+ -1 moreI was impressed with how fast the whole process went, from the initial call to the installation. We needed a small double-paned bedroom window replaced after the outer pane had shattered during a windstorm. I called and left a message for one contractor on Angie’s list who never returned my call. Then I called and spoke to another Angie’s list contractor who agreed to come out to give us an estimate to replace our broken window, and he was a no-show. Having tried two service providers who had an A, I decided to try Goldfinch in spite of their B rating. Goldfinch came to the house on a Friday and said they would have the estimate to us that day. When I didn’t have it by Tuesday morning, I called and had it emailed to me. The estimate was at the very low end of what I’d expected, so that was great. I accepted the bid on Tuesday and paid the 50% down so they would order the glass. To my surprise, they were ready to install it that Friday. I scheduled an installation time for the following Monday between 10 and 11. The installer got here around 11:20 and was done in less than 20 minutes, even with cleaning up after himself. Yes, the installer was a few miniutes late, and I did have to follow up for a copy of the estimate. But they got the work done fast and well, and each person I had contact with was pleasant and professional. So I give them an A, and there is no question that I will look to them if I ever need more window work done. This was a great experience.

+ 1 moreThe estimator, Shane Green, showed up and mentioned he would provide a quote within a few days. Two weeks has passed, and despite several emails and voice messages, he is yet to get back to me. I have not heard ANYTHING from him yet. I don't understand why they wasted my time if they had no interest in doing the job. Just an upfront "we are not interested in this job" would have sufficed.
Description of Work: Unresponsive, wasting people's time: I called Goldfinch Brothers to get a quote for replacing 6 double-paned glass windows in my house's sunroom.

+ -1 moreGoldfinch came out on my schedule to give quote, ordered windows and set up convenient time for install. Installation crew forgot to put one screen back but otherwise were tidy, efficient and professional. Would call them again.

+ 0 moreThere was a mix-up on the screens each person I talked to from the office to the two men sent out, one measured the other replaced glass all had different ways it is done . Turns out we never got all the screens we needed although we did not pay for those we did not get. It ended up we had to drive out to Everett to pick them up if we wanted them. I suggested I could wait until someone was in my area again so they could deliver, but never happened. The biggest complaint was after all the windows were installed the installer told me I had Millgard windows which have a life time guarantee. We are the first owners, I guess on moving day some details of guarantees can get forgotten. Everything I had just paid for would have been free if I had called Millgard first. I think it would have been decent of the office or the man who came to measure to have suggested I check that out first. It was made clear this type of thing happens all the time. Both My husband & I are self employed and have never not informed our clients of such things. Just bad business integrity, something almost unheard of today ;*(

+ -1 moreIt did not go well at all - when the windows were delivered, they were late and the cabinets were due to be delivered. we had no place to store them and it was crucial to get the windows up. Under those circumstances, it was impossible to not accept them and even if we knew the salesman ordered the wrong windows, which we did not until they were installed, we still would have had to accept them. Every time I look out of a window I am looking at my gorgeous views through a screen - it just makes me angry all over again. And every time I have to pay someone to wash my windows because they are not the "easy-wash" type I expected, I will also again be upset at Goldfinch Brothers.
Description of Work: This provider ordered Marvin windows for our new house. I raved and was extremely excited about the hidden screens that roll into the window and come out only when needed as we have awesome views and gardens. This was mentioned several times during the discussions with Doug, their salesman at Goldfinch Bros. along with the fact that in a 2 story house we could wash windows with their unique system. When windows were installed, I was horrified to discover no roll into the window screens. Just regular screens. When I called to complain, I was told that those windows that I picked did not have that feature and I must have just misunderstood the order - the only thing I misunderstand was the knowledge and dedication to the customer of the salesman! It is nonexistent! When the county told us we had to have an egress window in a root cellar/wine cellar, we told the salesman and he ordered one (this was before they were delivered and the order sent in.) After the windows were installed, at the next inspection, we were told that the window is not a true egress window and would have to be replaced. We called Goldfinch Brothers and the salesman pretty much told use that this $325 window was our problem and he could not help- us. When I asked to speak to the owner, I was told he would call me. It has been over a month and owner has not bothered to call me. We gave them over $60,000 of our money and are pretty dissatisfied with their non-existent, un-caring service. The salesman did not listen to my requests for hidden incorporated screens, washable from the inside windows, and was not up to the codes of our county as to what an egress window is and when they are needed. The Marvin windows are perfect. But they do not have good people representing them and my next letter will be to them. Do not hire these people - they will not give you good service and do not care about their customers.

We selected Milgard Tuscany windows and love them. Goldfinch had the most competitive price of the 4 quotes we solicited. + -1 moreGoldfinch was very flexible to our schedule, courteous and timely. The pricing was good. We added a window to their worklist late in the project and they were very flexible. We'll have them come out and do the same when our other (aging) windows begin to fail.
Description of Work: Goldfinch replaced some aging windows where the seals had been compromised and fully replaced one other window.

The price they quoted me was a little high, but when I got the bill the price was lower. I have used them before and they've done a good job. They were very nice people.

