+ -1 moreThis is one of those rare contractor experiences where it was perfect beginning to end. Elgie was able to bid the job through email (with pictures I took,) which saved us both time in scheduling a bid appointment. We accepted the bid quickly and Elgie was able to accommodate our specific install date request. He arrived promptly and was extremely professional and personable. The job was done in one day, including a 10 ft high accent wall and a large 5 x 7 ft mural over the stairs. Seams are perfect as are edges that meet ceilings and adjacent walls. Great experience and will definitely hire Elgie again!

+ 0 moreNot well---the services I was promised only materialized promptly. He bid a job and then less than 2 hours later, with the job half done, he just decided he didn't want to do the work. I have heard of contractors who decline to bid a job or bid it high because they are not that interested in the work -- which is fine. I have never run into a contractor who actually bids a job, and while on-site, just stops work and walks out, without any kind of provocation or interference from anyone.
Description of Work: Promised to arrive by 8:30AM to do remove wallpaper from 3 rooms and install in another. I let them know that it was critical to get the job done that particular day, because I had other contractors arriving the following Monday and his work needed to be done first. He agreed. Called the day prior to say he would be there at noon and get the job done in half a day. Actually showed up at 1PM, offered no apology but said he could probably do at least 2 rooms of wallpaper removal, and I would have to wait on the install of new product because he needed to leave by 4:30PM. He did a fair job on the 2 rooms, although I found it annoying that he de-installed wall fixtures and didn't put them back when done. When he started on the next room, which he quoted for $600 to remove the wallpaper (yes you read that right) he said it was too much trouble, asked for payment for the first two rooms, then abruptly left. I will not be using Elgie Gibons for other jobs.

+ -1 moreI got his name from Daly's Wallcoverings, where we purchased our wallpaper. Elsie came out in early July to give me an estimate. I got three estimates and his was in the middle. However, he was the most impressive in terms of his attitude. I looked for him on Angies List and though he was listed, there were no reviews, but I decided to go with him anyway. On Tuesday, July 21, he showed up promptly at 8:30. It took him about 8 hours, he cleaned up his mess, and left. There were no problems and his bid was right on target. The work was fantastic, in fact I had to ask him where the seams were because I couldn't see them. My wife is very particular and she gave him an "A". He was very professional and I would recommend him to anyone.
Description of Work: He removed the old wallpaper from our front entryway and a long hallway, patched the drywall, removed all the debris, and put up new wallpaper. There were many nooks and crannys (4 bedroom doors, 1 bathroom door, 1 closet, and two turns in the hall)
