THIS WAS THE WORST BUSINESS EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE! The business owner, Jason Alvarado, was extremely unprofessional. I lost over a month of work time, and because I needed the documents that were on the computer in order to do my job, I also lost out on at least $800 of income. Jason seemed completely unconcerned, and even casually admitted that he never really knew what he was doing, that it was never much of a priority for him, and that he has "a big head". He acted like I (the customer) was somehow inconveniencing him by expecting him to perform a job he had willingly accepted. He was generally disrespectful. He did a lot smirking and shrugging. He contradicted himself multiple times. At one point, I had to specifically request he be courteous enough to make eye contact with his customer while he communicated with me because he was looking at the floor and shrugging. He argued with me about how much of my money he should refund, and he stubbornly refused to give me a full refund and kept $30.00. He said that he will mail me a check for my refund, but was very evasive about when I can expect that refund. I am not confident that he will actually send it to me. The only positive aspect of the entire experience was his employee Robbie, who attempted to do the right thing and has a good sense of customer service.
Description of Work: They were supposed to fix my laptop (iBook) and perform data recovery, and assured me they'd have it done in less than 2 weeks. After 2 weeks and a day, they told me they had installed a new hard drive and operating system, but were still working on the data recovery. I paid them in full, and they told me to come back the next week for the recovered data. From the start, my computer was performing sluggishly, refusing to accept simple program downloads (like Adobe Flash), popping up with "unknown error" messages, and freezing up. After having had it back in my possession for less than 6 calendar days, it froze up entirely, in the same manner it had before I had initially taken it to them. I took it back immediately, and they said they would get it working properly at no charge, since what they had done had obviously not fixed the problem. Instead, they left it sitting on a shelf gathering a thick layer of dust (literally!) for most of the next almost-month they had it. Towards the end of the experience they admitted that they knew nothing about how to work on Macs, and they eventually gave it back to me, supposedly in its original condition and with its original parts. They never did give me any of my data.