+ -1 moreThe sales person who worked with me was extremely helpful in advising me how to save money ordering standard window sizes that would fit into my existing window areas for replacement, with only a small downsize framing adjustment, rather than order custom sizes that were only an inch larger but would be significantly more expensive (at least 10% more). The price was as good or better than the other window suppliers I contacted. The only hitch was that the order did not go in to Milgard on the date we expected so there was a delay of a couple of weeks. It did not significantly delay our repair project but it is important to follow up with Goldfinch on order timing. Overall I was very happy with the service and would use them again.

+ 0 moreKevin was outstanding. He was able to recapture the historical charm of our home. The old windows were replacements done sometime in the 1950's and were configured inappropriately. He came to the house numerous times to discuss window options before we made our final choice. The showroom sales associate had the brilliant idea of matching the French doors to the exterior back door. We couldn't be happier with the results.

+ -1 moreI went to their showrrom and no one was around. I heard people in the employees area behind closed doors. I rang the bell on their counter twice. No one came. I waited a few minutes and rang it twice again. No one came. Then two people came out who were talking to each other. They did not acknowledge me. Then they disappeared. A man soon came out, but went back in. I was standing right there. No one paid any attention to me, so I left. If they can't hear the counter bell, they should have a bell that rings in their back room or a light that flashes. And the staff that came out should have seen me and greeted me. It is inexcusable for a customer to be ignored!

+ -1 moreThey were unusual windows. We had talked to a number of people who said they couldn't do our windows because of the way they were. They were very old style, double paned wooden windows. We had to go through a great deal of trouble finding someone who could even do them. They did them and they couldn't quite exactly do them the same which they made very clear to us ahead of time. I don't believe you can necessarily tell the difference without going at them and looking. It is very close. They were very professional about picking up everything. One of the windows was broken and they immediately re-ordered another one. It had to be ordered, but they got here as soon as it came. They called me and came out that day or the next. They were very personable and professional. They were very responsive. They just took a long time. They had to find out where they could get windows like that. Once they had the windows, their punctuality was good.

+ 1 moreDealing with Goldfinch has been fantastic. They have been one of the best contractors to deal with and my wife and I argue over who gets to contact Goldfinch and who has to call someone else. Their prices for materials are usually the best and are often 20% below other vendors that we have checked with. Their installation is tremendous. We actually fired the first window installation crew because they were doing substandard work, but Goldfinch was able to fix the job and they also made suggestions that left me with far better window installations than I had imagined. Their installation charges are quite expensive, but the people that they sent to my house were not average window installers. The men were professional carpenters and former general contractors; they were actually more skilled tradesmen than carpenters that I had on site for other parts of the job. They were world-class at everything they did and they exceeded my expectations in every way. Unfortunately, I paid through the nose for the opportunity to have this installation crew at my house. Having fired a number of other subs throughout this remodel, I really can’t say enough good things about the quality of their work.
Description of Work: I purchased three large sliding doors from Goldfinch Bros. I also had them install those doors as well as 14 windows that I did not buy from them. I also purchased a skylight from them but my roofer is installing that.

It has been two months since the installation, and windows are great (well, OK, they don't wash themselves, but otherwise...) We will use them again.

+ -1 moreOurs is a remodeled 1920 Craftsman. One of the large double pane windows spontaneously cracked along about 18" - scary stuff. We called Goldfinch. Their booking agent left a lot to be desired customer service wise. When we were finally scheduled, as a result of our calling them again, we were their third and last stop of the day Monday. They called and canceled that appt. and rebooked for the next morning. The guys arrived on time and did a good job. We're happy with our experience over all and would recommend them because when all was said and done they did a good job.

+ -1 moreThe job went very smoothly from start to finish. Took one week to replace old, failing Weathervane wood windows. This was a complete window replacement which required removing some siding and the entire window casing. I had the siding replaced after this job because it was old LP siding. They cleaned up at the end of each work day. They were very professional and thorough. There was some lawn and shrub damage, but that's to be expected this time of year and with this type of job.
Description of Work: Full window replacement with Milgard Fiberglass Wood Clad windows. 25 windows in all of various sizes and styles.

+ -1 moreI called and left a message. It took 2 days before I received a return phone call. They scheduled to have someone come out the following Monday between 1pm and 4pm. I called at 4:30 to see if someone was still coming. Teresa said the tech had probably come and gone already. When I told her that I had been home the whole time, she then gave me the tech's cellphone number and told me to call and see where he was! I couldn't believe she wanted me to call him. She said she hadn't talked to him all day. I called him and got no answer. I left a message for him to let me know the status and then called Teresa back. She wasn't available, so I left another message. It is now the next day, late afternoon and I still have not heard back from anyone at Goldfinch.
Description of Work: I have a large, 6x4ft picture window that has failed. I want to have the glass replaced on it.

+ -1 moreEXPERIENCE WAS MOSTLY GOOD. THE INSTALLER OF THE SHOWER SURROUND DID A GREAT JOB PLUMBING THE GLASS AND CAULKING WITH CLEAR SILICONE SEALER. MANY GUESTS REMARK THAT THE UNIT LOOKS MARVELOUS. ISSUES WITH WINDOWS WERE RESOLVED PROFESSIONALLY.
