This review is not going to be any different from other reviews: We are extremely happy with the finished result and thoroughly enjoyed working with Glenn, who is very open and straight-forward, experienced, dependable, and focused on quality and customer satisfaction. Glenn and his team are creative, try to come up with solutions to fix minor issues that always come up during installation and is extremely flexible. We are really glad we hired stone pros to remodel our kitchen.
Description of Work: Glenn helped us with the installation of granite in our kitchen and 2 bathrooms. He made it as seamless as possible for us, guiding us all the way through from start to end. He gave us an estimate, was always to the point (no cheap sales tactics), explained pros and cons of different stones, advised us to visit 2-3 granite shops before making our decision, helped us make the decision, confirmed that we were happy with the granite slabs his team picked up from the store by having us visit his workshop, removed old countertops and installed the new countertop.

We are extremely happy with the finished result and thoroughly enjoyed working with Glenn, who is very open and straight-forward, experienced, dependable, and focused on quality and customer satisfaction. Our kitchen is large enough that no single slab would cover the longest stretch and Glenn managed to cut and install our granite in a way that the seam which joins two slabs is invisible. His crew prep'd for and cleaned up perfectly from the demolition, and the installation was flawless. When we're ready to remodel our bathrooms we will use Stone Pros again.
Description of Work: Stone Pros replaced our original 15-year-old kitchen counter tops with new granite ones. Glenn and his team provided design and slab selection guidance, demolished our old stone tile counters, provided temporary support for our kitchen sink and cooktop, did the shop work to cut and finish the stones we chose, and installed the finished granite countertops. Glenn also provided a great recommendation for a plumber to handle the kitchen sink/faucet install after the counters went in. We made one solo visit to the granite suppliers in south Seattle (Pental, Meta) to get a sense of what was available and then met Glenn on a second visit to the warehouses to make a final stone choice. It helped tremendously to draw on his professional experience in both the design and stone selection.

After getting several quotes to remove and replace my master bathroom countertops, I finally found Glenn of Stone Pros. He is very knowledgable about the different kinds of stone that would work in my bathroom, and even went with me to pick out the slab. He also advised me to have my mirrors removed and replaced so they would not get damaged during the remodel, which was great advice and worked out perfectly. His professional, courteous manner was so appreciated, and the project turned out beautifully thanks to the expertise of his team. We sold our house not long afterward, and look forward to having Glenn work on our new house updates. Thank you Glenn and crew for your excellent work!

Fabulous. I cannot say enough about Glen & his team. The estimate was spot on. The workmanship was flawless. The time frame from warehouse to fabrication & installation was amazing. We added a few last minute details which they took in stride with no problems. Glen offered so many ideas which were not addressed by the other 3 estimates we had; very cost competitive. I feel like they were working on their own home; not much more to ask than that. So many little details he suggested that we would not have thought of which made huge differences in the smallest of corners to the largest part of the counters. We could not be happier.

