We recently purchased a new home and wanted to get the same large area rugs the previous owners had, which is the only reason we ended up using Hatloes. I was working with Karla, and after our first conversation I followed up via email, and in her return email she addressed the other person on the account, instead of the me who actually signed the email, simple mistake...but should have been telling. We ordered the rugs with the knowledge that it would take 4 weeks to get the carpet and have it cut and bound and then delivered. The week before it was suppose to be delivered, Karla called me and asked for $260 more because "the carpet is thick and it costs more to cut and bind it." I said okay, because at this point it's a week before our move and I'm already in over $3,000. I asked if we were still on track for a Monday delivery. And she assured me that we were. On Friday the 13th, I emailed her to see about delivery and even called Hatloes. I was told that she was out taking measurements for a client and was given her cellphone. I called and left a voicemail. She never responded to my email or my phone call. On the morning of the move I sent her another email, expressing my extreme frustration. She emailed back saying that she was on vacation...which isn't what was told to me on the phone the Friday before. She emailed later that day to tell me the carpets would be delivered the following Monday. So on Monday the 23rd, I emailed her asking if I was still in on for a delivery that day, because I didn't trust anything that I was told anymore, and I never heard from her. I called Hatloes and was transferred to the delivery guy. After him searching for my order, he asked how to say my last name...and he responded with "That's not how I would say it." He said he'd be leaving in about 1/2 an hour to bring the rugs. They showed up two hours later. I had to help arrange the rugs as well. I got an email from Karla on December 26th saying "I hope you love your rugs!" And then asking for the extra money for the cutting/binding. She never even addressed the delays or anything else. I'm so extremely frustrated...while the rugs are nice...this entire experience has left such a bitter taste in my mouth. I wouldn't ever recommend this company to anyone.

I dropped off a carpet runner that I wanted cut into specific sizes. Instead they cut it in half and bound the edges. It was not cut straight so the cut edge is angled and it was not cut to specifications. We never received a call when the shoddy work was completed and had to leave three separate messages before we even received a call back. The staff is rude and condescending and I will never recommend this store nor will I ever return there.

