This experience was a classic lesson about how bad a job can turn out unless a home owner gets a very detailed work order before the work starts. This is not an easy thing to do as we are never knowledgeable enough to know exactly what a job entails. I unfortunately screwed up by accepting his email response to my concerns that his bid/work order was not detailed enough because I trusted him---a bad call. His very generalized response ended with "etc," which was probably the one important clue I did not catch. The most astounding issue was that he apparently never had plans to finish any part of the job that required him to be on a ladder working from the outside. So I ended up with the windows installed with glazing tape between the glass and the outer new wooded stops that were not caulked with some song and dance from Mr. Pemberton that it was not needed. That is unheard of! I even called him on the day of the job to make sure he had a ladder long enough, and all he said was that he did. But AFTER all the old windows were out, he told me I had to make the decision of which of the two ways I wanted them installed, "wet set" or with glazing tape, never revealing that in either case was he NOT going to finish the job from the outside. I said use glazing tape, and then had to argue with him to my surprise to even reach outside as he installed each window to caulk the bottom edges. I really had no choice given he had a $2000 deposit, was in my house and had already removed all the windows! So I tried to be as nice as I could even though I was steaming inside realizing how stupid I was to have hired him. From every source I can find, people and the internet, I find it incredible that a window company can claim that caulking between the outer side of the glass and wooden stops is not needed! I ended up having to pay about $500 for another contractor to do the caulking. It was already the end of September, and very difficult to line up a company before the rains started, which they did in early October. Another clue that I should have avoided this contractor was a report on the L&I web site of a previous complaint, and I also think I saw one on the BBB web site when I went there to see about filing a compliant which I did. He was also not a member of the BBB. How many clues did I miss? There were numerous other problems all the way down to marring the beautifully refinished oak interior stops because he did not have a rubber protector on his nail gun. But enough said, stay away from this company!
Description of Work: Four large non-opening double pane insulated windows were replaced based on the condition of the framing. Although the insulated windows themselves were about 20 years old, they themselves had not failed. The location of these windows was in a third floor dormer that was difficult to access from the outside, but done in the past by painters and window washers without apparently a second thought. The owner of Mirror & Glass Sales, Ed Pemberton, came to my house twice before the day of the job. The first time was to assess the situation, and the second time with one of his sons to do detailed measurements. He knew very well how difficult it would be to work from the outside---more later about that. The job was done by Mr. Pemberton and two sons he said he was teaching the business to.

The installation was not done for three months, the owner had to reorder since his measurements were wrong, the install was done poorly with no foam seal and it leaked. The company refused to come out and fix the air leak and left the installation with caulking every, but where it should have been. I ordered glass with a tine, but received clear glass. The owner threatened me with legal action if I complained. I have asked for the specs on the skylights and warranty with no response. I asked him to fix the skylights, he promised to do it, but never showed up!
Description of Work: This was for the replacement of three 15 year old skylights with new ones.

Other companies had bid substantially higher. We were very happy with the result.
Description of Work: They made 8 tempered glass shelves for us to be used in custom cabinets built for our new kitchen. They delivered them to us as well.