ceramic tile, flooring contractor, home remodeling

Immediately after closing on my new home at the end of July, I went to Home Depot, selected tile, and paid to have my kitchen floor re-tiled. I made it clear that I wanted it done before my move in date - August 25 - and they did not feel it would be a problem. A week and a half later, I finally got my call to schedule the install, and they said they were booked into September. I contacted Stone Pros in a bit of a tizzy. With two cats and a crazy work schedule, I didn't want to deal with the implications of having tiling done _after_ I had moved in. What to do with the cats? Do I trust strangers in a home full of my things for multiple days or would I need to miss work to be there? I explained to Glenn that I was a bit desperate to get the work done the following week. He had to shift some long term contract work around to make it work, but he was able to accommodate my, by that time, very tight schedule, and for that I was very thankful. That same day he came to my house to provide an estimate. I showed him the tile I had picked, we debated the desired install style, and he provided a written estimate. He also pointed out that while I was getting the kitchen done, it would be fairly inexpensive to re-tile two adjoining areas - the entryway and the area in front of the fireplace - both of which were also in need of a little tiling TLC. In trying to prioritize my wants, I'd never considered that it would be much cheaper to do them all at the same time and took him up on the offer. Glenn and his team were much more flexible with my schedule than many other contractors I've worked with. I had already scheduled a plumber on Monday morning, and his team agreed to come in later in the day to accommodate that. What I couldn't expect was that the plumber would cause so many problems, leaving me with a $400+ bill, a non-functional and damaged old sink, a damaged countertop, and a handyman task I hadn't anticipated - cutting the countertop to accommodate the new sink. When Glenn saw my frustration, he volunteered to help with the handyman task - only charging me for the special blade needed and providing both his time and his tool for free. This wasn't the only instance where Stone Pros went above and beyond what was asked. Knowing that I wanted the refrigerator in the garage long term and that it would have been very difficult for me to do it alone, Glenn and his team didn't just roll it away from their tiling area and roll it back when they were done. Instead they took the mammoth beast of a refrigerator apart, moved it into the garage, and while I told them it wasn't necessary, then put the it back together. While I felt guilty at all the time and effort they spent, I must admit it was a huge relief to come home and find the refrigerator not only moved but also back together again in the garage. Glenn kept me involved and informed with every step of the process, from meeting on the first day to discuss how they would work, where they would store their gear, etc, to text messages when work was ahead of schedule and they wanted to get started on tiling a day early. Even when an ugly surprise reared its head - water damaged wood under the tile in the kitchen - Glenn didn't just call with the problem; he called with a solution and an estimate for the cost of the solution. I also enjoyed getting to see the start of laying out the tile before committing to my tile pattern as it confirmed visually what I'd seen in my head when imaging the new floor. The team started on time, ended on time, and their work was of the highest quality. Even my slightly OCD tendencies can't find fault with their grout lines, and I appreciated Glenn's push back on some of my original choices now that I can see the finished product with Glenn's recommendations incorporated. Stone Pros tiled all three areas of my home as opposed to just the one, repaired unexpected water damage, saved me from having to get an emergency handyman on site to assist in an unrelated sink install, and moved a mammoth refrigerator into the garage from my kitchen, all for just $1500 more than my original Home Depot estimate for a single area install with no water damage, no handyman tasks, and no refrigerator in the garage. Couple that with his expert advice and ability to get the job done in the time frame I needed, and I couldn't be happier.
Description of Work: Ceramic tile install in three areas of the house including but not limited to consultation about appropriate tile for the areas, removal of existing appliances, demolition of previous tile and vinyl floor coverings, repair of water damaged floor boards, and the installation of the new tile. Also helped with an unrelated handyman task - expanding a hole in the countertop to allow for a new sink.

Worked with Glenn from Stone Pros who provided excellent advice, guidance and performed the job above and beyond expections. We feel we received excellent value for the price. From a woman's perspective, he was very respectful of me and my opinions and worked to ensure that I was happy with all aspects of the project. They did a great job of keeping the work area clean and protecting our hard wood floors. The job was done on schedule and on budget. Glenn also recommended a plumber "Mike" (also on Angie's list) who did an excellent job as well. We highly recommend Stone Pros and will call them for our next project. Laura D.

The owner, Glenn, was very informative and gave us a good explanation over the phone regarding what needed to be done. The next day, two of his men came out and did a great job and left everything looking spotless. They were very careful to protect the floors and surrounding areas. The job was neat and better looking than I expected. They were very professional in their manner and I felt comfortable that they knew what they were doing. The owner, Glenn, called that evening to check in after the job was finished. This is a very professionally run company.
Description of Work: Much to my surprise, our kitchen sink started falling down and out of our lovely granite kitchen countertop on Wednesday night. Quick research indicated that the company who installed it four years ago doesn't exist anymore. So after a brief look at Angie's list, we called Stone Pros (Wednesday night after 6) Even though they were scheduled out for a week and a half, they came to our rescue on Thursday and reinstalled the sink properly, efficiently and with great professionalism.

