This was a difficult experience, made worse by the post-work contact with the billing person. This company charges $116 per hour for handyman services. The person who did the work took nearly two full days to repair, tape and mud, and paint three areas of drywall. The work was done pretty well, but I felt that this was a lot of time to charge, given that $116 per hour for a handyman is a premium rate. For this rate, I should receive efficient and premium service. I have hired other people for similar work, never paying anything close to this rate. They have managed to get the work done better and faster. A person at the Mr. Handyman office spoke to me about this and then checked with the personnel at the office, who apparently agreed that the time allotted was appropriate. So be it. The real ugliness occurred with the billing person, who seemed more bent on arguing than settling the matter. I explained that I felt that I had not received premium service but that, given that we did not agree, I would pay the bill and not use the service again. She seemed to go off on that. She should not be working with the public. Her attitude was absolutely terrible, though I am sure she will blame the problem on me as a "problem customer." It was a mistake to have hired this contractor.

Mr. Handyman of Everett stole $1200 from my family. Contractor showed up, complained about the job for over an hour, had to go to the store for supplies for over an hour and then barely got anything done during the time he was there. In fact, the work he did was so bad, we had to hire a second company to come and fix all of his mistakes. I will NEVER use this company again.

Jason installed a new dryer vent which required entering a crawlspace to access the exterior wall. Then he helped me hook up a washer and a dryer. He did a great professional job. They arrived on time and kept at it until the job was done and I was completely satisfied. I would definitely use these guys again.

Terrible. They sent me a fairly inexperienced person with a plumbing background to do carpentry work. I helped him almost the entire time. It took him 7+ hours to do this. He tried charging me for the entire time he was here, even though he spent probably more than a half hour on the phone with his office and with other people working things he had in the works on other jobs. I didn't let him get away with that. He didn't mark anything on the existing custom deck steps railing before disassembling it, which caused him to have to redo his work several times when reassembling it because nothing was lining up. He used dull saw blades on my expensive cedar wood I bought as replacement railing and thrashed the edges where he cut them. The first fence post he worked on wasn't lined up properly after he re-cemented it back in place and I made him redo it. The second I helped him align it and worked with him on it because I no longer trusted him to do a decent job. An experienced handyman would've gotten this all done in maybe 4 hours with my help. I ended up paying him extra time for all his mistakes, I ended up helping him 5 hours, and he didn't get all the work I had planned for him done. Horrible experience and I will never use Mr. Handyman again for anything I need done.
Description of Work: Replaced two handrails on existing deck steps, re-cemented in a cracked fence post foundation, dug out and replaced another rotten fence post and side board and nailed its existing fence boards back (about 40 nails).

Service appointment was very prompt after my initial call, and the gentleman was right on time. He was professional, courteous and did a very competent job. I was a bit surprised that the screen replacements had to be done off site, but maybe that is normal. I was concerned about the price, but I knew going in what their rates were and didn't want to take a chance on a "non-recommended" handyman to do my work. But over $350 for 3 hours of labor seems pretty high and I will check other options the next time I need work done. With that said, I would recommend Mr. Handyman, just be aware of the cost.

We were hooked up with them through Home Depot because they couldn't do the install themselves. The office person, Cindy, was wonderful, helpful and understanding (I had been through a lot and was upset that Home Depot didn't show up when they were supposed to). I was scheduled for the next day and they even picked up the microwave from Home Depot for me. The installer showed up on time and did a great, quick job.

They were great. They came on time and sent their best drywall guy out. He did an excellent job. He was fast, efficient and had all the tools he needed. We had him do some extra minor things around the house before he left as well. He was a little more expensive than I expected but they did fine work. I had called a few other companies and this was the only company that was readily available to do the work. They were able to schedule me right away and they came out on their promised time.

