Trent was great. He stopped by for to give an estimate and warned me that he was really busy and it may take a while to get an appointment. I am glad I waited. He started the work on time and it looked great when it was done. During the project he noticed that part of my deck was sinking and repaired it at no extra cost. When I explained to him a future project of extending the deck he used extra material to create an anchor point on my house for the new deck. Great service.

Demo went ok. 3 houses, 20 years, several projects, this was the most expensive and painful remodel so far. Way too many issues to list. Things that were promised, we ended up either changing or not doing because he was charging extra for them, even though it was discussed in the estimate. $2300 to move a light switch (it was brought up in the estimate, but overlooked, like many things when the job was under way). We did things ourselves to save money but in the end he always found something to charge more for, so that it still cost the same. Very poor communication, it felt like they had no time for our job. He would ask what we wanted and no matter how many times we told him they still didn't do what we asked. The end result was to put a plate on stuff to hide the poor work. They left garbage in our crawl space and yard, and a hole in the side of the house for over a week. The only reason it was fixed was because we kept harping on it. He told us to buy the flooring at Cascade Flooring and if they couldn't deliver it, he would pick it up. we picked out the flooring, at which time he said that we have to pay Cascade Flooring to install it because he couldn't. Cascade Flooring was amazing! They were worth the extra. I felt bad for them, because they had to spend hours leveling the counter tops, because the cabinets were installed so poorly. The same custom cabinets were damaged because they had been installed backwards (even though the plans were very specific). They had to take them out and reinstall them leaving big holes in the wrong places. I asked what they were going to do to fix them and there was no response. They ended up screwing huge screws through washers to try to hide the holes (tearing up the drywall behind the cabinets). very unprofessional. I ended up fixing it myself. They did as much damage as good. One thing that was very disappointing was when they broke a piece of rock that was the shelf on a vanity made in the 1960s. Things happen, so he said he would get a new one. He ended up glueing it together, and asked if it was good enough. I said no, I am sure we can do better, so he glued it down! Obviously didn't listen or didn't care. He told us that nobody made anything that thickness, so he did the best he could. Couple of phone calls, and we had a new piece cut and installed it ourselves. The plumber was unprofessional and lazy. No standards at all. Pipes come out of the wall at different heights, pipes are just loose in the walls. He always left a mess, and tried to hide it if he could. The only thing holding the pipes for the shower is the head. I found that out, because the first thing that happened was the shower heads clogged with debris from the pipes, that obviously were not cleared out. Trent fixed two of the sinks, but the pipes still bang the walls when the washer is running. I am afraid to have a real plumber look at it. They may be fine to fix up a rental or a barn, but not your home if you value it. Very track home quality at best. Much more that I didn't mention, like the fact that he talked us out of a pocket door, and into a barn door. Door is fine, but he said that we would have to pay someone else to do the threshold because he couldn't. He ended up doing a plank that buts up to the carpet, that looks ok, but you have to be careful stepping on it because it hurts if you catch the edge. They set up in our yard, so I came home to a muddy mess. They could have set up in the driveway and gone through the garage, and avoided the rain completely. Instead We ended up with a muddy porch and stains on the carpets. I had to complain before they cleaned the porch. Then when they did clean it, it looked like a child did it. Once again, I had to do it myself. I could keep going, but I am not happy that this is what it came to. Our bathroom is still not done. They pulled out the toilet paper holders and never put them back in (again, finally did it myself). Huge disappointment, and I feel taken advantage of. He could not even hang a shower door. He paid someone else to do it. In the end, he put so many holes in the shower, that they could not cover all of them when they finally got the door hung. Our savings is now gone, and we got very little of what we wanted or planned.

