American Home Painting

We knew we can't have the whole house painted so we gave them okay to paint for one day at agreed upon price with 2 painters. We gave them the priorities as to which rooms to paint. My mistake was that I didn't have the time to pull nails and spackle so they did that. They lost time doing that and blow drying those spackles. Once they started to paint, it went fast but the dark walls, they had to coat twice and even 3 times. When the time ran out at the end of the day, I had a choice to have them comeback for a full day or half day to finish absolutely the minimum that my wife wanted. I talked to Damon and he asked the painter to finish one wall on Overtime basis. Damon said he will have to charge me more ... but in the end, he decided not to charge me extra. That was a relief. His painters were methodical and clean up completely, including outlet covers ... they washed them clean and put them back. They did a super job and my wife loved it.

Damon, Alex and Renee were all very nice and the paint looks incredible. We went over everything in detail and they made sure everthing was covered up and finished quickly. They showed up on time and were easy to talk to. They did everything we asked and took great care while doing it. Our loft has a 20 foot ceiling and high windows are hard to access. They did not use scaffolding, but managed to do a great job getting the hard to reach places with just an extension ladder. We removed all the blinds (9 total) to make it easier for the guys to work. A few of the hinges had been left in the up positions and were not painted. Not a big deal as we got those with the paint they left us upon reinstalling of the blinds. Overall very clean lines and no over-spray/paint. Many thanks to Damon for letting us borrow the extension ladder to reinstall the blinds. If you hate it when contractors don't clean up after themselves, don't worry about AHP. It was like they were never there after the work was done. Thanks!

For those not into reading long reviews, these guys rock and you should totally hire them! If you want more, read on...From the initial estimate Damon was super professional, he spent the time to look at everything and asked a lot of questions which made me feel comfortable with his estimate being what the final charge would be. And while he was a little hire (couple hundred) than the other guys, he was way more thorough. We had bought a new house (new to us, built in 1940's) and hated all the colors it had. We also wanted to add some beadboard to the dining room and Damon helped us get a carpenter to do the job. Since we were paying a mortgage and rent we had a tight timeline we wanted to keep to, and to get all the other stuff done in time (cabinet install, insallation, HW floor refinished and a number of other things) Damon's team all came in on a Saturday before Easter to really knock some stuf out. They were very consious of our needs and Alex (main guy that worked on the house) was awesome! Everyone we have had over has really commented on the paint job and how professional it looks. It really made the house feel completely different and is the upgrade we have done that has has the most "bang for the buck!". I would recommend these guys to any friend or family member that needs a paint job, so you shuold definitely call them!

I had a great experience working with Damon and his crew (Alex and Rene). They kept me informed of what was happening at each stage of the process, they kept the work site clean, and the house looked great when they were finished. Plus, Damon charged me the price that he originally quoted me even though the house ended up requiring more prep work than he had anticipated.

We wanted to paint over the ten old 1980's "oak print" doors and frames to a more modern looking white. I did one myself and it took 3 days & was a real pain. When I called Damon at American Home Painting, he said he could do it in 2 days later that week! His estimate was very reasonable so we gave the go-ahead. They arrived Thursday morning and went straight to work. His crew, Alex and Rene, are highly skilled and incredibly fast! Despite us adding some work ( a couple of walls and a ceiling) they were finished by 5pm Friday. Personally I am still stunned at all they were able to do in such a short time: 10 doors including frames, two high ceiling living room walls, and the family room ceiling. And with really great quality. We couldn't be happier, and we'd definitely recommend them again!

The entire process with this company was positive. The weather challenges that can occur when painting a home with wet weather was handled on time, and done correctly.

A WONDERFUL experience from start to finish! I called Damon on a Wednesday to have him give us a bid for painting our living room and hallway, both the walls and ceilings. I liked Damon right away--he is very friendly and professional and offered to come over that same afternoon to give us a bid. We liked him even more in person! He took a lot of time to inspect our walls and, especially, our ceiling (we had had the popcorn texture removed) and to speak with us about how we would like the finish to look. His bid was very fair for the work involved and he offered to drop by the following day to do a test patch on the ceiling so that we could OK the look. Damon fit us in very quickly. After doing the test patch on Thursday, he and his team came the following Monday and spent the day mending the walls/ceiling very carefully. They even managed to get the ceiling primed and a first coat of paint on the walls & ceiling that day. I was BLOWN AWAY when I got home from work to see all that they had accomplished in a day! The work looked beautiful!! Damon came the next day to do a second coat of paint and finish the job. He even offered to touch up the lines of an old paint job that I had done on an adjoining wall. He left our house very clean and it looked like a new room. The end result LOOKS FANTASTIC and we are so thrilled with the work that Damon & American Home Painting did for us. They were so fast, thorough, clean, friendly and professional. We were very well taken care of as customers. WE WOULD HIRE HIM AGAIN IN A SECOND! [p.s.--If you have a dog and are worried about having workmen in your home, Damon's your guy! He loves dogs (and is a dog owner) and was wonderful with our crazy lab/golden mix who absolutely adored him. I took that as a good sign and was not disappointed!]

