They came, were personable, got the work done fast and thoughtfully. My older door now runs smoothly with new springs and is tuned up for $140+tax. Great experience!

It went perfectly for me. They had the best price for replacing a double-spring on a double-wide garage door. And the service was great. He even fixed a bad ball-bearing wheel and fixed the opener which had ripped off of the door that I didn't notice and he did it for barely any extra cost, I think it was only an extra $15 for the parts. Total price with tax was $209! And now my garage door is quieter than it has been ever and I was the original owner of the house built in 2003. I was amazed at how quiet it is now. Don't mess with any company that tries to quote you at the job-site and won't give you a quote over the phone or internet/email. They'll just come over and try and gauge you, my neighbor had the exact same issue and someone came and quoted her $1300 and her dad talked the guy down to $600. Even $600 is ridiculous, $300 is kinda reasonable. The $209 I paid was just amazing and that was *incuding* the other repairs done, not just replacing the spring. I believe I was originally quoted $180 for just the springs. Don't mind the gruff voice on the other end of the phone, he doesn't use a call center so you're talking to the guy that will fix your door. He's extremely nice in person. I couldn't be happier with the results and I will hire him again in a heartbeat when I need it.

Excellent. He came out the same day. In addition to replacing both springs, he checked that everything was tight. Lubed everything and replaced two rollers. Much quieter now!

It went great. I called and Mike was able to come out the same day to look at what the problem might be. He discovered a broken torsion spring on the one door I called about. He had one in his truck and so he was able to do the job right then and there. In addition I had him tune up both doors and they are working smoothly once again. I couldn't have been more pleased and the price was a bargain to me as I thought I was looking at a new opener and new doors. I will be replacing both of my older Sears Craftsman door openers somewhere in the near future as they are older models and the remotes do not work well and the system can not be integrated with my new truck. When I do, I will definitely go with Barron for the job! Thanks guys!!!

The experience was great. They were easy to get in touch with via phone. They were timely, professional and cordial. I asked for a quote over the phone before he even ordered the doors and was happy to find out that the actual price was lower than his quote.

The spring replacement was quick and smooth. He knew exactly what he was doing. He even tuned up both garage doors, lubricating the rollers and tightening all the bolts. For years I?ve been replacing the springs and cables myself, and have always had one door with a 2? gap underneath. He was able to adjust it so we no longer have that space there.

What a pleasure to work with such a professional! Jim Barron promptly returned my initial phone call and seemed ready to come over right away if my car was stuck inside the garage (luckily I had moved it out when the door started acting up). When he knew he was going to be late for my appointment, he called to alert me, then arrived promptly at the new time. He and Mike quickly and efficiently took care of my broken garage door - about 1/2 hour or less. Having researched prices, I felt he offered the best price. They tested everything and ensured all worked properly. I highly recommend them! I will definitely use them again if I need anything else related to garage doors.

This was the second time we've hired Barron to repair our garage door and just like in 2012 we're very happy with the results. We were relieved to get a same-day appointment and Jim arrived at the time promised. He had a great 'can-do' attitude and the repair went smoothly.

Nothing makes you duck like the sound of a garage door spring breaking! No injuries... but then I realized my car is trapped inside! I called Barron Garage Doors at 9AM and explained my problem. After answering a couple questions I was given a quote over the phone and an appointment that same day at 12:30. The technician was right on time, checked and verified the problem, and appeared very proficient and efficient. He weighed the door, changed the springs, checked and lubricated all the moving parts as well as the tracks, and ran the opener several times to check/adjust everything. He was done in about 30 minutes and the charge was exactly as quoted. I asked if I should have my other door done and there was no up-sell pressure at all. Great honest service at a very competitive price!

We arrived home on the day after labor day to find a garage door spring had broken preventing the garage door from opening. Looking through Angie's List I called Barron Garage Doors. I was amazed that the owner answered the telephone on a holiday. I was even more surprised when he asked if I was home. When I responded that I was he said he would be out in 90 minutes. Upon arrival he was excellent. Very friendly and experiened. He replaced the defective springs, lubricated the door, tightened all the fittings, etc. The service charges were very reasonable. The work was impeccable! I would highly recommend Barron Garage Doors!

I called because my garage door opener had stopped working completely. I needed it fixed and didn't know why it was broken. On the phone I was asked multiple questions about what was broken. I had no idea. Then I was told to plug in a hair dryer to see if the plug worked (it did as I had already said), then told to check the circuit switch inside the unit which after climbing on a ladder I couldn't find, and then told to call back when I had tested it some more. I didn't call back. If I knew what was wrong and knew what to do, I wouldn't have called. It was intensely frustrating to be told that most calls like this just needed the circuit reset. Might be true but if I had known what to do I wouldn't have needed to call. It was the end of the day and I think he just didn't want to be bothered. It was also the end of my day and I just wanted to arrange to have someone fix the d*** thing.