Glenn and his team represent what all contractors should be. He sets the bar for professionalism, craftsmanship, and communication that all others should be measured by. We had a brief conversation over the phone where I described what I was looking for. During the call he offered me some choices to consider and gave me some good advice; especially since I was installing marble which has its set of challenges. We set up a meeting and he provided a courtesy call to confirm and let us know when he would be arriving. He was on time to every meeting we set up and always provided a courtesy call ahead of time. During each meeting he was meticulous about the details and wanting to make sure we got exactly what we were looking for. During our initial design meeting he gave us a suggestion that made an amazing change to how our space looked. Throughout the process he provided guidance and advice to make sure we ended up with our dream kitchen. While cutting the marble a fissure appeared in our slab. While this is natural and doesn't present a stability risk it is an aesthetic issue. Glenn called us immediately, emailed pictures, and outlined options. We met him an hour later to pick out a new slab. The new slab required additional work for Glenn and his team but he didn't bat an eye because he wanted to make sure we got exactly what we wanted. Our counters went in today and they are stunning. The craftsmanship is amazing and the service is equal to their artistry.

This is the second time I have used Stone Pros. In Jan. 2012 Glen, Uriel and Mike installed a large piece of angled granite in my master bath which was a beautiful, perfect job. This June 2012 job involved the granite in my new kitchen and powder room. As always, Glen is a pro-active listener who has great ideas and can really visualize a job. He even gave me an idea of how my lighting should be reconfigured and he was spot-on. He also gave me quality sink company ideas, which I then ordered from him and Amazon, saving me hundreds of dollars. His suggestion that I not do a full back-splash and instead use a milled down 2CM granite back-splash was more in keeping with my kitchen design, and saved me hundreds of dollars in tiling fees. If you ask, Glen will give you a separate bid for demolition. Their bid was competitive and I am so glad I had them do the demo. Screening off doorways to the kitchen with plastic, taping down Ram board, doubling it before moving appliances and even adding extra padding under the heavy fridge before covering appliances with plastic all proved to be well thought out. The electrician and cabinet installer were so messy, that had Glen's team not done such a careful job, I would have had an even bigger drywall dust and sawdust mess. I spent months viewing slabs, not finding one that suited the space and my taste. Glen suggested visit Meta and take a look at granite he had used on another job. It turned out to be perfect! (He's proactive and considerate of the client's time: Before he met me that Sat. he viewed same granite I had viewed at another company, just to make sure Meta had the best slabs for me.) One note on Glen's gift for design and visualization: Another granite company drew a computer design, showing an off-set island overhang, rather than a curved semi-circle, insisting it would be "perfect." Glen immediately saw the design error, and proved his point with a cardboard template. It doesn't take a computer program to plan a well-designed granite install. It does take someone like Glen who has design, visualization and a talented team to carry out the plan. Glen also worked well with my cabinet company, exchanging e-mails and arranging his schedule to be on site when the cabinet designer was there so that we could make sure the tight island overhang measurements were exact. He thoughtfully made me a template of the island extension early so that the pendant lights could be planned with the electrician. Stone Pros turn-around time from template to install is also amazing. They templated on a Thursday and granite was installed on the next Tuesday. Glen, Mike and Uriel made this installation another easy, stress-free experience, handling some last minute challenges caused by my cabinet installer with confidence, experience and their exacting fabrication skills. Stone Pros is only sub-contractor I have worked with in two room remodels that has been incredibly responsible, proactive and absolutely perfect from start to finish. It's easy to see that they love their work and take pride in a beautiful, quality result!

