I had contacted Comcast several times by phone and had one home visit to try to find out why my computer internet service would go down without explanation. The phone contacts did not solve the problem and the first in-home technician pretended to find a solution but the problem continued. My second service technician was a real pro and found a very small broken wire; rewired the box and solved the problem permanently. I find that type of hit and miss service from Comcast to be a recurring problem.
Description of Work: Found a short in my internet wiring.

Dreadfully. See above.
Description of Work: At my request, Comcast cancelled the call forwarding option to Comcast if my phone was already in use. The blinking light that signifies a call on that backup line was NOT cancelled and has been blinking ever since, even though the phone verifies that I don't have the service. I called Comcast's technical division a second time. The man I spoke with told me he would have to call me back on my cell phone to do so (thus using my cell phone minutes). He did. He tried for perhaps 20 minutes to fix it and finally told me he had to refer it to another division and it could take up to 72 hours and someone would call me . No one ever called. That was approximately 9 days ago. Somebody dropped the ball.

We enjoyed the service Comcast provided, both the internet and phone. The personnel were always professional and courteous. The problem is rates kept increasing substantially. Their customer service provided us “special deals” to keep us on as customers (approx. $52/month for phone and internet). That then escalated to $72 and was going to be $75 by the end of the year. That is a chunk of change for basic internet and phone service, especially when compared to other countries. We switched to Frontier FIOS. I didn’t save a lot ($69/month) but it will stay at this price for 2 years without a contract. To top it all off, Comcast is now trying to purchase Time-Warner for 45 Billion dollars. I guess I know where my money went. It appears regulation for the consumers sake isn’t quite working in the telecom industry.

I just joined them and they are already sending me past due notices. They said the billing cycle had changed. They bill a month ahead. So three days into having Comcast I'm already late. And then because they bill a month ahead now that the billing came out again I am late again. I tried to get on the website and the website says that they sent me some pin which I hadn't received and I could re-submit to have the pin re-sent to me, but you can only get it a week later. So you can't see any details of the billing. So I couldn't even pay my bill. They never explained that they bill a month a head. I finally called and got a hold of them. I had Comcast years ago and I left them because the customer service was so horrible. The guy came to my door and I told told him here is my experience from before and he says can we just say we are sorry. You are right, you are right. He said but we changed. So I give them a chance. It gets to be two and a half hours late and I didn't get a call from anybody, I called them and the guy on the phone said I'm so sorry. They are always very differential to be apologizing up and down. I said I know you are sorry but the bottom line is I still haven't got a call and I can't hang out here. He said I don't know why they are not there but I'm sorry, I'm sorry. The guy comes an hour later and he apologized too. They gave me a $25 back. They are setting it all up and the guy was nice. He didn't give me any trouble but they were giving me a tutorial how to work the Xfininity and he doesn't even know how to work it. He gave me some apps but they weren't working. But I really like the Pandora app. He goes it will work itself out. I wouldn't let it go. Finally he starts making these calls and they find out after he gets past five people in Comcast who didn't know what they were talking about, we finally get a hold of this guy and he said it's easy. You guys have to go on line and get it set up first and then it works. The guy said I didn't even know that. He said he couldn't get it to work in his home, now he knows. They were embarrassing their own company. They aren't even trained properly on their own equipment. It took them a long time to set it up. Because the signal wasn't working properly he put these signal boosters that I have to keep permanently plugged in. So I am using all these outlets that I don't have access to because they have to use these signal boosters. They were not trouble shooting what the problem was. That was just frustrating. Then I get a past due notice and I didn't even have the service for a month. They say you are right, you are right, but they still haven't improved.

