During construction there was a terrible communication problem! I had discussed what my concerns were and when they were addressed I thought that we were on the same thought. I was told repeatedly that he had thing under control, not so. First, The roof did not reach over the home enough to keep the rain from my porch and after modifying HIS the porch still gets wet. This is a danger and was to be fixed. Second, The supports used were 4x4s for a 30 ft x 22 ft structure. The inspector made them add supports that run in front of my windows and they are very ugly! When asked why he did not use 6x6s he said he was keeping the cost down. I should have made that decision! Third, The bolts that were used are way to long, they are galvanized as should be, but if you cut them off then they will rust. Also the bolts are a fraction away from the gutters on the house. Fourth, When working they did not clean up. They did not remove sawdust or nails out from under the heat pump when they moved it back where it should sit. It has not been shimmed properly so the condensation pools on the patio instead of running off to the grass right next to the pump. These people have not cleaned up, I had to take a large magnet to the driveway so I could park where I normally park due to nails. There is sawdust everywhere, and it blows down from the roof where the left Roofing package and small wood. Along with the rain, I have a mess that needs to be cleaned off of the porch daily. I have asked for a change in the work order to remove the painting from the estimate three times and they do not do what I ask, they still want me to pay the original price and the work is not where it should be and they will not get the change right so I can sign off. I have a 10% hold back but they continually want to keep the painting in the bid. Three times I have expressed my discontent and it is now OVER a month and this work is not completed!
Description of Work: Building a Patio cover: This needed to be free standing and to overlap roof of the home (New double wide). This design was to allow light to filter in (not the rain)!! 1. Because the patio cement did not slope properly for NW rains and it turned dangerously icy in the winter. 2. There was no cover over back porch and it made for a messy entry during the winter.

Response from Eagle Construction
I know it is very easy to blame the evil contractor and not take responsibility for ones owns actions and in this instance that is what is happening. You are hearing from a women that by all accounts is just trying to not pay her bill. I have read her letter and will try to go complaint by complaint. You must first know that she did not hand me a set of plans or even a picture to go from. She told me she wanted a 30x20 self supporting roof over her patio, but had a budget to stay in. After many meetings with the city on what I could build and stay within her budget we settled on a roof design (all of which she was aware of). The customer gladly signed the contract, but not before she talked me into letting her make payments on the final payment (even though we were in budget) agreement was signed. During construction the customer came to me crying. She decided that the roof line was not acceptable and not what she wanted, even though she never produced plans/drawings. Once I calmed her down and she stopped crying, I told her I would see what I could do to address her concerns, even though she was aware of the roof design. I redesigned the top of the roof with no cost to her and a lot of cost to me. Once it was finished, she loved it, and I thought we were done, but I was mistaken. Next she does not like the post and the cross supports. This was all revealed to her in the beginning with an approved design , which was the only way to do the roof and stay with her budget, and now she refuses to let me finish the cross supports to stabilize the roof. The customer says the inspector made me add them and she is right (They do not want it to fall down and are in the original design) and they are not in front of her window blocking the view, but on the bottom edge just for that reason. The customer does not like the bolts. She claim they stick out too far, yet if she would have let us finish the job, we would have cut them to the proper length and painted the ends, so as not to rust. We were not allowed to finish the job, so how are we supposed to cleanup? We did not do any work in her driveway, so why would she have to magnet it, is beyond me. There are other things that are not in her letter that I would like to add. First, I came to work in the morning to her angry again. She is now accusing me of not putting the steel rebar in the support pads, and that I did not put felt paper under the roofing. Well, I am glad to say that I took pictures of all of the work, so I showed her the pictures and again she is happy. Yet, once again I was mistaken. The customer asked me to change the contract to take off the painting to swap it for gutter guards on her house and new roof. I told her it would be no problem, so we stopped work until she could come into the office and sign a change order. A couple of days later, she came into the office crying and screaming at my secretary, telling her that they put the down spouts in the wrong place and demanded we move it and that I was a shyster and crook because I was not charging her enough money for gutter guards and I was ripping her off. After my secretary calmed her down again, she said she would talk to me and see what we could to. We called the gutter installer and told him what was going on, he replaced the gutter at his expense to make her happy. You must know that she never asked for the down spouts to be in a certain spot. Now, I could go on and on, but I think you can see how this is going. I have done all I could do to make her happy and that is just not going to happen. We, as a company, can do no more for her at this time. She has done nothing, but try find ways to not pay the last part of her bill. We as a company have been in business since 1963 and even through these hard times, we pride our services on doing quality work for all of our customers, she is no exception. Even though it is not 100% of what she wants, it is a good looking and well built structure (once the last brace is in place). We regret what has transpired here, but still wish her well.

Was promised work would be done in 6 weeks, took over 3 months. Bathroom counter top is coming up, caulking in bath and kitchen is failing. Paint in kitchen was incomplete. Can still tell where item where removed from walls prior to painting. Had to replace screws holding door hinges up. New kitchen cabinets appear to be pulling away from the wall.