We could not have been any happier with Glenn and his team. They are professional, responsive and a real pleasure to do business with. We will definitely be using them again when we tackle updating our bathrooms. In today's business environment, there are lots of choices out there but you're never sure who will be the "right" one....Stone Pros are those guys. The quality of the work it excellent. Our island is beautiful thanks to their design and the countertops are flawless - the one seam is invisible. Glenn worked with us every step of the way from granite selection to installation. These guys really know their business.
Description of Work: Stone pros did a fantastic job of transforming our kitchen from drab to fantastic. Our kitchen was outdated and lacking in design flair. With the expert direction and help from Glenn and his foreman mike, we now feel like we have a beautiful kitchen. We were so impressed with the quality of the craftsmanship, we decided to also have them do our laundry room. We have worked with several contractors, but none that are as good, reliable and trustworthy as Stone Pros.

I have worked with many contractors in my life but have never had an experience that I would call "outstanding" except for Stone Pros. They are professional, intelligent, reliable, and friendly. They not only come when they say they are going to but call ahead to let you know they are on the way. They bring a tent so they can work even in the rain, tarps to protect your floors and belongings, and are meticulous about cleaning up when they are finished. Each worker is polite and friendly...they each wear a company t-shirt that says "THINK" on it to constantly remind each other to pay attention to what they are doing. Their customer service is superior...once when we were reviewing something, I said that would be "fine" and he said "We don't want it to be fine; we want you to be totally happy with what we do."...and he meant it! And I am!

Echo what others have shared already about SPT&G based on his work portfolio. The reviews on Angie's list sparked initial interest. Upon entry, Glenn make quick observations of the kitchen. He asked questions and offered suggestions to improve look-and-feel of kitchen area. Glenn gave an overview of the services and slab selection process. He gave his opinions on the different surface options, back-splash (tile vs granite) and sinks (surface vs undermount). We asked questions and he gave knowledgeable answers. Glenn also suggest that if we plan to change cook top in the near future we are better off to delay his services until we make that change. We have not decided whether or not to update the kitchen now or later as just completed bathroom remodel. If and when we decide to move forward we would consider SPT&G as an option. Overall initial experience was great!!

Glenn was on-time, very professional, phoning ahead the morning of the appointment to confirm the time and then again calling when he was about 10 minutes away. Glenn was never rushed, listened carefully and offered good advice. He recommended going to several stone wholesalers to look at granite options. We ended up choosing a species at Meta, and Glenn met us there the following Saturday. He again was very thorough and guided the selection process, asking that the slabs be brought out and set up in full light. We scheduled the installation for two weeks later. The Stone Pros crew phoned in advance of their imminent arrival, came on time, organized the work well and protected floors and with dust control. They finished demo and created templates. They returned three days later, again on time and well organized. All work was quality driven. They had to come back to adjust the holes for a sink faucet, but that was minor. They installed the sink faucet to make sure all was correct and we were happy.Stone Pros takes the Nordstrom perspective to make sure the customer is fully satisfied.
Description of Work: Stone Pros measured our countertops for new granite. Included kitchen countertops and bathroom vanity. We met with Glenn at the granite wholesaler to select two slabs to use for new countertops. We purchased the granite through Glenn who picked up the granite later that week. Demolition and templates were done on Monday and granite installed on Thursday.

It went wonderfully. We asked Glenn to take a look at our all-over tile steam shower because we were concerned about some cracked grout and potential water damage. Given the way in which our shower is integrated into the bathroom I was very afraid of bad news about needing extensive work that might even require cosmetic work throughout the room. Glenn completely put us at ease while explaining the possible causes for what we were seeing and our options. He clearly knows his craft and explained everything as he went including answering our extensive questions. We appreciated that he was very professional and at the same time very frank in explaining what was good and bad about the design of our shower. Ultimately Glenn recommended a small scale fix of caulking the window and around the area where the benches connect to the tile rather than taking things apart and redoing everything. This was a huge relief and it was great to see his honesty in recommending what he thought made the most sense for our situation even though it was on small scale. He went out of his way to help us with this fix and accommodate our schedule given pending arrival of numerous guests. He was punctual, friendly, and clearly dedicated to making sure that our experience with him was top notch. We look forward to working with him on a larger (and more fun) project when we get around to remodeling our kitchen in a couple years.
Description of Work: Glenn evaluated our shower for potential leaks and water damage partially due to an operable window with a crank at shin level in our tile steam shower. He caulked the base of the window as well as around where our folding benches connect to the wall.