Response from A Reliable Handyman
Contrary to the completion date listed on this review, the job completion date was in May 2017, almost a year ago. Also, this job consisted of two bathroom remodels, moving the laundry room downstairs, and re-piping the whole house. It was not just one bathroom remodel. This was a complicated job from day one. The bathroom is a small bathroom, and the customer wanted to fit a large soaking tub, shower, toilet, double sink, and a linen closet into a room that measures ~5'x11'. I had a few plans drawn up to see if everything would fit and I could see that it was going to be incredibly crowded. I tried, to no avail, to talk the customer into removing something from the plans or making the bathroom larger to accommodate their wishes. The customer stated that it was very crucial to fit everything into the current bathroom no matter what. They finally accepted one of the drawings. I clearly and specifically warned them that the bathroom would be very crowded, but they agreed with the plan, and we decided to move forward with the remodels. Further complications included the fact that upon delivery, the tub came cracked from the manufacturer. I returned it and had to wait for a new one to come. Of course, this delayed our schedule since I had to reschedule all the subs. In the review, the customer states that there were many extras throughout the job. I notified the customer each time there was a change. I provided them with a detailed extra work order with the price each time and they signed the agreement. The $2300 to move a light switch is inaccurate, and well above the actual price. We communicated with the customer consistently throughout the whole project. As I look back at the emails exchanged throughout the job, I see many conversations. There were around 150 emails exchanged. I promptly replied to the customer's emails, and I sent many emails to check in as well. Furthermore, on more than one occasion, I sat down face to face with the customer to figure out a plan to make things right. In the meeting, they stated that everything was okay and then after awhile I began receiving emails telling me there were things wrong. As far as the debris under the house, I removed it myself. I also cleaned up the yard. The cabinets referred to in the review had two sinks in them. I installed them as cabinets are typically installed. The customer wanted them installed a different way, but didn't inform me until after there were already installed. I issued a credit for the broken vanity shelf. I tried to purchase a replacement part for the vanity, although after checking with all my suppliers, I was unable to find a replacement. I am glad they were able to use the credit that we gave them to purchase a replacement. The shower door was a complicated situation. I had a difficult time finding a shower door that would work in this special situation since the customer wanted a pivoting shower door and the opening was not a standard opening. In the end, I fixed the situation by letting the customer choose a new door from my glass company and having them install it. In the end, as I look back at this job, I did everything in my power to make this job pleasant. I asked over and over again if there was anything I needed to do to make it right. I responded to the items as quickly as possible, and there are still items in the review which were never brought to my attention.

Great, as usual with Trent. I would hire him to do anything. He was especially good at suggesting things I would not have thought if, fir example, putting in an alcove between the studs to hang up robes and pajamas. Also he noticed that one outside wall had no insulation and fixed that. He works with great subcontractors and his initial detailed schedule was pretty accurate.
Description of Work: We had a pretty major remodel of the small master bathroom in an older (built in 1938) house. Since the bathroom could not be expanded, I wanted it to feel as big as possible. So, we got a new larger mirror, new tile floor, white tile wainscoting on walls, new counter and sink. The tub was kept but resurfaced and the toilet was kept. We also got new recessed lighting as well as a combo light, fan and heater since this room was also cold.

The result works and looks great, and the project cost about half the quote we got from a company that specializes in under-deck covers. Trent and his crew were professional and reliable, and their work is high quality. After having worked with other handymen/contractors that have left us hanging or deserted, we have come to appreciate that a "Reliable" handyman is not something to be taken for granted! Trent always says what he can do, and does what he says.
Description of Work: This was the most recent of several projects Trent and his team has done for us. We had recently done some landscaping under a high deck, and we wanted to prevent water from running through the deck planks and making lines of splash marks and mud under the deck. Trent designed and installed water collecting panels and downspouts under the deck.

Trent and his team completed the work to our satisfaction. First of all, Trent helped us scale back our wishes to fit our budget. Although the completed bathroom isn't our "dream" bathroom, we're very happy with how it turned out. Trent sent us to a flooring place to talk to a designer about colors and materials, which was very helpful to us. Our job was small, so Trent handled the major work and closely monitored the work completed by a couple of young men. Trent was always a phone call or text away and always inspected the work his young team completed. We appreciated the skill he used in training his younger team members - with patience and attention to detail. Trent kept in regular communication with us, so we always knew when he or his team would be at our house. Weather delayed the job a few days, but we were happy with the completion timeline. Trent's attention to detail is what caught our eye when he gave us the initial estimate. We knew we didn't have to worry about his craftsmanship. We are very pleased with Trent's work and would not hesitate to hire him again.
Description of Work: We hired Trent/A Reliable Handyman to remodel a 28-year old hall bathroom. We added a 3' x 1' window above the tub/shower combo, installed new vinyl flooring, quality tub with surround, new toilet, new laminate counter top, painted walls, refinished existing vanity, painted inside door to match vanity, and installed mirror and hardware. We also had him repair a roof leak and install new drywall. He sprayed for mold in the attic and added more vents to improve air flow.

