About us

I am a one person business specializing in helping people enjoy what they see when they drive up their driveway, stroll around their yard, or look out the window. I will do a consultation leaving you with plant ideas, plant lists and lots of things to think about. I charge $25.00 an hour for all my services such as design, plant selection and pickup, and installation. I bill either by the visit or on a monthly basis if the job requires more time. My initial visit to meet you, see the work, and discuss some basic ideas you may have costs nothing.

Services we offer

I can make plans for a renovation of an existing bed or a new one. I will select, pick up the plants, and intall or just advise. I can help you put together a compost pile, integrate vegetables into your garden beds, make pots for summer and winter. I can renovate and prune shrubs that have become overgrown. I can show you how to arrange a lovely bouquet from your own yard as well as "dress" summer pots for the winter season.

Services we don't offer

I am not interested in routine weeding maintenance but will help get things under control so you can take over.

Deborah did a wonderful job and managed to turn my brown thumb at least a little green. She was reasonably priced, terrific to work with, and a natural teacher. I hope this year we'll work together again to continue the progress on our landscaping. To give you an idea of the scale of our project, she took over 3000 pounds of vegetation to the compost facility from our massively overgrown yard!
Description of Work: Helped me tame the overgrown landscaping surrounding our newly purchased house. She not only did a great job at a reasonable price, she taught me how to maintain the landscaping and gave me "homework" projects to help me learn. In addition, she helped us select and purchase plants to replace older, too-large plants that were hiding the house.

The home we moved into included extensive flower beds (over 1/4 of the entire property). Neither of us are gardeners, and although I tried to keep up, the weeds and volunteers got away from me. We called in Deborah to help get things under control. She worked hard (and through the hottest days of summer) to get the beds cleaned up the shrubs trimmed back, and mulch spread. She even called in help to get the tree in the back yard trimmed. She returned several times through the summer and into fall, to keep up with things as the season changed. She's left us with a landscape that's manageable, even by reluctant gardeners like us. I was surprised to discover that I really enjoy the yard now! Deborah is passionate and very hard working. I'd call her again (and probably will). As with other reviewers, she helped us reclaimed our yard.

Deborah did a fabulous job reclaiming the yard at a house that we were planning to sell. The house had been a rental for ten years and needed an extensive overhaul to boost "curb appeal". When she arrived the first day, I remember thinking that I didn't even know where to tell her to begin because the job was so overwhelming. She didn't need any instructions, however, and after just a few hours, I was amazed at the transformation. She is an artist who really loves her work. Her work included pruning plants, shrubs and trees, cleaning flower beds, and planting new plants. She was very attentive to the fact that we were selling this house, and had a lot of suggestions on what should and shouldn't be done. I gave her an initial budget of $1500 for her work and materials, and she came in way under that amount. She was well prepared with tools and truck, and cleaned up thoroughly. She is a friendly, interesting person. I recommend her highly. (And the house sold in a week).
Description of Work: Deborah reclaimed the yard at a house that we wanted to put on the market.

Deborah Margulies was hired when I moved to the Pacific Northwest and found I knew nothing about my beautiful Northwest garden. She helped me preserve the investment surrounding my home, shared her rest knowledge generously and taught while doing. She is a multi-talented business professional whom I have recommended freely. I will always be grateful to the interior designer who introduced us.
Description of Work: Deborah's Plantscapes performed garden education, garden planning and garden services which included weeding, moving plants, planting and selection.

It was a pleasant experience for me as Deborah was able to grasp easily what I wanted and make it happen. Deborah selected plants that would do well in my garden environment and her knowledge of what is available in the local nurseries was helpful in keeping expectations in line with reality. My husband and I are planning to move to a new property and will be having Deborah help us with our garden when that happens.
Description of Work: In July of 2011 Deborah came to my property, we discussed my ideas and how to achieve what I wanted to see in my garden. She selected appropriate plants, picked them up, and installed them according to the design that we worked out.. She updated existing beds and also planned a new bed. There were follow up phone calls, emails, and a visit recently to ensure things were working out as planned.

From the beginning of my project Deborah was pleasant to work with, kept a good line of communication open, and always left the area worked on tidy at the end of the day. She has a very good idea of the local nurseries inventory which kept the time used for plant selection at a minimum. Deborah also offered me the option of picking up and planting things myself with her just doing the design work but I chose to have her do that. My experience was excellent and I would highly recommend her services.
Description of Work: Deborah came and advised me on changing my beds significantly, she chose which plants to put in as well as where they would go. She went to the nurseries, selected and picked up the plants. She also was able to prune back shrubs that had grown too large and moved some around to more advantageous spots. Deborah was conscientious in keeping the costs to the amount we had agreed upon and always consulted me regarding extras as they came up. Deborah has a wealth of knowledge about the plants, colors to put together, as well as choosing a combination of plants to provide all year interest. She was able to put some lovely fall pots together for me as well as "dressing" some pots with winter foliage for the Christmas season.
