We had a home warranty and the company sent us to Osborne Appliance. The technician came to the house to look at the range. We couldn't find a model number and he said the unit should have been demolished. The unit came with the house. He said he'd order the parts and come back. I paid $50 for the visit (the warranty co. pays the rest). I called to schedule the second appointment. I said I was trying to work around my baby's nap schedule. She's not a good sleeper. The scheduler said, "oh, I taught my babies to sleep through everything." Oh, nice. I really needed that. For the second appointment I expected them between 2 and 4. Apparently they had 4-6 scheduled. He showed up at 6:10. Dinner was under way and he was unable to do the work. The third appointment he worked on the range. When he showed me the finished work, it was EXACTLY the same. Exactly. The same grinding knob and the sputtering on low heat. I tried to stay professional but he got all nasty and said that I was lucky he got the warranty company to fix anything. What? He didn't fix anything. If he'd just told me that he couldn't do the repair after that first visit, then it would have saved us all a lot of time, frustration and money. It was the worst experience I've ever had with a home repair.
Description of Work: Our gas range had a knob that ground metal against metal when turned and another burner that sputtered and went out on low heat. Work was done but the problems were not fixed.

I would never do business with Osborne Appliance again. I want others out to know what happened so that they do not experience what I did. All I wanted was a part for my stove hood and, over the course of almost six months, I literally spent hours on the telephone trying to resolve this. Instead, I was put on hold, hung up on, had the owner talk to me in a demeaning way, didn't have emails answered, and all because the owner was unwilling to rectify the situation. At the very end, he sent me a $20 check to "pacify" me hoping I would disappear and "not bother him again." I spent $40 total for the part and shipping that wrong part back to their company twice. It is hard for me to comprehend why a business owner would make such an issue over the $20 he still owes me, when it will reflect terribly on his future business.
Description of Work: (4/08): I needed to replace a part for my stove hood. Went online, contacted Osborne Appliance, gave them the model and serial number of part. Received the part within a week; wrong size. Contacted company and asked for correct part. Told to return part to them. (5/08): Several weeks went by, and I finally received part. Again it was the wrong size (exactly the same part which was sent the first time; too large for my stove hood). When I called the store, owner was rude and said I should not have been sent the wrong part the second time. Said I had ordered the wrong part. Told him that was not true, that I went on another website, gave them the same model and serial number, and the correct part was displayed (and it was the correct size!) I told him that since I was sent the wrong part twice, I would like to be reimbursed for the part and the shipping to send it back to them twice. He was very unprofessional and rude, and he hung up on me. Over the next two months, I called the owner once or twice a month, asking for a refund. He said he would get back to me and never did. Finally, (9/08) I called, was put on hold for 10 minutes while he "was on another call" and then he never came to the phone. The person on the phone said they had no record of my original order. I was told to send a copy of the canceled check, which I did, via email with a pdf of check. Asked in the email if owner would kindly reimburse me. Never heard back. 10/08, called again. Was told that a check was mailed and returned to them. (They had incorrectly written my address, although it clearly was on the copy of the canceled check I had sent them). It was sent again, and it was for $20, although the part was about $30 and I had spent at least $10 shipping the wrong part back to them. (10/08) Phoned the owner again and asked him why he sent only $20 and he said he wanted to be done with the whole mess. I told him I expected to be reimbursed for the remaining amount ($20) and he took my address, again. When I did not hear back within another week, I emailed him and said that if I did not have the remaining amount reimbursed to me, I would contact Angie's List and the BBB. Never heard back.
