Lakeside Septic

Our septic warning light and alarm had gone off the previous night and I called Rick first thing the next morning. He came by just a few hours later and took a look at all our tanks. Everything seemed to look okay besides the fact that it all needed pumping and cleaning. He pumped both septic holding tanks as well as the clean pump tank. Discovered that the sludge build-up was at an unusually high level in the clean pump tank possibly meaning that when the last company serviced the tanks 4 years ago, that they didn't pump the clean pump tank. Recommended having an electrician check out the electric component of the system to determine why the alarm went off and what might be wrong with that portion. Rick was very informative, prompt, profession and we will look to him for future septic needs!

Lakeside was professional and prompt. Called to assist me in locating my lids and how to prep the site for his arrival. My only suggestion would be to discard of any parts that he replaces instead of requesting that the homeowner discard them.

When your septic tank fails, you don't really have time to shop around. I will use them again. I already had them come out here again once to look at the filter.

Late Wednesday night, we thought that we had a leak in the house as we noticed water in the laundry room in our basement. After searching for the leak and searching for the problem, my husband realized that our septic tank was full and would start backing up after running water in the house for some time. Which didn't really make sense to us as we had it pumped just 2 1/2 years ago. Panicking...I called a few different services Wednesday night, hoping for an early call and service Thursday morning. Rick called early Thursday and said that he could come out that morning and pump the tank for us. He was on time and very professional. He pumped the tank and searched for a clog. He also gave us some good tips on how to prolong the pumping in the future; however, we're definitely going to have it checked in 2 years to be safe. We will definitely be calling Rick back at the 2 year mark.

A few months after buying our new house, during a rainy stretch, we started having water back up into the house. I was in a panic because, gross. So I called Lakeside at like 7pm on a Sunday night, and he got right back to me with an appointment Monday morning. That in and of itself made him my favorite person ever. He came out and diagnosed the problem, explaining all the nuances to my husband. It turns out the pumping that had been done as part of our home inspection was sub-par, and there was a clogged filter. He unclogged the filter, and we scheduled him to come back and re-pump the system (for piece of mind) and then actually replace the filter. After the first visit, my plumbing was working better than before, so I was thrilled. Then he came back and did all the other stuff, and now I am confident that we are up to date on maintenance. I will use him again in the future. He is very knowledgeable.

I thought it was fine but a little expensive. The guy was responsive and definitely knows what he was talking about to solve the problem. We would probably use him again or we may try somebody else. We didn’t have any problem with him but we were not so blown away with him that we wouldn’t see if there was somebody who could do it less expensive.

While Rick thought it was going to be A, when it turned out to be B he didn't get mad or flustered but just adjusted his game plan and got us back into our house. I think this flexibility is very important.

I've never used this type of service before but everything went very well and easily. The price seemed competitive but not a particular bargain. I'm OK with paying market rates for good service though.

Rick was able to come out within a day or two. He could have made it sooner if it had been a real emergency. He originally came to add/replace a missing buffer in the Septic tank. But, when the Septic Tank, Buffer Port, and Distribution Box were opened, it became obvious that the original Septic Tank system had been poorly designed and poorly constructed. The Buffer system needed to be rebuilt and a new Distribution Box was needed to be installed for the whole system to work correctly. Rick came back the next day and made the necessary changes. He did a quick and great job. I had planned on doing the job myself but it quickly became apparent that the job was beyond my level of expertise. Fortunately, Rick was up to the job. The job turned out somewhat expensive but costs much less than the several thousand dollar repair if the entire drainfield needed to be replaced which was my fear.

Contractor was on time and since we had not correctly identified the tank and exposed it, he helped with that. It had been 10 years since previous cleaning so there was an extra amount of sludge which had to be flushed which was an additional charge. I was given suggestions and hints for the future to prevent root infiltration into the drain system and a recommendation for maintenance.

The company was great to work with! Rick was on time (even a little early), informative, professional and efficient. I will use this company again and will refer them to my neighbors.

The provider arrived one hour late. Upon inspecting our septic vault (approximate 8' x 4' x 4') that provides access to our below grade septic tank, he declared it as a "confined space" and refused to proceed. Very disappointing. This has never been a problem with previous providers. In fact, we have received complements about the vault because no digging is required to access the ports. It was a hassle for me to take the time off of work only to find that we were working with a inflexible and particular provider. We won't use this company again.