After I received notice from Comcast of the increasing costs for the new year, I had to call customer service to see what I could do. When I initially explained my situation, the representative asked if I wanted to be able to keep my current services for the next year at $159 for the next 12 months. I was pleasantly surprised and happy that this could happen, feeling that this was an amount I could afford. A week or two later, I checked my account online for the amount of the new bill and learned that the $159 would be the basic cost and with the normal and quot;add-onsand quot; etc, the full monthly price would be almost the same amount I had been paying -- well over $200, which I could no longer afford. I called customer service a 2nd time and a different representative was of no help. Told her I would turn in my DVR's and really cut down services. I decided to take them into the nearest service center, where I waited for over an hour to get help. I explained my situation to this rep. He was very nice and confirmed that with the extras my new lower monthly service would total $159 per month including taxes, etc. I have no idea how they figured my bill, which again turned out to be $230 (partial month fees). My latest bill, due March 1st is now $104? ? ? I do not understand how these charges were figured out and am curious as to what the April 1st bill will be. I wish I had another alternative for a TV, internet and phone service bundle, but our HOA rules do not allow for other types of service, such as a dish hanging off the building. I continue to be very frustrated with Comcast and the continuing rising costs. What next? I will say that the technician who came out to connect my new equipment was very nice and as helpful as he could be under the circumstances.
Description of Work: After having Comcast's services since around the 1980's with the 2nd highest level of service, I had to lower my monthly costs due to retiring, not being able to maintain the same level of service. Then services were increased from $231 to $264 per month and eventually had to downsize from two DVR's to HD boxes. When I couldn't get one of the boxes to come online after several requests to customer service, they had to send out a technician. The technician was very knowledgable and helpful. The townhouse had been built and set up for cable in 1999. He found much that needed tweaking to allow my system to work.

Internet was great! Introductory price was excellent. Once you get past the introductory period, you're out of luck. Phone billing support was comical! The support tech had no concept of current pricing, offered me a "special" deal paying $20 more a month than I already was. When I called to cancel, the cancellation tech said, "I don't blame you for leaving." It is just not worth it.

I'm still waiting for a repair man.
Description of Work: I have two cable boxes that don't work. I called Comcast and told the rep. He tried to force me through some decision tree to try to fix it myself. I told him I wasn't near the cable box so I just wanted a technician. He told me they couldn't do that. So sorry. Finally he said he would schedule an appointment between 9 and 10 this morning but no one came. I called Comcast and was told he never ordered a technician visit. He was very insulting. He kept calling me ma'm after I told him I am a male. He kept saying "It will cost you 50 bucks, it will cost you 50 bucks." He could not speak English well nor could he understand English. When I asked him where he was he said in Asia. Comcast is a monopoly and I would switch in a New York minute if I could because of poor customer service. Additionally, if I had a choice I wouldn't deal with a company that ships jobs for Americans overseas.

I don't like that their internet access is unreliable and super slow in the afternoons and often our connection just dies. It's particularly bad on Friday afternoon...I don't think their bandwidth can handle the amount of people they have. Their customer service is lousy...it's a giant maze. They're a monopoly - they don't have to provide good service. I think the technicians who come out and run the cables and install the equipment are pretty good...I think they're equally aggravated with the company they work for.

Comcast is a monopoly and it comes with all the faults that implies. The service element has improved a bit, but we still call about once a month because of a technical problem that usually occurs at an inopportune time. Then we have long waits and are often told that there are outages that will be fixed "real soon now." When I compare what we get with what others get through FIOS or other systems, it's really frustrating. One of the most aggravating aspects is the longer you stay with Comcast, the more it costs you. Every few months your 'special rate' ends and you have to call and renegotiate. We often see fliers offering great rates for the same service we receive. When we ask Comcast for the same rates, we are told those are 'promotional rates' reserved for new customers, not loyal customers who have stayed with them more than 20 years. It's insulting. It's like buying rugs in a middle eastern souk. Comcast claims to want to keep loyal customers, but recently their "Retention" group basically made it clear to us that we have been with them so long that we have run through the 'promotional' offerings. If we want good deals, we will have to sign up for Direct TV or Dish's promotional deals. So we are investigating their offerings now, as are several of our friends who are long term customers. Both Dish and Direct TV offer bundles with phone, TV and cable. At this point, if FIOS or another cable service were available we would switch.
Description of Work: Comcast is the sole cable provider in my area (Mercer Island). They over charge compared to areas that have competitive options, so we have tried various ways to keep our overall costs down which seems to imply agreeing to bundle in an increasing number of services: internet, TV and finally phone. We were the 7th house in our community to sign up for cable based internet over 20 years ago. One thing we have learned is that the longer you stay with Comcast the more you will pay. Last month my bill went up 30% with no change in service.
