We are extremely proud of our reputation. We stand behind every job we do.
I discovered a problem with the vents installed in January 2011, 4 vents over my garage and the stove vent. I had a handyman doing some remodeling for me and he said he could install all the vents so I contracted with him to do the job. I cannot get up on the roof and I trusted that he knew what he was doing and would do the work properly. When I had Solatubes installed this year the installer said the vents were not installed correctly and I needed to get them repaired/replaced as soon as I could. He took my camera up on the roof and took pictures of all the vents for me and then I could see they were all incorrectly installed. The photos showed the handyman installed 4 plastic vents and then nailed through the TOP of the shingles and through the plastic vents cracking them to secure each one on the roof. Certain to cause water damage! The stove vent was also improperly installed and certain to leak.I contacted Stewart roofing and emailed the pictures to them and they confirmed the vents all needed to be replaced/redone. I got a fair quote from them and they completed the work for me yesterday. They also gave me advice on how to approach the handyman for a refund since the work he did was all wrong, I took their advice and the handyman sent me a refund for his work. Stewart roofing found shingles that matched my roof well, completed the work timely, and removed the debris. I really appreciated their concern for me as a homeowner and their willingness to advise me about the prior contractor who did such poor work. I will call them again and have already recommended them to friends.
Description of Work: 4 vents over my garage needed to be replaced as well as the stove vent in the roof fixed. They were all just installed last year.

Rick and his crew were courteous, prompt, fair, and considerate. He was patient and smart in dealing with a difficult neighbor. His crew was fast and expert, from tear-off to finish in two days, and that only because the rain came in late on the first day.
Description of Work: Rick installed a new roof on our house.
It was great working with Tim and Rick from Stewart Roofing, Inc. They were very professional; which led to an overall smooth process completing a large job. I had a leaky roof at one of my rental homes. I contacted Stewart Roofing and they were able to make it out to the house for a free estimate that same day. They contacted me with the problem and several solutions to the problem depending on how much I felt comfortable spending. I chose to have a new roof put on the rental home. It was the most expensive, but will last the longest. Tim and Rick were honest and I trusted in their knowledge and expertise regarding roof repair and/or replacement. They began the project the next non-rainy day. They kept me updated with the process all along the way as well as any changes that were made. At one point during the process, they found that I had severe water damage from the leaky roof and called me right away to discuss options related to this new problem. I was comfortable with this company due to the fact that they kept me involved in the project from beginning to end. I always knew what was going on each day. It ended up being a 4 day process for a new roof that needed extra attention due to the fact that there was rotted wood due to the leaky roof/gutters and new gutters along the perimeter of the house. In addition to this rental home, I also had another rental home that needed gutter cleaning. They found time to attend to this matter in the middle of the big project at the first rental. I was very appreciative that they found time to finish a new roof that had underlying problems in 4 days as well as a gutter cleaning at the second rental home. Overall, I enjoyed working with this company because they were honest regarding cost related to problems and solutions, punctual (always did what they said they were going to do and on time), and kept me involved in the process from beginning to end. I would recommend this company to anyone in need of a new roof, roof repair, and/or gutter cleaning.

Response from Stewart Roofing Inc
We cleaned the roof for the customer during a dry season and explained that moss kill should be applied once the rainy season started in the fall when the moss starts to actively grow. We explained that to apply moss kill when moss is dormant would not be an effective use of the material. He was fine with that. We came back a couple of months later when the rains started and applied the moss kill. We did not ask for any payment during the interim between cleaning and application of moss kill. At no time did he inform us of any problem with the cleaning or moss kill. After application of the moss kill we requested payment from him. The customer claimed he had already paid. We indicated we had not received any payment and he was adamant that he had paid. When we inquired how he had paid, he stated, I paid with my credit card. We explained to him that we don't take credit cards so it was not possible he paid with one. He then said I paid by check. We informed him we had not received any check from him. The customer complained about the price being too high after both trips were made to clean the roof and apply the moss kill. He was given the price to do the work prior to any work being done. It was after the fact he complained about the price but not about the service or quality of work. There was a tremendous amount of moss on the roof to be cleaned and hence the reason for the price. It was one of the worst accumulations of moss we had seen. We finally get got paid by the customer however at no time was there every any complaint about the quality of the work performed or timeliness. We fully explained about the time between cleaning and application of the moss kill due to the dry versus rainy season. The mostly negative grades listed by him do not appear to ring true compared to the vast majority of reports we have received by Angie's List members. We encourage Angie's List members to read all of our reports and determine for themselves the validity of the grades received. Thank you for your time to receive our side of this incident.

