We interviewed at least a half dozen companies before meeting Ray with L&L. We instantly liked him and was impressed with his genuine friendliness and professionalism. He came in totally prepared...taking notes, making measurements, listening to what we wanted and needed, and providing us choices of various products along with recommendations .He actually had product samples along with colors etc. We presented him with a complicated task of having to jack up the main floor and a 26ft wall of windows to replace the main structural foundation sill plates above the basement wall that had been leaking for years unbeknownst to us prior to purchasing the home even 15 years ago...replacement windows had no flashings etc therefore allowing rain water to back flow over the top of the concrete foundation and down inside the walls flooding the downstairs living area and rotting the main wood structure. He was able to tackle that along with double waterproofing it all before he then began the large deck. The deck itself was very detailed. Building a deck these days is far more detailed and complicated than just slapping up the 2X6 structure and nailing the boards on top. Every deck board needs 100% end support so you really need to double think each joint/connection. Our deck was 36X18 with 3 sections and picture framed around each therefore adding to the complicated framing plus we had some angle cut edges. The crew ( himself; his son and 1 other worker) worked for days preparing the area with taking down the old deck and jack hammering out 6 tons of concrete...and hauling it all off also. All in all it was a long and difficult job through a week of heat and another week of rain. Every day I told them how impressed I was with their professionalism ; talent and ability. Every day they totally picked up and cleared the area. They were on time every day. When they left for the day they made a point of telling us that they were leaving for the day. I'm worn out now even just thinking of all they did and just how friendly and nice they all were. We couldn't be any happier with their work... and I'm probably the first to admit I can be very particular with all. You can rest assured that the job will be done correct and to the best of their ability... and these days what is also important is that L&L is a family business and you're not feeding a large corporate company. You will be happy with your choice if you choose Ray at L&L. :) They were the BEST!!!

You can stop looking, you have found an honest builder with pride in workmanship. I looked for months for a deck builder I felt would do a good job. Several of them were from Angies list and they were not interested in what I wanted, they were interested in what they could sell me. I talked to them about the fact that I had a mature garden and they would need to work around the plants. They told me I would have to move the plants. I wanted to know if the structure of the deck was still safe. They told me they wouldn’t know until they took the deck apart. I told them what my budget was. They had no advise or options to offer. I balked. They mansplained. I tore up their bids which were outrageous. One was for $33,000. It just isn’t that big a deck. I was really bummed. Then I found Ray. Ray came to my house and inspected the deck I had. He even crawled under it to check the structure. He answered questions. He explained the process and told me what it would cost to replace the deck I had. It was too expensive. He suggested alternative designs that would fit my budget. We talked back and forth for three weeks until we had a nice design that I could afford. He understood about my garden and assured me they could work around the plants and would be careful. He brought me decking samples, discussed pros and cons of different materials, and was patient and answered all my questions. He sent me a schematic of the deck with an estimate that listed supplies. I hired him. Ray and his son were the first contractors to work on my home that I didn’t feel I had to watch to make sure they did the job I paid them for. In fact, when they got some bad materials, they took them back to the supplier rather than just use them anyway. They finished the job at the cost we agreed on and there were no surprises. They left my property cleaner than they found it and not one plant lost its life to them. I now have a deck that is beautiful and that will outlast me. Decks are not all Ray and his son do. The next project I do on my home, this company will be the first I call.

I had several persons come and bid the job to repair my deck that another contractor screwed up. L & L construction was the only company to provide a reasonable bid and actually arrive to perform the services I wanted. No one else contacted us when they said they'd be here. L & L construction found problems that no other company found and priced the additional problems very reasonable. They are true perfectionist and pride themselves in doing the job right. I am truly delighted and proud to be the home owner of such a beautiful level new deck. I love it's looks and showing it off. I've had several persons look at the completed deck and they can't believe it's the same deck and how outstanding the workmanship is.

I can't say enough about both working with Ray and how our project turned out. He worked closely with us to think through not only what would be functional, but also what would look nice, in relationship to the rest of our home. He suggested the white trim on the stairs to match the trim on our windows, and it came out beautifully. He also shared the option of adding lights to the stairs, which was a great touch. Another thing we appreciated is that, when Ray offered suggestions, we never felt pressured or like he was trying to "up-sell" us. It really felt like a collaboration, and we're thrilled with the results. We've gotten compliments from several of our neighbors, and even from a couple of people who were dropping packages off!

