Jason and Jessica never completed our job. We fired them after 5 weeks of missed deadlines and excuses. It started in August, when we paid them over 50% of the contract amount to get the project started. After a couple weeks, they delayed the start of our project by two weeks. Little did we know this was a sign of what was to come. When Jason finally showed up to get started, he quickly got the framing in place for our deck. We were pretty happy with the pace of the work and the quality we were seeing. At the time the framing was complete, we made another installment payment as specified in our contract. That is when it all went downhill. Jason stopped showing up reliably. When he did show up, he got very little done. He didn't have a powerful enough pressure washer to effectively wash our fence. Although our contract specified that all deck fasteners would be stainless steel, he had to go back and special order the carriage bolts for our trellis and deck railing after we discovered he was planing to use something of lower quality. He used that as an excuse to delay our job for yet another week + charged us more money for the bolts. When the bolts arrived, he still did not make much progress. By then, the weather was getting colder and his attempts to stain the wood for the deck were not turning out well. The stain wouldn't dry. He finally started installing the deck boards anyways and what we have seen so far is that they are sticky and splotchy. He installed a step and about 5 or 6 deck boards. After we paid for a better pressure washer, he finished washing the fence. At that point, Jason apologized to my husband, acknowledging that he compromised our project schedule so that he could get the next installment payment. Instead of staining the wood first, while the weather was still nice, he built the frame, took our money and went on to work with other clients, only half-heartedly working on our project on his own terms. He promised to do better. Two days later, he was back to his old tricks - stating that he would not be showing up for work due to the weather. I told him that this was unacceptable and asked for a phone call to discuss. He refused to speak with me via phone about the fact that after 5 weeks, I have basically the same thing I had after week one - a deck frame and a bunch of unstained wood in my garage. On top of it all, they advertise themselves as being licensed, bonded and insured, but when you look them up on the Washington State website, you can see that all of their stuff is expired or suspended. I would never work with these people again. I would never recommend them.