Tim from the main office kept in close touch with me before, during, and after the project to let me know where things stood regarding details ranging from our choice of shingle and gutter to start date to completion. A two-man crew started on a Friday and did an excellent job of working around typical Northwest weather. All work, including the new gutters, was finished by the following Wednesday. They were polite, professional, and quick. They cleaned up at the end of each day, told me their plans for the next work day, and did what they said they'd do. Based on my experience to date, I would definitely use Stewart Roofing again.
Description of Work: We purchased a 45 year old house that needed a new roof. Rick was one of five roofers to give me estimates and, while his price was not the lowest, the items he recommended and the reasons he provided gave me a great deal of confidence is his knowledge of the industry. As a result, we chose Stewart Roofing to remove two layers of existing roofing, put down new underlayment, and replace the gutters.

Very satisfied with job. Clean up good. Roof job looks great. Only dissapointment, when Rick came to the property to quote the job I asked what access they would need to complete the job. I was told none needed, they would be able to do everything from the outside. We just bought the house and it is currently empty and we do not have relationships with the neighbors. The day before they were to start on the roof we received a phone call indicating they needed access to the house to use our electricity to run their air compressors. I was never told that they would need to use our electricity to complete the job. We had no control on what they were doing inside the house in our absence.

Called Stewart on Thursday and Rick came out Friday morning to do an estimate. He called around an hour later with a verbal quote and we agreed to move forward. They had a cancellation so they were able to complete the repair the same day. (which was great for us because we were on vacation that week.). The gentleman who did the repairs explained why the soft spot formed and explained the work he was doing. They finished in a few hours and our roof looks great! Will definitely contact this company when we replace our roof in a few years.

As stated in my comments in the previous box, there were several unexpected problems including rain, rain, rain, and also issues with the roof. I was kept informed at all stages with the latest information. I appreciated the excellent communication and the pleasant, professional manner of all involved.
Description of Work: Stewart Roofing removed two layers of our old roofing and applied a new composition, architectural design roof. I selected Stewart roofing after getting three estimates. All of the estimates were close in dollar amount so I selected Stewart Roofing based upon the information Rick Stewart gave me at the time he did the estimate. He found some issues that he shared with me and took the time to answer all my questions. Through the entire process all the workers I dealt with were very informative. They were forthcoming with information they thought I should have and in addition were very thorough in answering my questions and also seemed very willing to answer the questions. The weather was horrible at the time the old roof was to be removed and the new one installed. RAIN was the order of the day most days. As a result the job was delayed a few times as the workers were finishing up other projects and kept being interrupted by rainy days. The day they were able to start there was a small window of clear weather that they were able to take advantage of. They removed the west half the the roof and installed a new roof. It was amazing to me that they were able to do that and to then leave it for a few days while it rained and rained. There was no leaking and as soon as the weather cleared they were back again to do the east side of the roof. Aaron and Chris were the primary roof removers and installers. They were professional, pleasant, courteous, and helpful. Aaron was the person who gave me information as to what was happening and the person to answer all my questions. There were several issues with this job -- some were expected and known ahead of time but some were surprises. The big surprise was that the first layer of roofing was not composition but tar and gravel -- an unusual roof for a pitched roof and also an unusual roof to just put a new composition roof over the top which had been done. Consequently, the old roof was more difficult to remove than originally thought. There were problems with rotting facia boards and a corner of the roof was sagging. All of these things were repaired to my satisfaction. There was a small problem with sagging soffit boards in one spot after the work was done. However, I called to report this and workers came to the house to make the repairs that very day. All-in-all I was very pleased with Stewart Roofing. It was a difficult time to be a roofer and they all handled it very professionally.