Trent was excellent at corresponding prior to the engagement. He arrived with his team member on time and went right to work. Since it was a rental home he was working on, I was there with the renter and her kids. I had to take a call during the project and the renter said she is more than comfortable being there with Trent. I returned 1.5 hours later and everything was done! He went the extra mile to show me why the window was skewed and how to to fix it in the future. He also made a recommendation to upgrade the doorstop (hinge-style) to floor mount as the long-term wear of the lower grade wood door is important. Made sense to me and I was so thankful. I felt like he had the best interest in my homes and shares the same "quality" values that I do. Oh, and he not only patched the drywall but was able to paint it. I couldn't even tell where it had been damaged.

This is one of those unfortunate situations where communication wires got crossed. I tried going to her house and my GPS was not finding her address so I tried to call her and realized that I was one number off on her phone number. Therefore, I was not able to reach her. I sat and waited by my phone hoping that I'd hear from her to resolve the address issue, although somehow I missed her call. She did not try to reach me via email, therefore there was no way that I could resolve this issue. I did my best to follow through, although there's only so much that can be done.
I can't say enough good about Trent and his crew. They were very meticulous throughout the project, the work area was always clean and orderly. Trent had great ideas about the re-model and he was more than accommodating on dealing with changes, add/deletes as the project went forward. Trent was also very explicit in any additional charges that would be applicable. The quality of work is superb. Nothing but kudos for A Reliable Handyman!
Description of Work: Trent and crew enclosed a large open carport into a three car garage. Formed concrete sills, framed, installed windows, door and framed out four garage doors. Also did all the exterior sheathing, papering and siding.
Extremely impressed with Trent and his worker's professionalism and speed. This was a last-minute project and he was one of the few who was able to accommodate our timeline. His quote was substantially less than any of the other five I received, which gave me pause initially but his reviews here and experience with the product we were installing convinced us otherwise. He knew the ceiling product (Woodhaven from Armstrong) and that made a big difference. Most importantly, he and his workers showed a precise attention to detail, understanding and respecting code and clear communication. There was a lot of on-the-fly decision making and he always chose the right path without us having to babysit or micromanage. His workers are nice guys who took the time to explain things and independently think though solutions to achieve a good result. I have worked with many contractors and this one was by far the most positive experience. I'll be referring him to others and will contact again when the next project comes up.

It was great. I think it looks beautiful, just like I expected. First of all he did a great job repairing the deck replacing boards and railings to bring it up to code. The canopy is something he had to create on his own to fit the space and conditions. Finally, I appreciate his knowledge of outdoor stains to recommend one by Sherwin Williams rather than was is typically available at Home Depot, which sometimes do not effectively adhere. It took about a week, just about what I expected. This is probably the 8th or 9th project Trent has done for us on our 80 year old house we bought a couple of years ago. Our experience with all projects was great. As far as I'm concerned, Trent can do anything.

We've been very impressed with Trent and A Reliable Handyman. Although it took a little while to get a spot on the calendar, Trent and his team worked quickly and competently. The shelves in our garage and unbelievably sturdy and met our requirements perfectly. Based on a photo, the team was able to build a pergola exactly meeting our specifications within 3 days. When we found a small problem with replaced grouting in our shower, Trent returned promptly and corrected the issue to our satisfaction. We look forward to working with Trent in the future. We highly recommend considering A Reliable Handyman for household jobs of all sizes.

The worker was great. Decent work and friendly. My emails were always answered quickly and they fit me in their schedule, which I appreciated. My only real issue being, I was charged $150, which I was fine with, but then when I got the bill it stated that was the minimum charge. If I had known that I would've come up with other things to get fixed. All in all happy with though.