Much of the story is written above. Glenn is very good at explaining exactly what will happen and when things will happen. He and Mike and their assistant were very professional, making sure that the work area within our house was completely sealed off so that when they needed to "demolish" the old tile countertop, take out the old sink and old range top, no dust or dirt escaped into other areas of the house. After they made templates - with the sink and range top removed - they put these items back so that we could still use the sink and range, even though the countertops had been removed! Nice, because now we had a functioning kitchen while they were cutting and polishing the new granite countertops. I certainly would use Stone Pros again for any tile or granite project. I highly recommend them!
Description of Work: My wife and I contacted Glenn Schiff of Stone Pros to get an estimate and an overview of their services for replacing our old tile countertop with a granite countertop. As a stone sculptor myself, I have some knowledge of granite but Glenn and his foreman Mike are intimately familiar with all aspects of granite work. Things went very smoothly from start to finish. Glenn suggested a number of granite warehouses that we could visit and after looking at hundreds of different granite slabs, my wife and I tagged a few that we knew would work well in our kitchen. After visiting our house and making a precise template of our island space as well as the area near the sink, Glenn and Mike went to M S International, Inc. (the place that had our granite slabs) and took them to their workshop where they positioned the templates to get the best possible patterns and colors to work together. Once they had a general idea of how the slab might be cut, they called me out to their workshop so that we, together, could finalize the template layout. Then, Glenn, Mike and another stone worker cut out the pieces and routed edges to our specifications. A couple of weeks later, Glenn, Mike and their assistant returned to our house with the granite pieces and assembled the countertop and backsplash and island area in one day! The result is beautiful, even better than my wife and I had imagined it would be. The workmanship is superb and the design elements, like hidden steel plates beneath an extended granite bar area, are well thought out and engineered to last forever. Glenn really worked hard to make sure that my wife and I knew exactly what to expect throughout the entire process. When either of us had a question and called Glenn, he always returned our calls within minutes, even if he was working on another job. On the day that Glenn and Mike put in the countertop and island, they also gave us an 11" square cutting board made of our granite. They also cut out a separate marble table top that can eventually be positioned at the very end of the main countertop. These items were extras that Glenn and Mike provided after we had already agreed upon the final price for their service.

Glen is a consummate professional. He not only shows up for scheduled appointments, but he shows up on time, which is something other contractors have trained me not to expect. At my appointment, he asked the right questions in order to determine what my needs were. In my case, I plan to move in the next 2-3 years, so I needed to install something that will appeals to a large demographic with the lower to mid priced granite slabs. He accompanied me to the warehouse to locate my granite slab making it clear that several visits to finalize my decisions were common. Fortunately, with his guidance I was able to locate the perfect peace on my first visit. During the demolition and installation, Glen's guys were very respectful to me and my property. They always welcomed questions and accommodated my requests. I wanted them to leave me my island counter and to reinstalling a sink, which allowed me to use my kitchen while I waited for my granite to be fabricated and installed later in the week. On demolition day and installation day, they placed protective covers down from my entryway to my kitchen. This ensured that my hardwood was not scratched and prevented muddy footprints from being tracked into the house. In fact, I got my kitchen back cleaner than they found it. Not only does Glen provide a competitive bid with high-grade materials and quality workmanship, he also treats you and your house with the upmost respect. I will be using him for future projects