Clay was absolutely 150% on the job. I cannot emphasize enough how much I appreciated his professionalism, his hustling, and his desire to do a perfect job. I was impressed. The price was pretty steep, but I don't have anything to compare it with, so who knows how much the others would have charged. Also, he said that the copper pipes that he used to replace the old ones cost $200. We had a leak in the water heater pipes that caused moisture ants to find a home in our crawl space. I phoned around to find a handyman service and everybody was booked out. Mr Handyman did not get the best ratings on Angie's List and wasn't my first choice, but they were the ones who responded quickly, sent someone to assess the problem. He estimated that the repair would be between $400 and $850, told me how the problem would be fixed and I decided to hire them. They scheduled me for an appointment one and a half weeks into the future. But the leak had been there for a while and I did not need a super-quick response, so that worked for me. On the day of the service, Clay was there almost half hour before the scheduled time and didn't stop working until he left almost 8 hours later. He had to drain the water heater and cut the drywall. According to him, the pipes that went from the water heater into the wall and from there into the crawl space had been sagging and ended up sitting on concrete, which caused a leak over time. He cut the pipes on the side of the garage (where the water heater is) and in the crawl space. Then he installed new pipes between the wall and the water heater. He took out all the dry rot and put a piece of wood in for the pipes to go through (so they wouldn't sit on concrete). Then he resoldered the pipes together. Everything seemed to go well until he turned the water back on, which showed a leak. He was hustling to get the leak fixed and seemed to get it all to where it was dry. However, the next day I went into the crawl space and discovered a pretty steady leak. I called them again and they quickly sent Clay to take care of it immediately. He came within 30 minutes and went right to work. After checking a number of things and resoldering the pipes, he found that part of the pipe was defective. So he cut that out. But this didn't completely solve the problem. It took Clay almost 4 hours to make sure everything was fixed. The whole time, he was very gracious and professional. While fixing the problem, he saw that the main water line was sagging and he installed copper hooks to hook it back up. He also sprayed lots of wood preservative to help the moisture in the wood (from the new leak) dry out. He told me that the Mr. Handyman service guaranteed their work for 1 year and not to hesitate to call again if there was a problem. Later that day I realized that the water pressure in the kitchen seemed low. I checked the water shutoff and the faucet over the water heater, then discovered a leak at the water heater faucet. I called him and he came within about 30 minutes. He told me that that faucet must have come loose with all the work on the water heater and that he had not touched it that day. But he quickly fixed it and again was very gracious. Clay is a hard worker and very professional. I would hire him again.

The guy that came out had a nice van and had all the equipment to do the job. He didn't work particularly fast and sometimes was talking on the cell phone a bit, which annoyed me. He was able to solve all of our problems, but I was unhappy with the quality of his drywall patch. I wouldn't hire him again and I wish I had found someone else.

Original job looked nice but after a couple of years the poor workmanship and non-watertight construction techniques used came to light after slow but steady leaking soaked into the sheet rock wallboard, through the wall into the adjacent rooms where it soaked into the carpeting and wooden bases of bookcases and furniture located on the opposite sides of the shower stall walls. Original contractor who gave me the estimate and told me how he would do the job but farmed it out to a sub-contractor who did such a poor job it had to be torn out and done again. The Handyman of Snohomish sent out an individual who gave me an estimate, told me step-by-step what would be and needed to be done and did all the work himself. He showed me all the poor corner-cutting steps the previous contractor took as he tore it apart. During his rebuild he showed me each step he took as he reconstructed it with great skill and craftsmanship.

I received an email from my renters informing me of a few problems in the unit (they had just moved in a month ago after the place was vacant for over a year). Two of the issues reported were with doors being difficult to close. The toilet in the downstairs was flushing slowly and running for a long time. The Fridge was also reportedly leaking water down into the lower part from the freezer. I scheduled an appointment and was given a time for the following day. The company sent out a gentleman named Tim. He immediately went to work inspecting each item and determining what kind of repair was necessary and what kind of time it would take to perform the work. He was easy to deal with and I felt that his estimates were all reasonable. He finished the work in a timely manner (it took roughly 6 hours to do everything, including installing a new toilet that he went and picked up). I feel the work done was quality and the repairman was very informative. He gave me a fully detailed list of the cost breakdown and let me know before and after the work was done where he was.
Description of Work: Repaired a gap in the front door as well as adjusting the door to better fit the opening. The bathroom door was reduced in size to better fit the opening and it was painted after. The toilet in the downstairs bathroom was replaced. The fridge was inspected to determine the source of a leak.

Mr. Handyman was able to schedule an appointment for me the same day I called. I was told the technician, Clifford, would be there sometime between 2:00 and 3:00 that afternoon. He called me as he was finishing up his previous job to let me know he was on his way and when he thought he would arrive. He was very prompt, courteous, and professional. He did a preliminary assessment and we discussed the options based on that assessment. I was able to make a final decision about how I wanted him proceed once he had removed the toilet and was able to thoroughly examine the situation. At that point, he left to purchase the molding he would need to use as a finishing for project, as it wasn't something he carried with him in the van. The purchase was completely quickly and he returned to work, finishing in just under 2 hours. I am very satisfied with the work that was performed by Clifford and would not only recommend Mr. Handyman again, I would also specifically recommend Clifford for any handyman projects you might have. After two years of temporary fixes, I finally have a toilet that doesn't rock and isn't an eyesore in my bathroom!

He was excellent and was real creative in what, he did. He didn’t replace the window; he made it stop leaking and fixed the woodwork. There were two guys; but, the first guy was really good at what he did. He was effective and cleaned up after himself. He didn’t have to replace the entire window frame which would have been more time consuming and expensive; he patched it and, it looks perfect. The first guy was great but the second guy didn’t do such a good job.
Description of Work: I used Mr. Handyman of Snohomish County. They repaired a leak in a window; and, then repaired the damage that was on the window frame. We have a floor that’s upstairs; it, was uneven, he floated some cement type stuff on it; and, evened that out a little bit. They replaced the carpet that had been damaged by water, a couple of months ago.