Very pleased -- as luck so seldom has it, they were finishing up a job in my area when I called AND they'd just had a cancellation, so they arrived a half-hour after my call, and had the job done an hour after that. Rick added value by installing markers over the two tank lids for easy location next time. Very professional and good to work with!

Lakeside Septic came out and diagnosed the problem. They were able to determin the issue was with the outbound line. It had been crushed and worn from being 30+ years old. We had another company come out to do the actual replacement but Lakeside was wonderful. They were accomodating and came out on the weekend for us.

Rick could have saved his time and gas by simply telling me over the phone I needed my septic system located and uncovered, and I could have saved $220.00. Was I suppose to know that he needed me to locate (it says he does that on Angie's List) the septic system? I understand he needs to make a living and his time and gas are worth something, but really, who's fault is it that the septic system wasn't the way he wanted it. If he wanted it a certain way, he should he told me on the phone and I would have figured out a way to take care of it before he showed up. Then when he said, "Most people have it ready for me" it made me feel like he was blaming me. I'm not stupid, I just don't know much about septic systems. that's why I hired a "professional" I'm out $220.00 and he's out nothing. Makes me wonder if he doesn't tell people over the phone on purpose just to get some money and not have to work for it.

He spent less than 10 minutes to say that it might be a septic pump that needs to be replaced, electrical component or the float sensor. His service call charge was $150 +tax. Pump replacement + float is estimated roughly $1400. In addition, I have to hire electrician to do the wiring. He was professional and helpful with the questions I had.

I was very glad I picked Lakeside; he showed me more about the system on my property than I knew already, and even checked the seals on the alarm control box (deteriorating, so I need to make a cover for it) plus gave me a sticker for a reminder to contact him in future.

Gave good advice, was very professional and polite. Did a very good job. Was right on time.

Rick has pumped my tank twice, and I had a good experience. He was scheduled to come this morning at 8AM to pump my tank and inspect the system for a house sale. He called at 8:00 exactly, and told me that he had a problem with his truck and had to cancel. When I asked what he suggested that I do to get the inspection done quickly, and he had no options. I understand mechanical breakdowns, but I believe it's very poor customer service to not be able to provide any options.

Found Rick ( Lakeside Septic) on Angies List. I called and set up an appointment a week out. He gave me a base price estimate dependent on what he would find upon inspection. He kept in touch with me as the week progressed and gave me a window of 1 hour for arrival. He showed, inspected the site. I told him the previous vendors I had used in 2007 said there was only 1 lid to the septic. Rick said they were wrong and said there had to be 2 lids. I found 1 and dug down to expose it. Upon his arrival, he found the other one about 3 feet from the first one I found. He exposed that one. During the course of setting up his pump truck, he explained what he was doing along with explaining to me the structure of the septic tank and how it worked. He was very professional and friendly and knew what he was doing - he has owned the company for 15 years and works solo. The company goes back to the 1950's when his father worked for the original owner. I think the price was ok....We started about 0915 and finished one hour later for a total of $435.00 plus $33.95 tax ( 7.7%) His rig did a very fast job of sucking the septic residue out very rapidly.

Our experience was excellent. The last people that pumped the septic did not hook up part of the pipe so when these people came out, they said they said something was weird and they actually researched what was wrong with it by digging down and finding out that it was actually not connected from the last time it was pumped. They actually went above and beyond what we thought they needed to do. Their demeanor was excellent; they were very nice. They gave us lots of information on how to put everything back together and how to make sure everything was flowing correctly. They said they were going to be here a certain time and they were here.

Rick was professional, on time, and went above and beyond our expectations! When it comes to septic systems, you really want to make sure to get a company that does a job right. We feel we made the right decision with Lakeside Septic. Apparently, we had more waste in the tank than expected for our family of four; two adults and two small children. There was also a damaged filter in the septic system that was left from the previous company. The previous company (Wesco) was hired by the previous owners and when we received a mailer from them a few months ago to let us know it was time to have the tanks pumped, we almost hired them. Thank goodness we checked out reviews on Angle's List before the appointment!! Lakeside Septic and Rick were highly recommended and for good reason. They not only cleared out our waste, but had to do the extra work that Wesco failed to do. Good work, Rick and a big thank you!
