I purchased Fuller Electric's Big Deal as it seemed to describe my situation exactly. I have an old house that needs a panel upgrade to do planned expansion 2nd kitchen etc. Fuller was offering a and lsquo;swap out' of the old panel to a bigger 200A panel. After contacting the company I was told that unless I had an existing 200A panel in place that additional charges would apply. I was quoted a price more than triple the cost of the original deal, so basically full price and no deal at all. As this is not a high-priority job for me at this time I decided against paying the additional cost to get this work done at this time. Fuller Electric did offer to install a new panel the same as mine but my existing panel works well so this wouldn't have been any benefit to me.

Response from Fuller Electric
A lot of the customers who took advantage of this Big Deal had old panels or brands (i.e. Federal Pacific, Zinsco) that lost their safety rating from Underwriter Laboratories (UL). We were offering to do an even swap out of an old 200 Amp panel with a new one, along with updating the grounding system. It is unfortunate we didn't communicate the limitations of the Big Deal. Sometimes it can get technical and the challenge is to bridge the "electrician-ese" to our customer. When a customer has a less than 200 Amp panel, we have to replace the entire service in order to bring it up to a full 200 Amps. When homes were built prior to the advent of today's electronics and fancy kitchens, a smaller panel would suffice. However most modern homes are at 200 Amps. To upgrade involves replacing the wire and sometimes the conduit from the street or utility (along with any pavement or landscape patching). The meterbase may be too small or the conduit and wire that we have to replace are buried in a wall (instead of surface mounted). These are some of the other factors that affect cost. Also sometimes the existing panel is located in a spot no longer allowed by code (i.e. bathroom or enclosed in a cabinet). In which case, we have to relocate the main panel to a more suitable location and splice and extend all of the circuits in your home to the new panel. These factors are also dictated by local Codes too. As a company we must follow these rules and price our work accordingly. This helps us ensure the safety of your electrical system and that it will be working properly for years to come. We hope we will be able to serve you in the future.

They're outrageously expensive and I probably won't use them again in the future. I have some complicated electrical issues and they gave me answers and estimates to that seemed to be more beneficial to them than to me. They recommended that I replace my entire electrical panel, which was estimated to be $3,000, even though the house is only 10 years old. I've had other opinions that believe that's unnecessary. Even the small job they did do was expensive.
Description of Work: They programmed a light switch. The switch wasn't broken, it just wasn't programmed correctly.

Response from Fuller Electric
Our estimate was more inclusive of a panel change as it had surge protection, extra dedicated outlets roughly 100 ft away and the time for the original service call. We're sorry all of that additional work got lost in the bottom line price on our proposal. It is standard for Fuller to recommend a panel upgrade when there are no more available circuits and to accomodate room for a whole house surge suppressor. The other way is to put in "mini-breakers" but there is a limit in what we are comfortable doing as we've seen them not dissipate heat as well as standard breakers. Absolute safety is a priority in our company. The equipment that we recommend is more robust than the typical "economy gear" that we see in use. This cuts down on service call backs in the long run and provides for a more reliable system overall. We can provide a less expensive alternative, however we were trying to promote long term quality over initial cost. We never try to brag that we are going to be the cheapest shop out there. The cornerstone to our business model is providing the best service that will provide lasting results for a fair price. We thank you for letting us program your timer switch. Hopefully we can gain your trust on future opportunities. The feedback is appreciated.

They did a great job with all the services that they provided. One of the products they installed was a quiet bathroom fan by Panasonic. The fan motor died and I needed to get it replaced and panasonic required a receipt but I did not have the product receipt since Fuller Electric bought it themselves and Fuller was paid for the job which included the fan. When I called Fuller to get the receipt for the product the said they didn't have it and weren't much help in getting the motor replaced by Panasonic. Beside that one product issue they were great to work with.

Typically we don't keep receipts for equipment past a year (a lot of manufacturer's warranties expire). However in order to service our clients better, we are upgrading our system. We are storing all electrical maintenance (receipts included) by address. Think of it as the glovebox you use for any car work that you get done. We appreciate your feedback as it is making us a stronger, better electrical contractor. We hope to earn your business next time around.

Very professional job. They are highly recommended!
Description of Work: This was probably a very small job for Fuller but they treated it like it was a big one. They ran two data lines in my home for audio/video applications. John provided the work. He was professional and very knowledgeable. When he noticed the work order/estmate included unecessary work, he deducted it from the job price. I probably would not have noticed if he didn't. Very nice job.

The owner and I have completely different definitions as to what a 'free' estimate means. He wanted to charge me $225.00 to come out to my rental property. I asked him if this was a part of the 'free' estimate, and said "yes." He wasn't polite at all. Therefore, I decided not to work with him.

Response from Fuller Electric
The customer called us to report a bathroom fixture not working. In situations where it is not exactly clear what the problem is, the estimate is $225 to come out and have an electrician troubleshoot. Sometimes this is all that it takes to correct the problem. However, in an effort to be open and honest with the client, we acknowledge that there could be latent issues that aren't apparent during the troubleshooting process. In such cases, Washington State law mandates that we correct the problem since our electrical contracting license is on the line. When this happens, We will inform the customer what it will take to fix the underlying issues. The simple truth is we don't charge $225 to come out to give an estimate. The estimate was $225, which includes time to fix simple electrical problems. This is a misrepresentation of our policies and practices. We tried to explain this in various ways and it seems like there was a breakdown in communication. Next time we will try harder to make our policies more clear in these matters.

The tech arrived on time, the job went a little over due to some unforseen problems. The technician knew what he was doing and was not going to rust, he made sure the job was done properly and passed inspection. With this positive experience I am having Fuller come back to do some kitchen rewiring.
Description of Work: I needed to upgrade the electrical panel. Had 3 bids to to do work. Choose Fuller based on previous expreience that I had with them. The are a professional company. They needed to upgrade the panel and bring the panel up to code, including proper grounding and bonding.

This was the second time I'd worked with Fuller Electrical. They moved some wiring and installed a ceiling fan in my front hallway last year. I was sufficiently impressed with their work that I asked them back. It took them about two days to do a ton of work. Randy was polite, hard-working, and a treat to have in my house. The work was performed quickly, and they cleaned up well after themselves. They're pretty much my default electricians now. If I need electrical work, they're who I'll call first!
