I'm happy with the end result; the Lennox is great, super quiet, cools the house pretty well. My problem was, I assume, a one-off, which is why I'd probably use them again. One of the installers (out of 4 guys) was having a bad day, and we had two issues. The first was about the thermostat. Nate (nice guy!), who did the bid, confirmed that I could use my Nest thermostat and it was part of the contract, along with pulling wires for it. The day of the install, about 5 hours in, one of the installers informed me that the Nest wouldn't work, and I'd have to pay ~$200 for a Honeywell that they'd sell me. It was an honest mistake about how the Nest works for detecting external temperatures (checking nearby weather conditions online) vs. the Honeywell units (installed thermometer outside), but it was pretty surprising thing to do after the install was already halfway done, and had I known it would be an issue, I may have gone with a company that's certified for Nest installs. I asked him to just pull the wiring for the Nest, since it had an equivalent though not-quite-as-accurate feature, and he agreed. He also did set up the Nest correctly to work with the temperature limit once the job was done. The next problem was that my house was a bit painful for pulling the wiring. I understand that's not a fun part of the job, but the cost is included in the bid, so I'd expect it to be done and done professionally. The installer complained loudly for the next hour or so while trying to pull the wire through, about how bad of an idea it was and how much of a pain it was. Also, they don't repair whatever holes they put in drywall (it's in the contract, so this wasn't a surprise), but I was hoping they'd be a bit more restrained in what they did :) They put 4 holes total in my ceilings, one of which was about 2 feet long and 6 inches across. Maybe they were all necessary, so I shouldn't be complaining, but it seemed a bit excessive. Nate came back out and I gave him this feedback, so I'm sure it won't happen again, but I just wanted to share my experience as it happened.

The best service we have ever had with an electrician. He was on time, professional and explained what he had to do in a way that I easily understood. There are many offers for inexpensive air duct cleaning but none of those companies are near where I live. We wanted to form a relationship with them since they are a local business, installed the furnace (for previous owners) and we have several other related projects in mind. We were promised a 25% new customer discount which we did not get plus we were charged for the cleaning of 2 vents that were not accessible and 4 that are for air circulation only - not connected to the ventilation system. I complained several times about not receiving the new customer discount but to no avail and will be taking our other projects elsewhere.

I had a very bad experience with them. They are not very trustworthy. When I bought my town house they were the company that put all the heaters in. I decided to keep them doing yearly maintenance . They stopped going by their word, and they gave me a quote one time for a new furnace. They insisted purchase a new furnace. I didn't accept that because I always kept my filter changed every 3 months faithfully. I called my local utility department and had them come out and check it. They said absolutely not its in good condition, you don't need a new furnace. I thought that was very sly of them to sell me something I needed that I didn't need at all. Just little things like that, that I didn't trust them after that. They weren't cheap. They just started slacking off on the job.

The technician was unable to hook up the dryer but did not contact me to let me know why. My tenant contacted me to let me know the installation was not done properly. To make the story short and simple, when I contacted the C&S Heating office the receptionist was not helpful and provided poor customer service. My husband had to finish the job so our tenant can use the dryer. However, the owner responded to my email promptly and went out of his way to resolve the issue right a way. He did not charge me for the service and offered to have another technician to finish the job. Because of the owner's effort to follow up and resolve the issue, I would give C&S Heating a second chance. I have used them in the past prior to this project and did not have any concerns.
Description of Work: G&S was supposed to replace the old dryer vent hose with up to code vent and connect the dryer. All necessary components were provided from the appliance's company left in the home.

[member name removed], Per our phone conversation, the Installation Tech was unaware that the existing dryer receptacle was mounted on the wall upside down. He thought he would leave the flexible dryer vent unhooked from the wall allowing an electrician easy access to change the pig tail on the new dryer. I can assure you the rest of the work, replacing the damaged dryer vent under the house and wall termination, was done correctly without question. Carlos has been employed here for almost 12 years, and is a very good at what he does. GS called and said they would be early for the appointment. The rep showed up even earlier. He spent most of his time talking about the furnace and telling me it needed a different type of filter system. My existing one he referred to as a rock catcher and I needed some sheet metal alterations to my furnace to accept a better filtration system. He did not do any furnace cleaning. He then went out to view my heat pump. He fiddled around with some gauges and really seemed to be just passing the time away. He told me I should wash the coils of my AC and then informed me that I definitely needed a surge protector for my AC (heat pump) and he could install one right on the spot for a total of $175. I finally agreed to it and told him to go ahead and install it. $415 dollars later he was done doing nothing. I researched the surge protector and found out it was a waste of money and overpriced by $100...I asked him if a whole house surge protector would be more practical and he informed me that the AC needed its own surge protector. Basically this guy did nothing except sell me an overpriced surge protector.

All went extreamly well! They had a three man crew with two big trucks with all nessary parts and tools. They started at approx. 8:30am and finished with everything about 4:00pm (I even got to easedrop and ask questions of all the guys whenever I wished. It just doesn't get any better than this!) Note: All was done with the necessary permits, and I was able to get substancial "incentives" and "discounts" from P.U.D. and Lennox , thank you very much! The system came with a substancial guarantee or you can opt to pay total coverage for 10 years. P.P.S. All the G & S people I dealt with were very friendly and professional, especially my main consultant, Nathan.
Description of Work: Removed old heat pump system from house and exterior (old system was 22 yrs old / yeah Lennox!). Installed a totally new top-of-the-line Lennox system (furnace, outside unit, and a new pad for the outside unit, inside coil and all the refit hardware required, plus a new large screen wifi thermostat). And, they totally removed all signs of the old units. Charged system and tested everything. Also, got us up to speed on the operation of the new thermostat! They also did a follow-up after a couple days to see if all was good, and we had no more questions (in person).

