This job did not go well. The installer came out in a timely manner on August 31, 2020, and took quite some time to install the new lock. When she left, we saw that she had installed a cheaper lock than we requested (we asked for a Baldwin lock to match the rest of the house). The new lock works the exact opposite of all our other locks (locking in the vertical position rather than the horizontal position). I called the technician right away to ask for a different lock (Baldwin, which is listed on their webpage as one of their products) and she replied that she didn't have any other locks. I asked her to contact her supervisor about coming back out to change to a Baldwin lock. I never heard back from her, and when I tried calling her number again the next day, there was no answer. There was no reply to my voicemail for her to call me. I tried calling the number that was on my receipt, and again there was no answer. I next tried the main number for Edmonds Locksmith in Edmonds, asking for someone to handle this problem and send out a new technician with the correct Baldwin lock. The person on the phone (who is listed in Edmonds, but is only an answering service) could not help me. I called this person back many times over the next week asking for someone in charge, and was given no help. In fact, that person hung up on me 2-3 times. I asked for the owner/supervisor/manager of Edmonds Locksmith (Harry Hinze) and he never returned my call. Over a long period of time (September and into October) I periodically called the main number and asked for Harry Hinze to return my call, with no results. There is also an email address on their webpage that I used to write to the "owner" about needing a replacement lock, and I never received a response from that email. We now are facing the issue of finding a new locksmith company in order to have a correct lock installed. We already paid Edmonds Locksmith $259 for the job that wasn't done to our satisfaction. On another note, the webpage for Edmonds Locksmith makes it appear as though this is a local company (which is what we were trying to find) -- however, only their answering person is in Edmonds and there is no office or physical place for me to go to talk to someone. I am very displeased with the work from this company and with their very poor customer service. I would not recommend them.

Liam (from Luthuania), the locksmith, never arrived when originally scheduled...kept calling to say he'd be late...hours later he eventually called and suggested I get another locksmith. He called back later that day, apologized on behalf of his company for not showing up and suggested we reschedule the work at a date & time convenient to me and he would charge half price. He showed up the next day & took twice as much time to complete the work. I've had locks rekeyed in the past so I know what's involved & how much time it should take. In the process of rekeying the front door brass lock he permanently scratched the surface of the lock. Throughout his 1 1/2 hour work time he continuously kept getting phone calls that interrupted his work & distracted him. Before starting the job, I asked how much it would cost. He gave a verbal estimate & did not provide a written one. It was my understanding that the work would cost approximately $250. When I asked if this included the half price he told me the day before that he would charge, he answered in the affirmative. When he wrote up the invoice the total was $400. When I disputed this amount he said that was what he had to charge. He would not take a check & insisted on either a debit or credit card. When I asked to speak with a company representative, he had me speak with a woman who said she would have the manager call me & that their website said they do not accept checks (which I have since noticed does not). I have yet to hear from a company manager. Whatever you do, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. When you google "locksmiths edmonds wa" their company website (edmondswalocksmith.com) and telephone number (4252423716) will appear. This compnay/website is a rip off.
Description of Work: Rekeyed 5 locks (so one key works in all locks), provided 4 new keys, replaced one lock, fixed one lock & replaced small cabinet-style lock (which I provided).
