LeafFilter Gutter Protection

LeafFilter Company has failed to provide the Lifetime Warranty as advertised. I have contacted management on several occasions to correct a clogged gutter which was not installed correctly with no results. The last correspondence stated to follow the Class Action suit against LeafFilter.

The saleswomen was very knowledgeable of the product. The installer (Leafhome contractor) was outstanding. They repaired exiting gutter and downspout and efficiently installed the filters quickly.

I am content and happy with the job they did!!

I called them. They came out the next day and installed them the same day. I am very pleased with the whole thing.

I signed a contract for the work (cleaning, filter install) and got an install date. 2 days prior to the intall, I received a message that the company wanted to reschedule. The scheduler never returned any of my 8 calls or called me back and workers never showed. When I escalated the issue to the higher ups they told me the job should have never been sold and canceled because they didn't have the crew or incentive to a small job. It was all a waste of time and energy.

The installation is fine but did not address the problem properly there were no probelms while installing, it occurs after the work has done and cause from the weather

I requested a quote from Leaf Filter for my home from their website. Got a phone call from them and we setup an appointment. The Leaf Filter representative showed up on time did some measurements and then I sat down with him to go over the quote. I had explained to him that I had done research on their products, looked over reviews on Angie’s List, Consumer Reports and didn’t need anything other than a quote for time and materials e-mailed to me. Ignoring this, he launched into his sales pitch, which was ok, and he covered what I already knew. I finally stopped him an insisted that all I needed was an estimate broken out by labor and materials. Instead, he pulled out a glossy information sheet with the words “Total Investment” titled on the bottom half of the sheet. After writing down a price to $9,888.00, he started applying discounts and incentives, including one for $1,081.00 that expired at 8:00pm that evening. After all the discounts were applied, the total was $6,483.00. When I indicated I wasn’t going to buy anything that day, he started arguing with me about how I could ignore a $1,081.00 discount.. I then informed him that I need to check with the city about permits, which was met again with an argument about this $1,081.00 discount. I informed him that he would need to supply me with the Leaf Filter’s installation contractor’s name, business license, Washington State Contractor’s license and proof of Workman’s Compensation Insurance Policy. Again, the $1,081.00 discount argument was presented as he walked away from our meeting. I think the Leaf Filter is a good product, but given how it is marketed and sold, it just felt sleazy and unethical. As such, I cannot recommend them. If their products are sold separately and I am allowed to choose my own licensed and bonded contractor, I would be willing to purchase Leaf Filter’s products.

Terrible the gutters were installed incorrectly. Causing massive leaks and water damage to my home. 3 technicians from the company told me these were installed incorrectly and would continue to leak if the gutters weren't lowered. They came out to finally fix-it 3+mos. later and the techs said their proposed fix wouldn't guarantee success. I told them if that was the case to please remove the gutter guards and refund my money. This was weeks ago hey are now ducking and dodging my calls. I reached out to them today(6/30/20) one last time and the Mgr. ducked my call again. We are left with no other choice than to sue them as they have rendered our previously perfect working gutters inoperable. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!

When the salesman came and explained the estimated cost and warranty information, we thought it would have been perfect, and were excited about having great gutters. Unfortunately, it started going downhill when he gave us the first price, and then almost before leaving, figured out that he had left one entire side of the house and the carport off of the cost! Although the price went up a few thousand more, we decided to go with this company since they promised that our gutters were still good and would be fixed good as new. As the installation date neared, we had another issue. We were told that installation was going to happen on a Monday, so my husband took the day off around appointments to be there to show where the gutters leaked and supervise the work. On the Thursday before, I got a phone call at work saying that a contractor was at my house to install a new gutter on the shed. I had no idea this was going to happen on a different day, but I was able to leave work early to come home and let him in the backyard. The next day (Friday), I received another call that a gutter guy was there to install the gutter shields and fix the house gutters. Once again, I was able to leave work to let him in the yard and show him where the issues were, but I was more than a little annoyed at the lack of communication from this company. I was also surprised that one guy came in a personal pickup truck by himself to do the entire two-story house. After I talked to him, he assured me that he would glue the gutters and hang them better so that all of the water would go where it was supposed to. I went back to work, and a few hours later, the whole house was done. He had said that the gutters were hung fine and didn’t need to be moved much, but this is not what the two previous gutter companies had said. He also told me that if the glue does not adhere, someone would come back to do it again. Needless to say, a few days later, a big rainstorm hit, and water was streaming out the joints and between the fascia boards and gutters in at least three places!!! I called the salesman, and he never returned my calls. I ended up calling the national number, and they said that they could get another person out the soonest in 2.5 weeks. In the rainiest time of the year, this has been a nightmare!!! When the day finally arrived, I waited for the call to say that someone was at the house, and it never came. When I got home from work, there was a quiet, hard-to-understand message on my home voicemail saying something about someone coming by to fix the gutters, but then leaving. When I called the number back, the guy said that his boss would call me (?) to reschedule. When that didn’t happen by the next day, I called the national number again and rescheduled, telling them to call my cell number ahead of time, so that I can be home. It will be over one month that we are waiting for the gutters to be fixed, and this is ridiculous. The lack of correct communication and shotty workmanship has really got me to doubt this company’s product and promise.

