Gary was the handyman that did my work. He was on time and had the necessary tools. The slide-out shelving install I needed done was challenging due to the confined, deep space they needed to go in. He figured out how to get it done and asked my approval after each shelf. He was great to work with and I will definitely hire again.

Carpenter Company called me right away, as soon as I'd requested someone to help us re-route our dryer vent from the basement to the garage and out through the wall to the outside. Fast service - Gary assessed the needed repairs to the deck, gave me a quote within hours and it was done by noon the next day.. thatâ s what I wanted. He also helped me make a plan for a new deck in 2 years.

Gary built a deck that started to fall apart after less than 60 days!!!! According to Gary it was all the Suns fault. He told me he was getting a permit and when I call Stevens County there is NO permit! I tried asking him if he had a permit and he referred me to the owner AKA his wife. When he came back to look at my deck he asked me what do you want me to do and How do you propose I fix it He is the contractor not me! The only thing that I could think of due to cracks in the wood, the railing on the deck starting to lean inward and the staircase railing was turning outwards was structural tension due to how he built it. Then his fix was more screws and spacers that look like tissue stuck in the wood slats. Then he lifted up the entire staircase very intensely and shook it and said there is no tension here. And did the same with the railing on the deck that was starting to lean in and shook it in an intense way saying see there is not tension I had to say Stop it, Stop it you are making it worse several times on both the stairway and railing until he stopped. These actions made me feel instantly intimidated but thank goodness my next door neighbors were out in their yard incase this escalated. He kept saying over and over thru out his visit. so I can not make you happy? Do you want me to leave? It felt creepy and rehearsed like he was trying to bait me to say Yes so that he would have an excuse not to fix his work. I never said Yes! Then the last part of the time he was here I had my sister on the phone with a bluetooth and he called me out on the deck to show me how the top of the rail would not lay straight and he was shaking that back and forth and saying well you can either have the top uneven or the side uneven...at this point I just said just do what is safe. He was talking with an intensity and becoming bullish and intimidating. My sister heard his tone and was saying in my ear Oh my God tell him to leave and call the police I told him I just want the deck safe and not twisting and turning! At that point I just told him to do what he was going to do to try and fix his poor workmanship and went inside. He finished up putting more nails and screws in and earlier had to fix the wedge under the stairway too that had been displaced when he picked up the stairway, shook it and plopped it back down on the cement. It is still not in the same place and I had NO idea the staircase could even be lifted up!!!! So since he did not get a permit I now have to apply for one and have an actual FORMAL INSPECTION done on my Deck for safety! I was on the phone with Home Advisor for 1 hour 7/28/20 filing a complaint against him! He is no 5 star rating! He got a 1/2 star (worst you can give) from me! So now since he does not want to make this right and refund me my money so I can have this re-built correctly by another contractor I will be filing a complaint on his bond, 3 strikes and NO MORE LICENSE for Gary Carpenter, interviewing with Home Advisor which there is a potential he will no longer be on there, I am calling L and I, I will be calling the News Stations to get the word out so NO other person has to go thru what I am going thru! I even read a review that he wronged a lady with Cancer!!! As a 20+ year Registered Nurse this just makes me sick to my stomach! So since he wants to charge me $75/hr with any communication I will proceed forward! What a shame!!! Gary will fool you upon meeting him!!! BEWARE AND RUN FROM HIM AS FAST AS YOU CAN!!!!!!! Please contact Home Advisor if you have any contact with him and he is trying to convince you that you need a new deck ASAP because your deck may fall down at any second! Gary was very prompt at answering the phone and scheduling an appointment to install new doors. On the initial appointment, it seemed like he was finding every little fault with my house that he could. My house is far from perfect, but it felt like his first visit was more of a home inspection than an estimate to install doors. I appreciate him making me aware of these issues, but it came across like he wanted more business by addressing the repairs he outlined. Gary ran into problems with the two doors, but he was able to make it work given the situation. The price was very expensive for the work that was done. With everything considered, I will take my business elsewhere with future projects.

Had a new door installed and 3 new doors handles installed. Did not have caulked when he installed the door. So, charged me another visit plus. Also, when he left I noticed the front door knob was jiggly. He had to come back out and fix it the same day. When he came he did not have paper towels or rags to clean up after himself. So, I supplied them. He got caulk on my front door Matt. I will have to get another. He was nice, but not as prepared as I think he should be.

Gary did a super job. Quick, efficient, and dependable. I recommend him to anyone needing deck, fencing, or any wood work.
