Butler Surveying responded promptly to an email inquiry about getting an estimate, provided a competitive bid, and explained clearly the elements that would go into the work. They adjusted their own schedule to accommodate our interest in getting the survey done before a certain date, and their crew came to the house and introduced themselves before beginning work. The job was difficult physically because some of the land is very steep and heavily overgrown with brush and vine maple, but the crew was unfazed. They were able to locate several of the markers from a previous survey, and marked those along with newly calculated ones. The amount of tree-felling and brush-cutting the crew had to do to get straight lines of sight meant that they ended up needing more time than originally was expected, and they had to leave before walking the boundary with us because they'd been called back to the office. They did however do a good job of leaving readily identifiable new markers at each corner and whenever the distance between points was 150 feet or greater. The crew worked hard, the bill came in slightly below estimate, and we requested and were provided with a full-size (24" x 36") printout of the final product. We were very satisfied with the way this project was conducted and enjoyed talking the Chris Butler in the office a few days later when we happened to be in Chehalis. One thing we asked about was getting the geographic coordinates of our parcel corners since surveying language is different, using bearings and distances from a known point. We understand surveying GPS is far more accurate than what is available to consumers, and once this last request is addressed, I will add an update here. 4/14/15 Update: For those who may want a survey with GPS coordinates, it IS possible to do, but it would add to the cost and also not be feasible under tree cover. For a survey our size, Butler Surveying says it would add about a thousand dollars to the cost.
Description of Work: Butler Surveying did a boundary survey of our wooded 8.5 acres in rural Lewis County.
