I found a company who could convert it instead of installing a new tub. They don’t have to remove the tub; if you have a fiberglass tub they cut a piece out of it and put in an insert. They called me and a nice young man came out. It took him about six hours to do what was previously said would take 3 hours. He didn’t caulk and he left a mess; I ended up contacting the owner and he said he would come over to my house and look at the work and get it straightened out. He said he would be there by 10:30am even though he drove from about 300 miles away. He arrived on time and we talked. He ripped the caulk off and cleaned up all the dirt that was left from the shower door frame. He got everything cleaned up and to the way it should be. I can step into my shower now and it’s no higher than the step in tubs. You can also convert your tub into a bathtub that doesn't leak with a stainless steel door that is included in the price. He also gave me a $50 discount because of the initial poor installation. They can do this with any kind of tub!