Gutter covers installed but left numerous messages to fix leaks. Did not return my phone calls. Still waiting for repairs.

I made it exceptionally clear that all I wanted was my gutter's cleaned when I made the appointment. A VERY HIGH pressure sales man was sent out and tried very hard to get us to buy new gutters. The more we said NO, the more he pushed to make a sale. He would not leave. I didn't not sign a contract nor would I recommend this company. I don't know the quality of their work but it was obvious that he only wanted to sell us new gutters.

Overall things went well. The one drawback on my home is that the screws came thru the facia and showed in the covered porch area of the home. So that was unsitely. Long screws were good for the rest of the house. But if you have a porch where this would happen, discuss shorter screws with them in the area that would show.

I found them at the Maple Valley Days and they had a booth there. You know you don't know how people do business, but anyway he did give us a substantial discount because they wanted the business. He said don't tell other people what you paid for this.

Very well. I smile every time I see leaves on the ground because I know they are not in my gutters.

The system was over sold - it does keep the pine needles from getting into the gutters - but the pine needles stay on the screen and plug them up so I have to get on the roof after each heavy rain storm and clean the gutter screens. We were told this wouldn't happen and I wouldn't have to ever clean the gutters again. They left out that I would still have to clean the screens. Also, we were told the installers would clean the pine needles off the roof before installing the system. It was raining when the installer came. We told him it was ok to wait on the installation until a dry day, but he wanted to do it anyway in the rain. This made it so he couldn't clean the roof and the screens became clogged by the needles from the roof. We were told by the sales people that if we had any problems we could call and someone would come out within a few days. I reported the clogged gutters, but no one bothered to come out.

Took longer for the installation than we thought it would as there was only one man on the job. However, this wasn't a real problem and we felt his work was very thorough and he seemed to be very knowledgeable about the product and how to install it. Very good job cleaning up after completion. Since there hasn't been a lot of rain, we're not quite sure yet how the gutter screens will perform over the winter months. So far, so good, though. The price was more than we expected, but then we had several bends and corners in our gutters which brings the cost up. We realize the screens won't eliminate gutter maintenance entirely as we may still have to sweep or blow off the screens periodically, but at least it won't be shoveling out debris from inside the gutters. Hoping we're still satisfied with our decision after a year.

The intial sales presentation went o.k but most of the stuff he said turns out to be false. On the day of the installation one of the installers informed me that my DECRA roofing was fastened through the old gutters and needed to be unfastened. I gave the o.k. for that. They failed to inform me that they wouldn't be able to refasten the shingles they loosened for the install. After speaking to the VERY rude and obnoxious installation manager several times and getting nowhere, he came to my house. At that point he not only was rude to me but to the roofer I had here to inform him his company messed up. Still they refuse to fix what they damaged. Eventually, they gave me a supposedly generous $200 dollar discount on the install. It will cost at least $800 to have someone fix it if I can find someone who specializes in this kind of roofing and will even touch it. So far I've had two roofing companies tell me that they won't touch it! BOTTOM LINE, DO NOT use LEAF FILTER! You are warned! Still won't fix or get someone to fix my roof but did threaten to put a lien on my house when I told them I wouldn't pay until it was done correctly. I paid and they processed that within a day, but just can't fix my roof that they loosened. Had a installer come and look at my gutter for warranty work due to leaks at a junction point. Water pours over my fascia boards and not through the gutter! Once again they seemingly have blamed my roof for the issue as I haven't heard from them since the 20th of November. I have texted their installer twice! Pictures of the defect were taken by the installer and given to me acknowledging the issue, but yet nothing has been done about it! All of this after they unhooked the shingles and didn't put them back! If you do business with this company, you might as well burn your money! Find someone else! David