I contacted Stewart Roofing for an estimate on roof replacement as part of a home sale. They were the most professional of the 5 companies I contacted. They responded promptly and professionally. Their estimate was thorough and complete, providing a complete explanation of all work that needed to be performed and why. Tim took the time to explain the different options for the materials and varying costs. I felt that Stewart was the most trustworthy of all the companies I contacted. I would have used them if we were going to keep our home. The only reason we did not use them is that we were replacing the roof as a condition of a home sale. Ultimately, in lieu of replacement, we simply gave the buyers a monetary credit to cover costs of roof replacement.

Called a few roofing companies for an estimate and was told I lived to far away for them to come by and give a bid. When I talked to Tim at Stewart Roofing they said they could come out that afternoon for an estimate. I thought the bid price was reasonable and asked when they could come out do the actual work and was told the next morning, which was great as rain was in the forecast. They showed up the next morning and finished the repair in about 1 hour, everything seems to be fixed as it has been raining a lot since and no sign of leak after the repair.

Rick came out to my house on time for the initial estimate. A week later his crew was out to my house to do the install. They were very professional and left the area clean and tidy. I replaced half my roof and it took a full day. They brought up a lot of issues with the previous roof installation and clearly are experts in the field. They did an excellent job and the roof no longer leaks. They also repaired some other area of my roof for free too! The final invoice exactly matched the estimated price for the job. I can't recommend them enough and will be hiring them to do the other half of the roof when funds allow.

We didn't end up using them because we were selling our house and the buyers preferred to get the cash for the estimate. We were happy with the estimate. They were really good at giving estimates. They told us things that we didn't really want to know because we were not staying in the house. We would have wanted to know those things if we had been staying. They emailed with their estimate. They were very timely and they followed up to see if we needed to have the work done. If we were still in the area, we would consider using them in the future.

The work was expeditiously performed and the workers were professional. They left no residual materials and removed our old roofing. Although the site of the leak was not located, the work was adequate to repair the leak. I was given an original estimate of $450, and the day after the work was performed the owner called me stating the work performed was less than the estimate. I was extremely surprised to receive this call and saved $150 for exceptional work. I was extremely with this entire process and definitely would use this company again in the future.
Description of Work: After heavy rains in later November, we noted a small roof leak in our garage. This was an extremely busy time as many homes were affected. The person who received my call was very professional and polite. We promptly received an estimate (24 hours after I called). The representative did not see the site of the leak and stated they would have to remove a portion of the roofing to repair the problem.

I work with many vendors, both professionally and privately, and my experience with Stewart Roofing is one of the best. We had a leak in a small mud room that also acts as a furnace room. There was no evidence of damage or missing roofing tiles, so I expected there was a problem with a seam or moss somewhere. I called Stewart Roofing for professional help. The young man who answered the phone was polite and professional. He took down my contact information and the details of my problem. He spent a few minutes with me asking good questions that made me think of the problem in more detail and provide additional information during the initial phone call. He had no problem with making sure that I was called 45-60 minutes before the visit so that I could make sure someone was available to open the mud room for inspection. Stewart Roofing followed up with me by phone and email (my preferred contact method) regarding the day and time they could come out to inspect the roof. This allowed me to schedule other activities on the same day and minimize the impact on my office schedule. Rick Stewart called me 45 minutes prior to arrival to let me know he was coming. When he arrived he inspected the area damaged by the leak in the roof, then inspected the house roof where it joined the house addition?s roof and the porch?s roof. Rick then explained how the slope of the original house roof and the addition's roof joined together and created two valleys. The layout of the drainage and the angle of the valleys made it possible for water to rise out of the "culvert" and under the shingles into the affected area. We discussed a few other issues with the layout of the roof and possible countermeasures. Rick was patient, listened to my concerns, asked pertinent questions, and provided me several options: short, mid and long-term along with the pros and cons of those options. At my request, to fix the current problem in the short-term, Rick applied a roofing caulk to the roof where the angle of the valleys allowed the water to slide under the shingles. This has fixed the short-term problem of a leaking roof. We are currently working on a long-term option to correct some poor roofing practices undertaken by the previous owner. I appreciate the time and courtesy Rick and his crew gave me: polite, professional, and as honest as a handshake.