It took us quite a while to decide what we wanted as far as flooring. When we went to the store they were very helpful. They had different people help us at different times. It took us about 6 months for us to decide on what we wanted because they did not have the product we wanted at the time. We finally found what we wanted and it was not high pressure. We set up a date for installation and they were very flexible in working with us on that. It seemed like the price was kind of high. That was probably the only drawback. I feel like it was higher than what I expected. The installation was excellent and they did a really good job. It looks very good and we are very pleased with what we got. I think the quality was good. They were very responsive. I kind of feel I can get a better price for the product. There wasn't any prep work. My husband and I took out the carpeting and padding in advance and did prep work on the sub floor. We also vacuumed. All they had to do was to remove the carpet tack strips. They also had to put on some molding that we had bought. The owners never came back to look at it. That was kind of weird. I did have an estimate, but the lifetime warranty for the carpet is with the manufacturer. I really should have gotten more than one estimate.
Description of Work: We just had some flooring done in my living room/dining room area recently through Hatloe's Carpet One in Everett.
The main reason I picked Hatloes is I support small local companies even if it cost more and also I was told that they have their own employees do the work which is not true according to the installers that came to my home, they use contractors. My first contact with this company was in person at their store on May 6 working on a complete kitchen remodel, I needed flooring, counter tops, sink and fixtures, paint, tile back splash and I found the tile I had to have which also was the planning of the entire kitchen floor to ceiling around this one imported tile from Turkey. I was told that they could get it within a week don't worry, it is in the warehouse in Kent this was the first of the many times I inquired via email, phone and in person over a two and a half month period and was told the same thing. On that same day I selected the counter top and asked for a bid, got it quick. I then selected a couple different floor samples, thought about it for five days, showed a friend and said yes this is it. Then it started, not returning phone calls, phone calls being screened, not replying to emails, appointments changed, when I called to find out if the design person was still coming to see the kitchen and also measure the floors since she was late for the appointment I was told she was with another customer and the owner was coming to measure my floors. The owner of company comes hurrying into my home in his shorts apologizing for his appearance with his wife waiting out in the truck because they are on their way to a baseball game and the person that was suppose to measure was ill, but later she told me it was her son that was ill, neither of them knew I had called to see what was happening with the appointment. Then it was not until a month later June 4th that anyone checked on the flooring, just guess, not available it had been recalled and she was not sure why they even had a sample on the floor for customers to choose. I had to start all over again and I was not looking for easy tan vinyl floor that everybody has. I finally settled on something that would work, but not super great and it is on the east coast, 16 days to get to Seattle. The counter top and sink which I purchased from Hatloes gets installed by another company while waiting for the flooring. Then on July 9th the floor installers arrive they think the prep work is great and this will not take 3 or 4 hours, not anytime at all. They did not bring enough flooring, someone did not order enough or measured wrong and they want to put a seam in the middle of the kitchen from end to end of the high traffic area, my husband said no and now the installer is ticked off and really has an attitude. He has to wait several hours for more flooring to be delivered from Kent, does a very poor job and leaves. The next day someone comes to see the work and measure for the back splash she has a clipboard is writing stuff down and pointing out poor work that she says needs to be fixed and now we have to wait until Monday before the installer can come back and finish the job completely. He comes for about 30 minutes, does some trimming around the edges and tells my husband if we want anything else fixed with the floor we need to talk to the store, he has nothing else to fix. When I contacted the store they told me that the installer fixed everything. We were missing glue in most of the areas a foot away from the wall, the molding will not fit due to there is vinyl up the side of the cabinets, there are deep scratch marks from their trim knives on my brand new 16000.00 custom cabinets, the seams are splitting apart after 6 days, seams are crooked some cut high some cut low. They did send another contractor a couple days later to fix as much as he could, he was not able to fix it all. Then I get an email on July 15 stating that the tile I have been asking about since May 7th is not available until the end of August and beside that they do not have any installers available until then anyway. This email also suggested that I might want to select another tile that would be easier to get. As for selecting another tile at this point when the kitchen is complete with the exception of the back splash and they have known all along from the start of design that the entire kitchen has been focused on this selection of this one tile is just an absurd suggestion. My budget was 36000.00 and it all started with the one tile why in the world would they suggest such a stupid idea as just pick something else out. After giving them the benefit of the doubt several times all I did was get myself ripped off. I did send an email directly to Jim Hatloe just a few days ago and never heard a word, I have learned my lesson. I will never recommend Hatloes to anyone ever.
Description of Work: Vinyl floor and counter top only
This was the second time we used this company and this will be the last time. I ponder what flooring company doesn't do the base following a whole of upstairs hardwood install. Perhaps this is a Seattle thing. I don't have the warrenty info now that the hardwood is done... I don't have a cleaning kit. Literally this was a fire and forget job and not in a good way. Use of subs and when the discussion came to trim I was directed to look elsewhere. I had to contract with a separate contracter out of pocket to pay for trim. So here is the dilemma. Pre-work you have a walkthrough and you discuss the scope of the work with a flooring professional. You discuss potential problems, potential growth, and potential issues and sign the contract that is fair and clear and priced out. Yet when problems, that were discussed, occur then we were told it was our problem to look elsewhere. One worker the entire time.....one room was briefed at contractign process that furnture would remain and in the end that room was used as an excuse for why the job could not be finished. Bottom-line go eleswhere. Install looks great but disappointed with service and the extra cost that I had to pay fo rthe trim work.

Description of Work: Basically, this was an insurance job. The salesperson was nice, however getting emails back and forth was a PIA. After the install, we were missing a piece and I called a few times but it was never installed nor delivered. I may need to call them back as part of the hardwood floor is high at one place now. Overall, good products and good salestaff. The installers were ok.

If someone wants a company who can't be bothered to provide a phone contact or direct e-mail contact, and never follows thru with what they say they are going to do, then this just might be the company you want to hire. Never again will I ever try to contact this outfit.
Description of Work: Sent me an e-mail saying they would contact me shortly. So far, that hasn't ever happened, so I contacted a different provider on Angie's List who did a spectacular job.

The job was to carpet newly remodeled stairs and upstairs hall. The decorator came to the house (no extra charge) and helped me pick out a style to match my downstairs. They gave us a price for regular pad and premium pad. We went for the premium pad, which was not that much more. The stairs were french tuck and the the upstairs hall had two (2) turns in it. The patterned and textured carpet for the hall was cut with only one seam and it is invisible. The workmen were meticulous and there was not one mark on the newly installed and painted (white) 5" wood trim. We used them for a specialty tile in the entry last year and have received nothing but compliments from everyone who's seen it. We will use them again for our upstairs bedrooms next summer.

It was a disaster b/c they didnt show up on the day they scheduled it. We called them and they said they didn't schedule it right. They then tried to do a 2 day job in one day but couldn't do it. They then tried to charge us extra money on some of the vinyl. We ordered a 6 foot piece, they accidentally ordered a 12 foot, and tried to charge us for the extra. Some of the stuff came loose after the warranty expired and we hadn't even moved into the house yet and they tried to charged us.
