Absolutely wonderful experience. Josh was great when he dropped off the sheep explaining everything to us. We had a backyard that had overgrown with blackberries and tall grass. He dropped off 13 sheep and they were done in a week. So sad to see them go as we've gotten used to feeding them and listening to them talk. the yard is striped clean and ready for us to landscape. the cost was 1/3 of the quote from a landscaper. (granted they would have done more "landscaping" but the sheep were much cuter). I recommend everyone try the experience if you're an animal lover and hate yard work. also wanted to mention that we live in a nice housing community cul d sac and were a little concerned about neighbors being irritated, come to find out, they all loved it too! they will eat EVERYTHING, even the trees so make sure you want it all gone. there was a little left over clearing to be done of dead grass they didn't seem to like and the stalks from the blackberries, but not much at all. 1/2 hour of work compared to the days it would have taken.

One thing to be aware of is that demand seems to be outstripping supply for this service. Their website requests patience in scheduling estimates/jobs and you do need that. However if you can be patient and flexible in getting on their calendar the results are definitely worth it. Also be aware that you are dealing with creatures that have a mind and appetites of their own so you get a window of several days for when they may arrive not a specific appointment. We had a herd of goats and a few sheep in from The Goat Lady to clear brush from about a half acre on our property. They cleared many years of Blackberry and ivy growth. They ate the leaves off the brush and the smaller shoots. They also ate ivy that was growing on the trees and ivy on the hills. Basically any plant was fair game. They did seem less enthused by the sword ferns which was fine by me. They also thought the bark on the saplings and some small trees was tasty. If this had been a back yard the trees could have been protected but since we were clearing we did not bother. The goats and sheep stayed about a week and Josh checked on them daily. He was very pleasant to deal with and patiently answered my questions even though we only had a small job. The herd was very quiet just an occasional maa. One of the sheep had a baby while they were here and Josh let me hold it. It was stinking adorable! Once the goats and sheep are done the stalks remain to be cleared but now we can tell what is in the area which is a lot of downed trees and holes. It was tough terrain and I had not actually been able to walk through it before. It is so much easier to work on now that we can see what is actually in there.
Description of Work: Goat and sheep rental for brush clearing. Josh brought the animals, hacked through our blackberry bushes that were up to 7 feet tall to put in the temporary fence and came to check on them daily.

Good experience. He brought and set up own electric fence to keep animals contained. Routinely checked on progress. The herd of goats cheered up everyone in the neighborhood while they were here.

The goats are tethered because our area is unfenced. They need to be disentagled from sticks, each other, ... every few hours or they bleat and you will feel sorry for them. They don't eat woody stuff or dead blackberry vines. The goats haven't eaten holly or ivy as readily as blackberry vines. They are slower than I expected. They took an overwhelming task and made it manageable - we can now penetrate the thicket. Everyone in the household likes them and enjoys watching them.
Description of Work: The Goat Lady dropped off two goats that ate blackberry vines for 3 weeks. The goats are gentle and easy to handle, quiet and hardy.