Stewart Roofing submitted the lowest bid. They called to check on my decision. After I selected t hem they were very responsive to my questions and answered them to my satisfaction. Their people were hardworking and unobtrusive while they were removing the old roof and putting the new one on. The workers answered all of the questions that I asked of them. The workers left my property in the same condition that they found it. I waited a few weeks before the special order skylight was installed. I would assess my experience with Stewart Roofing as exceeding expectations.

Overall, all went very smoothly. Our roof had been replaced around 5 yrs. ago and they had made some mistakes in the skylight area as far as flashing, etc. Rick fixed all of that and added a diverter above the skylight to shunt a lot of the rainwater away for the skylight area. He used some of the spare roofing tile that we fortunately had saved from the previous roof replacement.
Description of Work: We had a leak around one of our skylights and called Rick Stewart for help. He responded right away and came to check the problem. He told us the skylight needed to be replaced and other work needed to be done in the area of the skylight. He gave us an estimate as soon as he determined the cost of the new skylight. When we told him that we are worried that the weather forecast showed more rain over the weekend, he said he will try to fix it. He came on Saturday which is not a regular workday for him and did the repairs while we were out. He left a message about details of the work done. The following day, it rained and No Leak! We were so relieved and thankful that he came quickly to fix the problem.

Offered an excellent alternate solution to the other bids received. A slow start because the of the extreme weather conditions. Completed in one day all seem OK.
I received estimates from 4 roofing companies, 3 from Angies list. I was trying to make a decision between the 2 lowest bids and Angies list reviews helped me to narrow the decision down to Stewart. Also, Stewart lowered their bid to match the lowest bid I had from their competitor. I am glad I chose Stewart. Tim was good at keeping me informed when my job was due. The roofing crew were professional and efficient. The roof looks good, but only time will tell how well it will perform. Since we haven't had rain, the roof hasn't been tested yet. My only wish would be that Stewart accept charge cards so I could rack up airline miles. If Stewart had not met the bid from the competitor, I might have chosen the competitor because they accept credit cards.
Description of Work: I have a single family home, 1400 square foot rambler which was in need of a new roof and the old roof removed. The house has little pitch and was a pretty uncomplicated job. Stewart took off the old roof and removed the debris from the property. They replaced one piece of plywood and put on a 30 year architectural roof.

There were a couple problems of permitting and extending the job time a few days, but overall, they did a great job. Company thought we were in unincorporated King Co., but we are in Kent. Kent official came by and stopped the job until a permit was obtained. Original estimate of material was short, so more composition roofing had to be obtained. The workers and Richard Stewart were really great to work with, as was Tim, their office contact. He was especially responsive to our requests for addresses to drive by to see colors available.

We just bought our 20 year old house, which still had it's original roof. We called asking for some servicing and a quote for a new roof. The owner came out the next day, quoting $300 for the repairs and $7500 for a new 30 year composite shingle roof. He took an extra day to call back to arrange a time to do the repairs (my husband had to leave a message asking for them to call back). When he arrived, he came during the 2 hour window and completed the work in less than a hour. He even cleaned out skylight "since he was up there". Overall, very straightforward and exactly what we wanted. We will definitely consider Stewart Roofing when we look to re-do the roof in 2 years.
Description of Work: A coule of minor repairs (securing loose shingles, etc.) to our 20 year roof to get a few more years out of it.
