+ -1 moreThe project went well. We had some sills that were rotting on the garage and some siding boards that needed to be replaced. Kirk came out and reviewed the job and we made a list of what needed to be done. He was quick about coming out to estimate the job and he worked it into his schedule. The project was unfortunately, bigger than we hoped. Once they opened up the wall, they found a beam that had water damage and they had to remove it and replace. Kirk and his contractors worked hard to get the job done as quickly as they could. We were impressed by their speed and the quality of their work. We had Kirk's Enterprises work on a project a couple months earlier and felt they did a great job on that one too. We recommend Kirk's Enterprises. It was a large project and they were very competent and professional.
Description of Work: They repaired a lot of siding on the garage and replaced a large beam. They also did some siding work on the house.

+ -1 moreHe was not able to do some of the things needed. That was not so much the problem but more that he spent most of the time looking at what I wanted done after I told him to forget it. Consequently he wasted at least half of the time. Also he was more than 2 hours late. He called but long after he was supposed to be here. I would never use him again or recommend him.

+ -1 moreI hired Kirk from an Angies List Big Deal of the day. The deal was for 3 hours of handyman services. He got a LOT done in that 3 hours or so and was extremely nice and professional. He was right on time, respectful of the home and did not leave a mess behind. I ended up referring Kirk to one of my real estate clients who has hired him multiple times since then and is also very happy with him. Kirk is not the least expensive handyman I know, but he is licensed and bonded and the quality of his work is top notch, which for me is worth it!!!
Description of Work: Kirk finished installing a shower faucet, some door knobs, wall plates, assembled a shelf and a few other miscellaneous tasks.

For both services, Kirk seemed knowledgeable on what needed to be done. I would definitely contact him again in the future for any other repairs!

The problem is getting his attention in the first place, and then getting him to schedule an appointment and then make it to the appointment. I spent three weeks trying to schedule an appointment. After several postponements he finally arrived and accepted a job, saying that he would execute it on the following Monday or Tuesday. At 5pm on Tuesday he called and said he could come over and get to work at 6pm. I told him that his services were no longer required. Life's too short to be at the mercy of an overbooked and disorganized contractor, no matter how good his work is once he does it.

+ -1 moreKirk has now done work for me twice. Both times he has been on time. Both times he gave me reasonable prices. Both times Kirk did a great job. I am not organized nor am I in the mood to work on a house. Kirk movitates me to get things done. He even does additional stuff when he is at my house.
Description of Work: Installed a vent system for a microwave in a 40 year old house with blown in insulation and a low pitched roof. Fixed a bathtub drainage system that had already been "fixed" by another handyman and still didn't work.

Kirk gave me several options to consider regarding methods of fixing the fence and the costs involved. I appreciated that he didn't just give me one alternative and price. I have already talked with him about doing some additional work around my house. Kirk is a pleasant guy to do business with and very competent. .
Description of Work: Kirk repaired a fence that had been damaged by a falling tree limb and also stabilized part of another fence. He sawed up the tree limb and cut it into firewood-size pieces to donate to my neighbor. He cleaned up the area very thoroughly.

+ 0 moreKirk was knowledgable in the electric theory but failed to make the system work becausec, unknown to both of us, a proprietary switch was required for this particular installation. All grades are A except a slight degradation for not knowing this problem was not solvable without the proprietary switch. This was partly my fault but I would have been more impressed if he had discovered the problem before working on it for an hour. I will use him again and can recommend him.
Description of Work: I needed help installing a motion detector light switch in conjunction with a 3-way switch. It should have been easy but I couldn't get it to work so I called in someone with more experience.

Once he determined what would be needed, we discussed the options and I decided to leave the removal of the cover alone for now, as it would be best to do with a team of workers, likely at the same time as when I remodel the kitchen. He then worked on the locking mailbox. He custom cut the platform for the box and attached it to the existing mailbox stand. He also had to move and secure the neighboring box over to accomodate the (now) larger size box. The installation looks great. He then helped me with hanging an antique tapestry in the hallway. We tried various heights and settled on a position that looked right for the space. My special art piece is now once again displayed as it should be.
Description of Work: Kirk installed a locking mailbox and installed the hooks for a wall hanging. He also examined a skylight (the interior) in the kitchen and gave suggestions as to how to remove tempered glass inset (cover), and finish the inside sides of the skylight. He also measured, leveled and installed the hooks for a wall hanging.

+ 1 moreI will definitely hire Kirk again. I was really impressed with the way he fixed everything I needed done. He was careful and methodical.
Description of Work: Kirk put up my curtains (involving drilling , placement of curtain rod and centering brackets) , centering them exactly the way I had wanted. He fixed the length of my bi-fold door so they fit in the brackets in the floor , put the doors back up (they had been leaning against the wall, since I put them in incorrectly and they kept falling out). Kirk also fixed the bi- fold door next to it so they were even. He also checked my bathroom fan as I wasn't sure it was actually working, so Kirk took it out,and cleaned the area in the ceiling where the fan fits, and showed me how to fit the fan back into place. Kirk also hung up some large framed pictures in my living room which were too heavy for me to lift to the height I wanted them on the wall. He fixed the doors to my armoire, which were loose and caused them to close strangely. Kirk fixed my sliding glass door screen, that had been "sticking" when I tried to open it. i

+ 0 moreOur first appointment with Kirk was on 09/22/2011 to get a new door installed on the back of our home. After many delays, we finally had the door installed on 12/21/2011 by another handyman. Three months later - on a job that with delays should not take a month to do! Every time we made an appointment with Kirk he was late. If we had an appointment at 1pm then he would call and say he would be there at 1:30pm. Later he would call and say that he would there at 2:30pm then finally not show up until 4pm. He always seemed to have some kind of excuse for this. He mentioned having cash flow problems. He also seemed to like talking more than actually working. He did not seem like he had done the install of a door before. That is fine if he had just said he did not have experience in this area then let us move onto another contractor, our experience would not have been poor.
Description of Work: Needed a new back door installed in our home.

Due to the door frame being a bit out of kilter, he was not able to resolve the issue at the time of the initial visit but he knew what would be required and arranged for a later visit which would allow him time to pick up the materials needed. He arranged a time to get the work and interacted with my tenants directly on scheduling. When the job was done, he called me so I could check it out. The work was done very well and my tenants needs were met. Kirk left his contact information with the tenant so that if any followup was needed, they could call him directly. The overall cost was very reasonable and I appreciated his willingness to interact directly with the tenant as that saved time and effort and made it all go forward much easier and quicker.