Ray and team at L&L Construction did a fabulous job on our kitchen remodel. At the start, Ray worked with us to help re-design and visualize our new kitchen by providing style ideas, layout recommendations, navigating design trade-offs, cabinet options, and 3D renderings. After we settled on a design/layout, Ray ordered the new materials and then oversaw the delivery of materials to our home, including performing an inventory check to ensure that we received everything that had been ordered. With any project taking place in the home, it's extremely important to have a team that you can trust around your family and in your personal spaces. This is where L&L Construction really excelled. Ray and his team are a highly personable and friendly group of professionals. They are easy to work with, easy to communicate with, and are very transparent with their craft and approach. Additionally, they did an excellent job prepping and zoning off the work space to ensure minimal disruption to our day-to-day routine, and were also really good about keeping the work-space clean and tidy (e.g. no dust outside of the workzone!). L&L Construction finished our kitchen with a high-degree of quality and craftsmanship and importantly, they finished the project on time and on budget. We are extremely pleased with our end product and have enjoyed showing off our new kitchen to our friends and family. Ray to the rescue! Ray rescued us from our previous contractor, who abandoned our deck remodel job after he had purchased & delivered 792 square feet of Azek decking material. After many attempts to contact our previous contractor, we called Ray Long of L & L Construction through Angie"s list. He was willing to take on the job, but to our dismay we we were out of his service area. After listening to our sob story, he said he would use his expertise to find a reputable contractor in our area and serve as a general contractor to oversee the job. Ray is an expert on deck construction & has a knowledge of current technology. For instance, he was able to exchange the deck material that our previous contractor purchased to take advantage of a better method of fastening the deck boards at no additional cost. To make a long story short, the remodel job was completed on time and within budget. We are grateful to Ray for going the extra mile for us!

Replaced a deck and handrail and some siding is work on other projects on our house and we've always been satisfied completed on time and on budget will use them again. We supplied materials is good with labor only

Ray was extremely diligent about working on our deck. He came early every day and stayed well into the evening. He kept the job site picked up and cleaned daily. He provided periodic updates with pictures, and kept us informed of any issues that arose. The deck itself exceeded all expectations. It's beautiful! Some of our neighbors have come over to take pictures for ideas for their own deck improvements. We are very happy with Ray's work, and would definitely recommend him to our friends and family. Ray patiently listened to our needs, patiently explored options with us (e.g., adding a pergola which we ultimately rejected), and helped us settle on the specifics for our project. It was a pleasure to work with him. Ray is personable, he is eager to please, and he takes genuine pride in his work and is very much an artisan, not just a contractor. His work includes close attention to detail, and he made sure of a thorough clean-up.

We discussed design and materials, and then I received a very detailed estimate so there was no doubt what to expect. Ray helped me choose the most cost-effective way to get the work done with excellent quality materials. They were on time, respectful, and professional, and did almost all of the work in the pouring rain and still completed it on schedule. At the last minute (when the deck was done) I asked about a bench, and now I have one that will last as long as the deck. Ray made sure that I was happy with his work, and he left the area looking better than when he arrived.

Ray came out and listened to what I was looking for, and seemed to really hear me. We had a very old, rotting deck that was too small to be functional. Ray heard me on my budget limitations and the fact that I am not really good at maintenance. He came back with a deck that was almost exactly in budget, that was functional and used a material that required little maintenance. He scheduled us very quickly and had the work done within a few days of starting. He was impeccable in his clean up and the finished product is beautiful. I would highly recommend Ray and L & L for any future deck jobs you may have.

The AZEK decks are excellent. The substructure, attachments to the house, flashing, protection from rot were excellent. We are very happy with the final product. Ray was very professional and easy to work with. He paid very close attention to detail with perfection always in mind. Pricing was competitive. He started the job and stayed with our job with no distractions or delays. We strongly recommend his work. He worked in the extra minor jobs for us with excellent results. He worked closely with his flashing fabricator to custom fabricate flashing to protect our exposed beams.

Ray gave us a thorough pre-inspection and we knew exactly what we were going to get. He started the project on time and kept going until it was completed. Extremely happy with the quality of the results! I would highly recommend him to anyone.

We were just thrilled with every part of the experience with Ray. The deck was perfect and just absolutely beautiful! We have been enjoying it for about a month and we admire it every day. Working with Ray and his din was a pleasure. He was prompt, and on time with his promise to be done in a week. He was done on time. Absolutely terrific. They were very punctual, polite, they asked great questions and they were very reasonably priced for the work we needed done. They designed a change for one part of a corner which we absolutely loved. Their bid came in right on when they completed. Its really nice for a change to have work estimated and that is what we paid. They also did an unprecedented level of clean up. They cleaned up a bunch of stuff that was not related to the job. They said they were going to the dump anyway and we had told them we were throwing it out anyway.

Ray is terrific. Our deck was falling apart in several places and we knew we wanted to replace it with one that was functional, attractive and would last a long time in the damp Pacific Northwest. We didn't know if we wanted to go with cedar, (less expensive) or a composite which would last longer but cost far more. After a discussion of our needs and budget, Ray redesigned and was able to re-use the foundation, which was still in good condition. He gave us pricing on both options and provided photos of both that he had built in the past. He showed up exactly on time, was courteous and respectful of our property and tenants and even worked in the evenings to avoid the inevitable rain, which kept him on schedule. His pricing was as estimated (although I think he shortchanged himself a bit) and his work impeccable. I would definitely recommend him to anyone who needs a capable craftsman who works with honesty and integrity.

Ray was a pleasure to work with. He was on time, and his price was competitive. The new front deck that he built for us is nice and sturdy, as well as attractive. We've gotten several compliments on the quality of his work.

Working with the contractor was a pleasure. He was familiar with all the composite decking materials which made my decision easier. I selected Azek decking with the hidden fastener system. Decking joists were upgraded to 2 x 10 which is above code. The deck looks great and is extremely easy to maintain.

The job went without a hitch. I have worked with Ray in the past and I admire his professionalism. I also appreciate working with somebody that I trust. I will continue to use L&L construction as projects develop
