Mike was great he takes pride in his work and is very experienced ,he put down plywood to protect the grass from from the excavator and did a good job cleaning up when he was done.

Outstanding work. I had a very difficult concrete removal job underneath a deck, and Mike took care of it expertly. Very thorough and very conscientious. He took extra care so as not to damage my deck, or the surrounding concrete. Showed up right at 8:00am, and worked hard all day until the job was done. His estimate was right about what I was expecting, he was easy to work with, and easy to schedule. Would absolutely recommend.

I've worked in the construction trades for close to 40 years and when I come across a subcontractor like Mike/Specialty Services I put him on my favorites list in ink. He is highly skilled, diligent, reliable, efficient, and knowledgeable. He's concerned about keeping your costs down. He has all the proper equipment to handle a variety of projects - big and small. He's an owner-operator, so he's the one you talk to about the job, the cost, and he's the one who does the work and makes sure you're happy with it. No question that he'll be my first call when I need an excavator in the future.

When we called Mike we were desperate. We have a low producing well and to compensate, built a system of reservoir tanks to be filled around the clock intermittently to provide us with a constant supply of water. They are situated up on the land above the house (we built on a steep hillside) to provide gravity drainage. For the prior 12 days before we called Mike we had been without water in the house. We have two adult disabled children in wheelchairs, so packing up and heading to a motel was not an option. We suddenly lost all water. We knew we had a leak because the well was still pumping out water but none of it was reaching the house . We called several providers to help us solve the problem without success. Thinking we needed help as it was proving too much to dig by hand, we contacted Mike by phone, after finding him on Angie's List. He asked intelligent questions and was professional about assessing our need. He came out the next day, arrived on time, and got to work immediately, which was difficult as he had to maneuver his backhoe up the hillside before he could start digging. It turned out that that was not the answer as the leak was not discovered where we thought it was. We were quite discouraged. Would we have to replace all of the piping 300 feet up to the tanks and then back to the house? Mike could have left as he fulfilled his contract and did exactly what he said he would do. But he stayed and was reassuring and diligent about following the waterlines to and from the tanks. He kept looking for over an hour exploring every possibility, until he found a leaking valve in our sprinkler system down in the manhole at the side of the house. No one had even thought about the sprinklers as the source. What a great detective! He went above and beyond our expectations, both as a professional and a person. And he did not charge us one penny more than his quote. (We did give him a bonus though for extraordinary service.) We can't say enough about how helpful, persistent and thorough he was. We are so thankful we called him and give him our highest recommendation.

Mike was great to work with. His prices were slightly lower than the other bids that I got, but what really impressed me was the way the way he conducted himself. Mike was very thorough and professional and did an excellent job on the stumps, and on the clean-up. I would recommend/use Specialty Services again without thinking twice about it.

Specialty services was outstanding. They are always on time, professional, and he is an earth moving guy with a college degree. He is also very friendly and honest! He has come in the past and dug up snow before.
