contractors were pleasant to talk to and offered similar estimates with Blue Tile slightly under. My husband felt comfortable with Hadrian so we gave him the green light although he did reschedule the estimate three times. He sent us a detailed estimate via email. I talked with Hadrian on the phone and we continued communicating by email. As part of the project we needed to pick out tile and plumbing fixtures for the tub/shower surround. He said if we used one of his suppliers they would would provide a contractors discount and he would pass that discount on to us. No markup. He provided us the names of the companies. He sent us links to two tile contractors so we could make our tile choice. This was July 2. We told him we could be ready to proceed mid-August. He responded July 8 that he did not have any openings in August but did in the first/second week of September. He said he needed a non-refundable $300 deposit to secure the spot but that I could "have an easy mind that on the week marked your project will start". September was fine with us. July 9 I asked him for a September date and he replied that he had signed up three contracts in the last week and would provide an official date when he could do it for sure. I replied July 10 with the question, you can't give me a September start date at this time? He replied he would send the date and it might even be for the end of August but he would let me know that day (July 10) after 7 pm. Six days later, July 16, he emailed "We can do it next week if you ready please let me know". What? Four days from now? He had said he was completely booked until September? That all the materials had to be on-site? How was that going to happen in four days including a weekend? I replied the same day saying we had not chosen the plumbing or tile yet, and with my husband out of town, we would not be ready to start July 20. I emailed again July 24 saying Peter and I had both been sick but were planning to visit the tile places on July 25, Saturday. The plumbing company was going be trickier as they didn't have evening or weekend hours so I would have to take time off from work. On July 24 he responded that "I can't set up anything unless you have all in your house (plumbing, tiles) right now all August is full, may have a day or two open in between but not much....there will be plenty of time to finish the bathroom project". So first he said I had to pay a non-refundable $300 deposit to set a date then couldn't provide a date. Now he's saying we have to have all the materials on-site before he'll set a date. And this was after he couldn't do anything until September but then suddenly said he could start in four days. I emailed Hadrian early July 25 that we were going to the tile places that day and I asked him to confirm that, per what he told my husband, that we should make our selection but that he would order/procure the tile and that we would pay him., same with the plumbing supplier. We went to the tile place and ordered samples that would be in in a few days. That following Monday we went to the plumbing supplier and chose our fixtures. They emailed a "specbook" to us and Hadrian. No pricing as they just give that to the contractor so I did not know the cost of anything I had chosen. The same day Hadrian wrote back "Yes". On July 30 I sent him an email about who we saw, what we liked, included an image of the tile we liked best though hadn't made a final selection. I updated him on the plumbing choices and who I was working with there, noting we had changed from a brushed nickel finish to chrome given the tile we were looking at. I said we're almost there... I reiterated my understanding that we're working with the vendors he suggested and that we'll make the final selections and he'll order it , pay for it and pick it up, then we'll reimburse him. And I said "We're looking forward to receiving a start date for the project". Since we weren't going to start until September we still had time to get the tile and plumbing ordered. He wrote back July 31 thanking me for all the details noting plumbing can sometimes take three weeks to arrive so when all the items are in the store, then we can schedule the work. Then he said when the final decisions are made and the prices he will need a check for 100% of the cost of the tile and plumbing before he will go and pick them up. Also he wanted 50% deposit check for labor before the work starts. That's when I realized we did not have a signed contract that actually stated all these things... date scheduling, date deposits, purchasing materials, labor deposits, etc. He had never offered us a contract to sign. After we had said yes to the project that should have been the very next step. He didn't offer and I didn't ask for a contract (duh). If we had one I would have expected all these details to have been clearly stated - who does what and when. By this time I had grown so frustrated just ironing out this part of the project I had second thoughts about proceeding with this contractor at all. I talked about it to my husband (having worked in construction and is a believer in second chances) and a friend who has worked with several contractors and they both said to end it. I thought about it a couple more days and agreed. I contacted my #2 contractor who was happy to take the project and we had a date set in about 48 hours, and they're not asking me a non-refundable date deposit! I emailed Hadrian August 10 saying we were making a change and would no longer need his services. I did not hear back.
Description of Work: This provider did not provide any services. We ended the relationship before the project actually began.

Hadrian Pop is an artist who knows all the intricacies of tiling. We knew when we met him for the estimate that he knew his business. He looked at bathroom and verbally noted various aspects we hadn't thought about and how to approach them. It was evident that he was able to draw from a deep knowledge of tiling and the peripheral structural aspects in order to provide us what we needed. In execution, this was borne out: of course we ran into unforeseen things, and he was able to describe them and suggest solutions. He has an eye, as well, for form and color, and helped us install tiles that look beautiful. The finished product is loverly and shows great care and art. If we were to critique anything, it would be a failure on OUR part to ensure smooth communication. Sometimes we weren't clear about what we wanted. It would help Mr. Pop if clients could make sure they detailed everything they needed. For instance, we forgot to mention shelves in the surround, but he was able to install recessed, tiled shelves on the spur of the moment. Overall, we are very, very satisfied with Mr. Pop's work, and thank him for his professionalism, his friendliness, his hard work and his art.

I had an issue with my downstairs shower. It was broken with no possible way to fix it but rip it out. Either I could replace it with a similar, fiberglass shower, OR have a custom shower pan done, and expand it, and do some tile work. The first one was a quick solution but the second option was prettier, tripled the shower, and would add more value and usable space to the bathroom. Hadrian of Blue Tile came highly recommended. I called and he said he could actually meet me that day. He was right on time, thoroughly inspected the space, and told me options and what he could do. He went home and by the next morning I had a quote. 2 weeks later (because I needed to wait a few paychecks) we met at Home Depot to pick out materials. I got to be involved in the color choices, and he explained the function on the supplies we were getting. I dint' have to buy grout for in between the tiles, along with a few other materials because he had some left over from other projects. Hadrian started a week before I would actually have the money so I could get the shower done as quickly as possible for my renter. I didn't even ask him to do this. He just offered! I signed a contract and then on a hand shake he started the project promptly at 8am the following day. My shower is quiet nice. It exceeded my expectation and I am very pleased. Hadrian is professional, on time, honest, and a hard worker. He made me want to redo my upstairs bathroom. *sigh* maybe next year... But I will see him when I am ready to start that project.

I contacted Blue Tile & Marble for a quote on replacing a fiberglass shower enclosure with a tile shower enclosure. Mr. Hadrian Pop returned my call promptly and came to my house within 2 days to gather the information he needed to provide the estimate. I received the estimate via email later that same evening. I found Hadrian very friendly, easy to talk to and very knowledgable regarding the type of project I wanted to have done. The price quoted on the estimate was also as low or lower than any of the 6 other estimates I received from alternate contractors. I chose Blue Tile and Marble because of the responsiveness that was shown when receiving the estimate, the reasonable cost for the project and the impression that Hadrian gave me that he had the needed experience to do the work correctly, as well has Mr. Pop's outgoing, friendly personality. The project took a total of 8 days to complete. The work started on the day I wanted; the work was carried out with minimal disruption to our household; The worksite was cleaned each day; The work proceeded according to the plan that I received when the estimate was presented; The project was completed on time. What more could you ask for??? The job that Hadrian did was beautiful. All in all, I highly recommend Blue Tile and Marble. I should point out that the actual cost for the project was $2700 for Blue Tile & Marble, plus $1600 for tile and the shower door, bringing the total cost to $4300, before taxes.