He is a wonderful guy. I said why would I need locking caps and he said that the drug addicts steal the Freon...I never knew that. I also get free maintenance. They are really good. The office staff called me to say that it is time for my free maintenance and asked me if I need the guy to bring a filter which I paid for it. They make the appointment and they gave me a time. He always calls before he arrives so I know the approximate time before they come so I can still move out things in my garage. They are really helpful and tell me things that I may or may not be interested in. I appreciate that. I was amazed that the owner is out there doing a dirty work...I thought that that was pretty amazing. He is very involved with his company and I respect that a lot.
Description of Work: I signed up for the maintenance plan of G & S Heating Cooling Electrical so they come out every six months. They replace the filter in my furnace and make sure that it was okay. The guys that come, recommend things. One of the workers recommended that I put the lock in caps on my heat pump for the Freon which I did later on. He also recommended power surges after the initial installation.

Initial inspection/maintenance setup/diagnosis some issues. Once they came out, the service technician was great. Now, getting them to come out/schedule the appointment was a pain. I had to wait 3 1/2 weeks from my initial call, and then was rescheduled by the office twice from the original date. Now, I am battling to get them to come back out to finish (its been two weeks and I am still trying to get a response to have a confirmed date). The technicians are great, but the office lacks customer service for sure! Unfortunately, I am stuck with this company as no one else in my area handles geothermal units. :-(

G&S dispatched one person to do the repair, except that I learned he would not perform the repair, rather he would only work up a bid. but then he charged $97 for the visit. I can understand the cost just to work up a bid, but it seemed a bit steep. Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, I did not receive the bid. At the same time, a second professional was sent out to evaluate my house for whether my furnace could be replaced with a heat pump. He too did some inspecting, no charge, but again -- I didn't receive the bid. After a several calls to the office, I got a refund on my visit charge, and my feeling is that perhaps I got lost in the system. It's possible that they sent the bid in a timely fashion, but perhaps the email was wrong, or perhaps I inadvertently deleted it. Both guys that came out were very knowledgeable, courteous, professional. Somehow they must have crossed signals on getting me the bids.
Description of Work: I called the provider to reconnect clothes dryer duct under the house. Disconnected hose has been dumping moist air into crawlspace for some time.

Our former heat pump had been a problem from the day it was installed by a "Discount" installer. G&S correctly diagnosed the many problems and gave us the option of either fixing or simply replacing the unit, which we did. They communicated extremely well and ensured we understood all our options. There was never any pressure to do this or do that. The installation crew was very professional and completed a customized installation (had to match up to our existing propane furnace) that was very neat in appearance (in stark contrast to the former installation that looked like it was a practice job for a Jr. High shop class). They took the time to ensure that we fully understood how to operate the system. They even sent out a "follow up inspector" a few days after the installation was complete to very that all the details of the project had been well handled. Given the level and quality of the service and equipment, the price was competitive and fair to both parties. They are Highly Recommended!

I had these guys by to fix a problem with an outlet that kept popping my circuit breaker. Have to admit that the first guy they sent did a poor job and I was a little bit bummed. But then they followed up, found out that there was a problem, came back and fixed everything perfectly. Amazing service. Glad I found these guys. UPDATE: I had them back to install a new heat pump and furnace. Overall, I think the price was a bit high. It's hard to know with these heating guys, but let's just say that they are making PLENTY of money. That said, the system is great so far, installation was convenient, and I'd have them back again.

As for raising the breaker box to the proper level, they were sloppy in cutting the wall, and labelled the breakers wrong, turning off our hot water heater, rather than former wall heaters. As for the heating system, we are still learning how to use it, but it is amazing how it can heat the house as it does. It is supposed to keep the house cool in the summer too, but we have not experienced that yet.

I contacted G&S via their webform for an estimate, detailing what I needed, and specified "email" when it asked how I wanted to communicate. So I get an email later that day saying only to call them. Well, ok, whatever. I call, and discuss the particulars with 'Virginia" - interested in a heat pump, preferably geothermal if feasible and affordable. We quickly set up an appointment for the next day. A few hours later, I get an email message asking whether I knew what geothermal was. Um, yes. Well, then we need to reschedule the next week with a different rep who knows geothermal. You could have figured that out the first time, but fine. Appointment set for 3:30pm Tuesday. I take off work early and arrive home at 3:15pm, to two phone messages from the rep - one at 2:30pm calling to try to "confirm" our appointment, the second at 3pm announcing that because I didn't confirm in time he's canceling. W**?! I call him back immediately, he says he's not going to come now, that's their policy (which maybe should be mentioned at some point before then?) and that I can reschedule if I'd like. Needless to say, having just lost a half a work day for nothing, I did not. I emailed Virginia to ask what was going on (replying to the thread in which my appointment was fully confirmed), and of course she never responded. It's clear G&S thinks their reps' time is much more important than that of their customers.

We have used G & S since the year 2000 and have always been extremely pleased with their responsiveness, thoroughness and professionalism. The service professional that has been working on our furnace has patiently answered our many questions and gave us suggestions. The professional that did our duct work went above and beyond showing me areas in my vents where we were losing heat and gave me suggestions on how to fix the issue. This past year we signed up for the annual maintenance contract for the furnace and water heater because it will remind us to have it done and we receive some discounts on emergency repair/parts if needed. Their customer service department have always been very courteous as well and quick to respond to any concerns that I have had. I would highly recommend their services to anyone who asked.