I called in the morning and the father came to my house the same afternoon. Since I had replaced a spring before, I understood the process. Not only did he replace the springs, he spent a good amount of time fine tuning and balancing the door. He adjusted some of the rollers because he could hear the wind rattling the top of the door. He remounted an aluminum rail at the bottom of the door because several of the screws were stripped. He noticed that the door was not rolling completely up so he adjusted my electric garage door opener so that it would roll up a few more inches. It were the little things that he did that were the most meaningful to me. I honestly felt as if he were a good family friend that wanted to do the job the right way (as if it were his own garage door). I typically don't take the time to write online review. However, I feel that I owe it to Barron Garage Doors to tell others about my experience in hopes that they may one day need to call upon an honest hardworking company like theirs.
Description of Work: I attempt to perform home repairs whenever possible primarily for the learning experience. With so many resources online, it's easy to research DIY sites, view YouTube videos, and shop for competitive parts. The learning experience I get along with the cost savings are enough to offset the less-than-professional outcome. The other day, one of the torsion springs on my garage door broke. I was prepared to purchase a pair of replacement springs and replace them myself. I had done this once before and it's not dangerous as long as you carefully follow a good set of instructions. The cost to purchase the replacement springs would be approximately $150 (online price + UPS Ground) and I would expect it to take me 2 hours. The parts online would have taken 5-7 days to receive. Before I ordered, I thought I would check the cost to repair using a service company. I found Barron during my online research and came across their website. The one-page site was very simple but their message was profound. I got the sense that the father and son business was very honest, very affordable, and took a great deal of pride in doing great work.

Called on a Thursday evening expecting to get voicemail , but got a person on the phone and they were able to perform service at requested time on Friday afternoon. Arrived within minutes of requested time and immediately went to work. When work was completed, I was so impressed I paid extra $40. These guys deserve more money than they are asking. $100 in parts, two persons, 35 minutes of fast-paced no-nonense work and at least 20 minutes travel time each way. When done they went over the door, tightening bolts, lubricating, adjusting, and giving me maintenance tips and did not try to sell me anything. Very, very, highly recommended.
Description of Work: Broke one torsion spring, and decided I needed both replaced. Looked on Angies list and studied reviews an prices for services. Noticed most charged approx $250 for service, but saw in many reviews that price creeped up based on other "discoveries" or services added. Surprised to see highly rated Barron with a non-nonsense web site,low-overhead father and son business, advertising $150 for service. Decision made.

It went very well: I called on New Year's Day in the evening expecting to get voicemail. Jim Barron answered and set up an appointment for the following morning. He came out a few minutes late, but was done in about 1/2 hour. He likes to chat and likes to push his political views, but was very friendly and affordable.
Description of Work: The springs in my garage door ceased functioning during cold weather. It quit working on New Year's Day. He tightened the springs, tightened the bolts holding the door, adjusted the track which was rubbing against the door frame (he pointed out that it was bent, and had probably been hit before), lubricated all over, and adjusted the garage door opener mechanism. The door started working again after he tuned it up.

I want to state up front that I have no relationship to this company other than the services they've provided. That said, given the quality of some service providers these days, I cannot sing the level of Barron's service highly enough. If I could give them an A+++ I would. These folks, primarily a family business, are terrific. I used them in July (see the 7/2/2012 report), recommended them to a neighbor who used them, and again used them this month to install a garage door opener. They are fast (both times they were able to respond in one business day, note that this may not always be possible), courteous, efficient, knowledgeable and VERY well priced. Not only have I already recommended Barron to one friend, this last time I asked for extra business cards to give to other friends. I don't think you can go wrong with these people.
Description of Work: needed to have an opener installed on the second door. I used Barron previously (see the 7/2/2012 report) to fix a spring. To make a long story short, they were out the next business day and quickly, expertly and inexpensively installed my new opener. I'll put more in the “How did it go overall?” as that's what appears in the abbreviated results.

Called us back the very same day we left a mesage (on a Sunday no less) about a broken spring on our garage door. Made an apptmt for the very next day. He was on time and very quick. While he was out, he also serviced the hinges on the door and fixed a short on the interior opener switch wired to the wall at no additional charge. I would definitely use him again.

I called Jim on a Monday to replace my broken spring, and his schedule was full (a good sign), but he was able to fix it the next day, Tuesday. His son arrived to do the job, and was very professional, and done in about 35 minutes! He also tightened up a very loose chain, and checked the integrity of everything. When he was done, he said the total would be $140 plus tax, which was right around the estimate Jim had quoted...however, I have to tell everyone about a letter I received 10 days later; Jim sent me a handwritten note, saying his son had given me the wrong price - it should have been $130, and he enclosed $11 cash as a refund! This is something like a miracle nowadays - to find someone so honest! I told both of my sons about it, and they were also impressed that someone in this day and age would do that. THANK YOU Jim for your integrity and honesty!! Obviously, I HIGHLY recommend Barron Garage Doors (they did a great job)!!!
Description of Work: I had a single spring go out on my left garage door. Barron came out to replace the spring. Using a scale to measure the weight of the door, they finished the job in under 35 minutes...quick and professional. He also adjusted the chain and checked everything else.
