Duane was amazing! When I called, he was just down the street. He headed right over to help. He asked me to run through what I had already tried step by step. He looked over the wring and the main circuit breaker panel. He also went up into the attic to look at where the wiring connected to the central heater. After about 15 minutes of testing, he found that one of the circuit breakers was failing and allowing the electrical current to arc. He replaced the circuit breaker, and retested everything. I had my heating back and garage door opening in about 40 minutes total. He was very polite and professional, and explained everything that he was doing while doing it. I will definitely hire him again!
Description of Work: Heater and garage door opener in the garage would not turn on. I checked the electrical panel but could not find a problem.

He took out all the receptacles, fiddled with his equipment, and crawled around the attic for two hours. He was stumped and couldn't find the problem. Then he looked around in the garage and noticed that there was a GFCI switch in there. He pushed the button and the power went back on. He charged my parents $269 for that. Granted, my elderly parents should have known they had a GFCI in their garage, but it should not take an electrician two hours to find out that is what the problem is. I think he he should probably retire.
Description of Work: I called Duane because my elderly parents had power go off in part of the house. He said he would come in around 1 and came in around 3. That was fine because he let us know he would be late.

He did a good job at a reasonable price.
Description of Work: My home was built in 1978, the other day we lost power to 1/3 of out tri-level. I called Duane after hours and he said he had an opening it the afternoon the next day. He called me before he came out and when he got here he had to track down the outlet causing the problem. He replaced the outlet and a couple breakers, which luckily, he had in his repair truck.

We need to have en electrician do some work around our home, so we consulted Angie's list for contractors in our area. My wife called Prouty on 1/22 and left a message. Duane returned the call the following day and my wife asked me to coordinate with him when to have him come and look at our scope of work to give us a bid on what we need to have done. Duane asked for me to text him our address, and we agreed that he would schedule us for Friday afternoon 1/29. I wrote down the number that he asked me to send the text to, and CONFIRMED it with him while still on the phone. We waited anticipating him contacting us on Friday, I made sure that my phone was charged and kept it with me around the house all day, but never heard from him. I need to coordinate these types of meetings for the limited time that I have available. I can not emphasize how terribly disrespectful I feel it is to have had wasted my time with the expectation of Prouty Electric's being interested in the possibility of WORKING FOR US. Going back to check the Angi's list page Prouty business description says "We offer over 30 years of experience in the business." But then I read that they have been in business since 2005. And have been on Angie's list since 2010, yet have all positive reviews. We believe in supporting the community where we live, so we looked for local contractors to try to spend our hard earned money where it will do the most good HERE in Clark County. It certainly looks as though we will have to widen our search, since Prouty seems have the attitude that they are doing us a favor by working for us, rather than EARNING OUR MONEY for quality service. I would not waste the time to call them again. I am sure they have BIGGER FISH TO FRY than working for the local families. Angie's list would not allow me to complete the post without including an approximate cost of service. We received another bid for the $3000.00 amount I posted. That incidentally called us when he was going to be just a few minutes late, but was still here within 30 minutes of when he committed.
Description of Work: Talked on the phone. Made commitments that were not kept.

It went well. The electricity went out in part of our home. We tried shutting everything off through the main breaker, then turning it back on, etc. Nothing we tried worked. I called our home warranty and they connected us with Prouty's Electric. We were informed we would be called by the Contractor. Prouty's Electric called the same morning and scheduled an appointment for later that morning or early in the afternoon. He came in the afternoon and checked the main breaker. After checking that he checked the GFI plug and that did the trick. Husband tried that earlier to no avail but he said sometimes you need to wait a while before trying it. Overall, he was professional, courteous and responded quickly to our issue. I'm happy it was a simple fix and would use them again should we need electrical work.
Description of Work: The electricity went out in part of our home and we couldn't figure out the cause. The provider fixed the issue and our electricity was restored.
