Erik was great. We had some special requests and he was kind enough to accommodate. The trees look so much better and we were pleased with the quality of service and professionalism. Look forward to doing business with again.

We have worked with Eric for more than 12 years. He has removed dead trees and trimmed living trees. He is careful in his work and his prices are fair. Plus, he is a very pleasant person to do business with! We will never use another arborist.

Erik was really nice and professional.
Description of Work: I had a dying maple taken down. The Tree Steward guy came, Erik?, and looked at all my trees and talked me out of removing another older maple. In the end he removed the rotten tree, a ratty old plum tree, a random smaller maple and cut down some tall stumps, and removed some cabling for a left over ham radio antenna.

In preparation for installing solar on our house, we had three birch trees and one flowering cherry tree removed. They were all at least 30 years old and had been planted within 5 feet of the house. With efficient skill, Erik Matteo and a member of his crew removed these trees in just a few hours without harming our home or the neighbor's. A few days later Erik returned to grind the stumps of the birch trees. He advised against grinding the stump of the cherry tree because it would hurt the nearby shrubs.

Eric Matteo took down two Doug. Fir trees, one that had lost it's top in a windstorm and the other leaning towards the road. Then he took down a pine that was dying, and finally a smaller cedar tree that was in the wrong place. Then he ground the stumps down to a depth of about 12 inches below ground, chipped the branches, hauled away the logs, and cleaned up completely. Eric did a great job. His bid was reasonable (of three) and he had the equipment to do the stump grinding, which was part of the bid. He was prompt, courteous, and we will use him (and recommend him) again. He came recommended to us by another arborist/landscaper who did not want to tackle these medium-large trees.

18 months ago we'd gotten a bid to trim and remove deadwood in our Maples (4 in total) and a small Cedar. We called Erik and he honored the bid from 2011 with no problem. He was quite busy when we called and so had to defer the trimming, but followed up and organized a day that suited both of us. He came on the date, added trimming an Alder for a modest incremental fee, cleaned up everything and even left some firewood. He was incredibly professional and impressive (going up in the trees) and provided excellent value in comparison to another bid we received.

He is a certified arborist. He removed trees that were close to our home and did not damage anything. He is very conscious of the environment and works with the trees. We wanted some trees down and he recommended just trimming them. He listens to our concerns and offers his own suggestions to reach out goals. He cut the trees to our specifications and cleaned up well. He left what we wanted for fire wood. we will use him again.

I've used Erik since about 2003. Things always go well when I use him. He's honest and hardworking, always bills for the estimate amount (or once in awhile less if things go quickly). I'm a garden designer and I recommend him to clients.
Description of Work: Most recently Erik limbed up a few cedars, a tall oak and removed two large trees. In the past, he's removed a tall line of Leyland Cypresses for me, and a cherry tree and probably other work I can't recall.

I highly recommend them! Eric, the owner, is very hard working and personable. His assistant was also hard working. I had to wait several weeks to get an appointment, but they are faithful to their schedule.
Description of Work: They cut down 6 cedars as well as a couple in my front yard that they did for free. They also took care of the overhang from my neighbors tree that was over my fence. They accidently cut two stumps down lower than I had asked, so they took $300 off the original bid.

I did a lot of investigation for this company. I spent somewhere in the $2000 to $2200 ballpark. Erik Matteo is the owner. He is a certified arborist. I live in a rural area with a lot of older trees close to the house. The whole tree would come over especially in a windstorm. I had two trees in a clump of trees, which I needed to have removed. In the case of those groups, I needed stump removal as well. So, I called around and got several quotes. Then a lot of people came and talked, but they were basically sales type. Then Erik came over and we talked about the issues. We then discussed how it was going to work, how the trees were going to be taken down and the prospects of basically the trees coming down on my house. We covered everything. Then he broke down the cost for me. He didn't just give me a price tag. He basically told me what he was charging me for which tree and for stump removal and everything else. I knew exactly before the work was to be started not only how it was to be done, but also how much it was going to cost me. The thing that impresses me is that I like dealing with people who get me involved in the process so that I understand. The result was that there were no surprises. There was nothing deviated in what was stated prior to the work being done. He did a great service for me. He gave me a lot of insight about the life of the tree, what I should expect, what I should do and what I need to deal with right now because next windstorm can take one of those trees right into my house. He also told me that I didn't have to do the other trees right now. So, everything was known. If I have to do anything related to trees like planting a tree or getting some education from an arborist, then the first person I would call would be Erik. I know that when he comes to the price, he would beat everybody else. He was very professional and on time. There was no deviation in the quality of service. I would use him again in a heartbeat.

He was pleasant, knowledgeable and explained what he did and why.
Description of Work: The certified arborist who is the Tree Steward, or was, alone on site at the time, took out what was left of a very old, termite-infested cherry tree in the back yard. He also took some bulk out of a self-planted cherry nearby. He worked methodically and carefully. He removed the dead, buggy wood, and charged very little, given the large job.

Tree Stewards did an excellent job of thinning and removal of trees. They showed up on the contracted date and did a very fine job of clean-up afterward. I got compliments from a neighbor. All this for a very reasonable price compared to other bids. One thing I really appreciated was that they contradicted another tree company's evaluation (a tree company that came door-to-door in our neighborhood) that tall firs would have to be thinned to prevent a "sail" effect in strong winds that could cause the trees to fall on our house. Tree Stewards felt that, as long as the trees were healthy (and from all indications, the firs were healthy), there would be no danger. They obviously weren't trying to drum up additional work.
Description of Work: Shortened a tall cedar, thinned a large big leaf maple, removed cedar branches away from the house, removed a dead fir tree, removed a fir whose roots were damaging the driveway.
