Description of Work: worked on furnace. Beware that they charge $85. travel even though they were in the area working on other customers. They also charged them so we paid alpine over $200 to drive from Mt. Vernon, pretty outrageous.

Description of Work: The technician, Andrew was prompt , friendly, and very professional. My gas fireplace was an old and obsolete model which no one else had heard of. He in fact had previously worked on one before and was able to diagnose the problem. I located a company on-line which carried some spare parts for this model, ordered the part needed, and Andrew installed it and fired it up. When the pilot light went out (partly my fault and partly a draft problem), he returned immediately and got it relit. He even got a ladder and checked the chimney. There was no charge for this return trip. I will use Alpine Heating from now on for any of the services they offer. Good job!

 + -1 moreThe technician explained the various reasons for the fan not turning off. He replaced a number of elements saying they have internal switches that fail. The fan did not turn off.He then noticed that the thermostat also had a switch. It was the culprit., it only needed an adjustment. So he removed all the new elements he installed and put back the old ones, I asked him what the elements cost. He said about between $100 and $150 each. He charged for only for the house call. ( With my lack of knowledge, he could have sold me something I didn't need.)
Description of Work: Heater fan would not turn off. The technician adjusted fan switch on thermostat.

I asked for references and got them - all gave positive reports. The installation went well. I was given a reasonable charge for a change order. Work was completed in less than 2 weeks from initial estimate inquiry.

 + -1 moreMy first call was because the exhaust vent on my water heater had been improperly installed by another contractor who was impossible to get back to repair his own work. The exhaust was venting into my home which is a carbon monoxide hazard. Alpine corrected the problem and responded very quickly. A couple of years later my forced air gas furnace would not start up correctly. Alpine came right out and diagnosed and fixed the problem, which was caused by dirt in a pressure switch. A couple of days later more dirt jammed up the pressure switch again and they came right back at no charge to fix the problem. I like the quality of this firm's work and their timeliness in responding.
Description of Work: I have used this company on a couple of occasions. I bought a new house and had problems with the water heater venting and a couple of years later the forced air furnace failed. Gary has serviced both systems and did excellent work.
