Did a good job when they came out but as far as estimates and billing go, there was not good follow-through. They taxed the service, which I had never had happen before. I didn't expect it, and got a bill. I kind of got the feeling that since it wasn't a big job, they didn't seem to want to do it. There are not "big bucks" in mowing lawns. I just went ahead and paid the bill but it caught me off guard. I will probably not be using the service again.
Description of Work: They came out several times to mow our lawn.

Description of Work: I hired Platinum Landscapes for a backyard rehab that included new sod installation ($900), tree removal ($500) plant installation ($800), and gravel and retaining wall installation ($1200). Braden did a good job providing a detailed quote, but failed to inform me just how difficult a time the sod that they installed would have staying healthy in my backyard, which receives only very limited sunlight and apparently also had very poor drainage (which I was not aware of). | |They did a good job with all of the other aspects of the job, but the lawn installation was a complete disaster. It looked good for a couple weeks, but as soon as the rains started it quickly became a soggy mess and by the time spring came it was a dead, soggy swamp due to the complete lack of drainage. I contacted Braden to come by in the spring to take a look and see if he would stand by his work and try to revive the lawn, and he did come by, but it seems that once he saw how bad the damage was he decided this wasn't worth their time, as he stopped responding to my emails, so I just gave up and wrote this off as a bad investment. |I feel that, as the experts, they should have advised me that a lawn would be unlikely to survive in this space without a proper drainage system. Afterward when I dug up some of the dead grass I realized there was a rock hard layer of clay about 3 inches below the surface, which made it pretty clear why the lawn didn't drain. I feel like they should have realized that and informed me of it, and either took steps to deal with it (i.e. rototill/break up the clay better to prepare it for sod), or simply told me that installing sod would be "at my own risk" as it was not likely to survive. But they provided me no such advice, and simply said they can put in some new topsoil and use grass that does well in shady conditions and can grade the lawn to drain away from the house with no problem. | |It has been almost 2 years now and the lawn still looks terrible, but we probably won't bother fixing it up again until we sell the house. Braden seems like a nice and knowledgeable guy and the gravel/retaining wall work they did was solid, but I can't recommend them due to the poor sod installation that they did and their subsequent unwillingness to stand by their work. |

Description of Work: They removed an 8' section of sidewalk and replaced it. The tear out and preparation went well, but they started pouring the new sidewalk section too late in the day and the concrete was too slow to set up. As a result they applied the broom finish when the concrete was still too wet, and the resulting finish was rougher than it should have been. They offered to lower the price, which we accepted.

Another contractor had replaced this sidewalk section a couple of years ago, but it was a very poor job. The concrete was uneven and extremely rough. We contracted with Platinum Landscapes to replace and pour new concrete for the sidewalk section. They had done several other sidewalk sections in our neighborhood, which looked good. They were very accommodating and even agreed to tint the new concrete so that it wouldn't appear so white (as new concrete usually does). The demolition and haul away of the old sidewalk section went very well, except that it was more difficult and time consuming than they expected. Nonetheless, they stuck with it and completed this portion of the job well. The preparation and construction of the forms also went very well. They took great care, to make sure everything was set for the new concrete. They got a late start mixing and pouring the new concrete. By the time is was poured and troweled, it was getting dark - and more importantly the temperature was dropping. As a result the concrete was not setting up very quickly and it was still too wet went it was swept to create the broom finish. The resulting finish on the finished product was rougher than desired (more so than a typical broom finish). Braden was very accommodating working with us to explore options. Given our dissatisfaction with the finished product, he offered a reduction in the price which we accepted. He explained that over time the roughness would smooth out due to foot traffic and weather.
Description of Work: Removed 5' x 8' section of sidewalk, prepared and poured new sidewalk in front of our home.