A representative from LeafFilter North of Washington Inc. came to our house to provide an estimate. After measuring and telling us our gutters needed to be replaced he calculated the cost of installing LeafFilter's product. He said he would throw in replacing the gutters for free IF we did an immediate order. The price was over $18,000, for 200 linear feet of gutters. When we said that was too high, he said he could take off $250 for the Seattle Home Show coupon. Still too high we said. He said if we would put a yard sign out for 30 days (we live on a dead end) and write an honest review in 12 months, he could do it for $15,000. Still too high, we said. He called his boss. 'What's our zip code?' We told him. After conferring with his boss on the phone, he said we were in luck: a Val-Pac would be coming out in our zip code, so they we take a portion of what they would spend on that and put it to our project. That would bring the price down to $12,000. Still too high we said. He called his boss back a second time. After conferring and asking us what color we would want, he told us as luck would have it, a 'commercial' project in Seattle could be bundled with ours to bring the price down to $8,500! Still too high we said. He called his boss back a third time. 'We'd hate to lose your business', so if we signed immediately, put a yard sign out for 30 days, wrote an honest review in 12 months, they would use a portion of the Val-Pac cost, bundle it with the Seattle commercial project AND just for us, give is an additional discount bring the price down to $5,800. At this point, he had wasted well over an hour of our time with old, deplorable used car salesman techniques that we wouldn't have bought from them if we were PAID to install their product. For each of these, we had to sign on the spot. No mulling it over. After he left the price would go back up to $18,000. Baloney. DON'T fall for that! If you are presented with an initial estimate over $30/linear foot for new gutters and the LeafFilter solution, tell them no deal, cut out the crap and give you their lowest bid without calling their 'boss'. Also, take a close look at the Consumer Reports article they will show you. Read it over yourself. LeafFilter ISN'T the best buy in the article, in 2010 it was $20/linear foot and there are better rated products out there that can be installed by any contractor or yourself for $9/linear foot.

It was fine. They did a good job and they were clean. We were happy with their work. They estimated the job and then a couple of days later, the technician came out and installed a leaf filter on a portion of our gutters that we wanted it installed on. They left the house clean and we had no issues with them. Their price was expensive but they did a nice job and it was what we needed for our home so we were happy. We have not had any issues since the service was provided.

I thought they did an average job. I thought they would align the gutters. The price was high. They were reasonably good because I do have one problem with them. They don’t seem to handle the valley, the gutters are in the valley and it clogged up. It was a minor annoying. They were fairly responsive.

I have never used them before and the service that they provided was satisfactory overall. It was good. I just had an issue with the front gutter that they installed that was not a LeafFilter product and I had to call them back. The reason why I had to call them back out for that front gutter was because it was allowing rain to flow behind the gutter because there was a space between the top of the gutter and the bottom shingles of the roof. The water was dripping off the shingles and going back behind the gutter. There was a space there all along the gutter and there was water going down and a lot of it was not going into the gutter, it was going behind the gutter. That was my complaint and they were pretty good about it. They came back out, looked at it and said, "Well, the reason that that is doing that is because your shingles are not overlapping the roof enough. There should be at least a three-quarter inch overlap for that not to happen." Well, they did not tell me that before they started the job and they were after all gutter installers. They came out and looked at it and it was raining when they were out there so they could see what was happening but they put the blame on the roofer. Here is what they suggested and what I ended up doing. I called the company that installed that roof and I told them what happened and they said, "Because you are a good customer, we will come out there and install a strip of aluminum or sheet metal under those shingles so that it extends out and it will force the water to drip into the gutter." And they did that free of charge. So in my case, it worked out great but I just cannot help but feel that they should have told me that, "Hey, with this new gutter that we have here, it is not the same as the old and the way that we are going to have to install it, this is what might happen." And then, I would have had a chance to say, "Okay, just do not install it," or whatever. They could have at least warned me but they did not say anything even though there was that visible gap in there. I think that an experienced installer could have easily seen what was going to happen. I also had a little problem getting a hold of the people to come back out because I did not know who to call and I think that they came from Tacoma. So, I think that maybe if the representative that came out initially had left me his card and telephone number, it might have been easier for me to contact someone. The way it happened was that when I called the company they said, "Where do you live and where was it installed? Yeah. Well, we can get a hold of so and so and call them and have them call you," and that kind of thing. There was a little run around there for a while, whereas, I felt that if I was able to contact the marketing guy that came out initially, I would not have wasted as much time. So, my recommendation to them is that they should make sure that the marketing guy leaves his card and phone number to their customers.

We like the guy and the product. We read some of the reviews and they weren't quite as good and it was gonna be quite a bit of money. We may go back to them but we're also trying to be able to shop. Some of the reviews and stuff didn't quite add up for us exactly but for the product, it looked probably like it was the better one. The guy was really nice, he came out and he's professional.

They were great. We had an issue with the 1:19-1:20 and they came right out. They were really good with follow-up.