From the initial appointment, Glenn and his crew were consistently on time. Glenn's bid was similar to another bid we had received, but his reviews on Angies List were far better. Once we decided to use Stone Pro's, he set an appointment for us to select the granite. Glenn went with us to pick out our granite and was helpful in narrowing down our choices and making the final selection. By that time, we had the schedule for the demolition/templating and installation for the new countertops and backsplash. Before starting, the crew laid down floor and carpet protection from the entryway to the kitchen. The demolition and templating was completed in one day and I went to the house to confirm that the templating matched our vision. The peninsula we wanted was going to be shorter with less rounded corners and I discussed that with Mike, the job foreman. Later that week I went to see the layout of the template on the granite slabs and got an idea of how they would match up the seams. The installation went well, though it took a little longer than expected. At the end of the day, the work area was cleaned, inside and out. After the job was completed, they removed the floor protection and cleaned all debris. The finished job exceeded our expectations to the point that I couldn't see the seams where the granite was joined on the countertops. Before leaving, they cleaned and sealed the countertops and backsplash and left us cleaner and sealant to ensure we maintain the granite. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Stone Pro's to anyone contemplating a project requiring granite installation. Glenn and his crew are professional, knowledgable and were patient in answering even the most mundane questions I asked.
Description of Work: Stone Pro's removed our old countertops and tile backsplash replacing them with a granite countertop and backsplash.

I was nervous to have this job done as it is so important that it is done exactly right. Glenn and his crew were great! I made an appointment for Glenn to give me a bid. He called ahead to confirm and throughout the whole process was always timely and in contact with me and my numerous questions. Glenn's bid was better than another contractor and a 'big box store' but his work was impeccable (and I am very picky). Glenn had a great portfolio of past work and had great suggestions and ideas. I liked that his suggestions helped me get a 'higher-end' look but not for a higher price. After the bid and a completely detailed contract, we met at a stone place in South Seattle where he patiently walked through slab after slab with me. He gave great suggestions and good advice on current trends and styles. He also gave me a great referral to get a good price on a new stainless sink, I ordered it online, paid over the phone and Glenn went and picked it up for me. When they came to take out my laminate, they painter's taped down thick cardboard on all my hardwoods and walkways to keep everything clean and protected. I expected dust everywhere, but it was very clean and tidy. They temporarily re-hooked up my sink and stove top so I wasn't stuck without them for a week, which was great. A week later they came back with my beautifully polished stone that fit perfectly. When I got home from work everything was clean and beautiful - What a huge difference! Now, instead of just a 'kitchen' I have a rich showplace. Thank you Glenn and crew! I will definitely refer them to friends and neighbors and will use them for my next project - the bathroom!
Description of Work: Love, love, love my new granite countertops! Glenn Schiff of Stone Pros and his crew just raised the value of my home! Glenn came out to give me a bid (which was excellent, compared to two other bids), the next week we met at a granite place in South Seattle where I picked my slabs (paid for separately), Glenn and his crew took off my old laminate and backsplash and then a week later did the install. I have a large 'L' shape, two smaller counter areas and my big island cooktop - it just looks so great!

If you don't know a lot about counters, granite, etc., you can count on Glenn. He truly is a good guy.
Description of Work: In a previous review I wrote that Glenn had come by to review work done by another "contractor". Glenn followed up with us and even came to court to testify on our behalf. I can assure you that when we are able to remodel the kitchen correctly Glenn will be the only person we call. He's honest, loyal, and a good guy!

Stone Pros "Simply Amazing". Glen and his crew stand out from all of the rest. They were on time, on budget with no hiccups or problems what so ever. From the minute we met Glen his warmth and genuine knowledge and professionalism was very evident and assuring. You knew he cared and had an interest in our project. Glen went out of his way to totally plumb our new under mount stainless steel sink after the installation of the granite countertops. That was beyond the definition of a granite contractor. But, this is anothr example of Glen's dedication to quality work. His crew, Mike and Yureal carried on that same professionalism. They worked tirelessly to make sure the job was done to perfection. In the end our kitchen was transformed. If you're ever thinking of doing granite, we highly recommend Stone Pros.
