On August 22, 2020, a representative came to our home, did extensive measurements, and told us he would submit a bid the next day. I have since called twice and left a note at Angie's List asking for the bid and as of August 28th have still not received a written bid. It's frustrating because this company had good reviews and we anticipated good service.

BUYER BEWARE to fellow Angieslisters. If you are seeking a contractor/landscape/concrete services, be extra careful. This company targeted my parents while I was away for a few days. Promising great work and to beat other offers (first red flag), the company wrote up a proposal that was agreed to and signed. Work would entail proper excavation and installation of a new outdoor patio area consisting of slate and pavers. A 50% deposit was given to the company owner, Manuoso Uhi, with work commencing the next day. 4,000 pounds of slate, differing vastly from an original sample presented earlier, was delivered. Explaining the slate was not the same color or thickness as the earlier sample, the company owner insisted it was the only slate available and no other choice existed. (We later found that untrue when visiting the dealer in person.) The next day, Ms. Uhi asked for more money to purchase paver stones. Something she said was "necessary in order to continue work". A check for $1,100 was written and was cashed immediately. The next morning, Ms. Uhi arrived and began re-measuring the already worked areas. After leaving momentarily, two workers entered the yard and began to tear out the French drain that had been installed earlier this Spring. Ms. Uhi then returned with a newly drafted contract telling them to sign, or they would walk. Oddly, the new contract showed a $2,799.00 increase from the original bid. They refused to sign, stating if she was quitting, they wanted their money back and property restored. She was also told to return the monies given the previous day, as she evidently hadn't used it to purchase paver stones. She refused, telling her workers to gather their tools and walk off the job. A police report was filed. As has a lawsuit. Labor and Industries recently suspended their license, yet they continue to advertise they are licensed. They frequently place ads online. Please visit the Labor and Industries website before hiring a contractor. You can look them up by business name, owner name, UBI number and/or license number. Businesses like Pro Build typically operate for a short duration before being sued and losing their bond/license suspension. In this case, the owner is well versed in operating "under the radar" by continually changing dba names or utilizing various family member names to be shown as a primary owner. Previously known as Northwest Construction, look them up at Labor and Industries and see the number of judgments brought against them.

BUYER BEWARE to fellow Angieslisters. Because this company recently targeted my folks, I feel strongly about warning anyone seeking contractor/landscape/concrete services to avoid this company. As if bait and switch tactics, deception, and theft wasn't bad enough- this company had the gall of targeting senior citizens. Sorry, but that's just a little personal. Pro Build Construction Company also goes by Northwest Construction. Despite both names being listed under the same address, only Pro Build carries active/valid registration with Labor and Industries. My parent s experience is as follows: With promises of great work and an anxiousness to beat any offer, the company provided a bid which was agreed to and signed by both parties. Work was to entail proper excavation, then installation of an outdoor walkway consisting of slate and pavers. A 50% deposit was given in the amount of $2,250.00 to Ms. Uhi- the company owner. Work began the next day. Slate material, differing vastly from an original sample presented days earlier, was delivered. Explaining to the owner the stone was NOT the same color or thickness as the earlier sample, she insisted this was the only slate the dealer carried, and no other choice existed (We later found this to be untrue when visiting the dealer and viewing the wide array of choices). The next day Ms. Uhi requested more money for the purchase of paver stones. Something she claimed was "necessary in order for them to continue work". A check in the amount of $1,100 was written and subsequently, cashed immediately. The next morning, Ms. Uhi arrived, tape measure in hand. She inexplicably began measuring. After returning to her vehicle, her workers entered the yard and proceeded to tear out a French drain system which had been professionally installed earlier this spring (value $1,267.67). Ms. Uhi then returned with a newly drafted contract telling them to sign, or they would cease work. The new contract displayed a $2,799.00 increase from the original bid. They refused to sign, stating if she was quitting the job, they would be demanding a complete refund and to restore the property as it was. They also demanded she return the check given to her the previous day, as it was evident she hadn't used it to purchase paver stones. Ms. Uhi retorted she didn t have the money. They then took their tools and walked off the job. A police report was filed and is under investigation. Game on. : )