Damon did a lovely job painting our living room. The lines are beautifully crisp and straight. He was pleasant to have in the house, and cleaned up nicely afterward. I'll definitely contact him again for future painting needs.

The wainscoting and the walls look great! Damon was very detailed oriented and made our house look amazing!

Damon and his crew from American Home Painting were amazing - that?s all I can say! Okay, I can definitely say more than that... Price - Damon came in 33% less than two other paint bids and at the same price as a one man crew, so his pricing is more than fair. In fact, he got the raw end of the deal on this paint job because it was so large and had so many factors, and yet, he still only charged me what we agreed to. You don?t have to be worried about that ?gotcha? moment, like with so many other contractors. Quality - The job that Damon and his crew did was fantastic. It was a really big job, with a lot of little pieces, so the opportunity for things to go wrong was pretty big. I?d say there were probably 4 paint drips on the trim/walls overall, which is pretty impressive given the amount of square footage that they covered. And they were quick about fixing anything I pointed out. The other thing with Quality is that Damon had to come in after I had hired my step-dad to do the prep work. If you get anything out of this review, I want it to be two things - you should hire Damon and his crew AND don?t hire family to work on your house. Damon had to go back and re-prep or fix a lot of things my step-dad did to make sure the job was done well. And he did it without complaint. Responsiveness - Damon must be glued to his phone. The man returns texts so quickly. And at all hours of the day or night. With full and complete texts! He returns e-mails right away, also. Top marks on responsiveness. Punctuality - Our project had a short, short time-frame because the floor guys were coming the next week. Damon and his crew moved heaven and earth to get the job done before the floor guys came. Professionalism - Not only is Damon professional, but his crew is also professional and polite. On the crew I spoke with George the most (who is awesome). If you can get George on your crew, you are in for a good job and good communication. You could tell that all of these guys really wanted to do a great job and treated the house with respect. Patience - I added this one to the list of Angie?s List criteria. When it came to picking paint colors, I struggled A LOT. At last count, I had 25 different cans of paint samples for ONE ROOM. Damon was so patient and cheerful, even after I changed my mind on the bathroom color after they painted the first coat. Summary - I know this won?t adequately convey how much you should hire Damon, but I?ve had a lot of paint contractors (and contractors in general) in my house - when you get one that has his stuff together as much as Damon does, you need to jump on it. He?ll be my go-to guy for any future job.

I am extremely happy with the job he did, and he was so enjoyable to work with. I can't recommend Damon highly enough!

He was very responsive to our initial request for a bid over email and later he also kept me updated through text messages with photos of the work. On the days he worked for us, he called me in the morning to update me on what time he would arrive. The first day he toured the house with me marking all the spots we needed work with painter's tape and talking over possibilities as we walked. Both he and his assistant George were friendly and professional, they were both great with my kids which was a BIG plus for us! Also we had had the carpets cleaned the day before they started work and they were VERY clean and careful with their drop cloths and masking. They completed the work in two days. One area ended up needing an additional coat of paint. When we called him on the weekend, he agreeded to come back on Monday to add a coat. The work is excellent and we've already recommended him to two other friends.

.Talked to Damon in summer of 2011 and We made an appointment to meet at my house at a certain time. I took the day off to meet him. He did not show up, no call or anything. He sent me an email later and said "I didn't make it by today, didn't think we had a specific time".He called me a few days later while I was out of town and said "i'm at your house in your back yard getting an estimate". That's unethical and it's trespassing. I decided to give him another chance this year to give me an updated bid. We made an appointment for an early morning, Again, I took the day off work. Late the night before, he sent me an email saying he would have to cancel. I responded that I would need his services and no need to reschedule. I can't trust a company to paint my house on schedule if they miss 2 appointments. Very unprofessional.

This is the second time we've used this company. This time I wanted to re-paint my office. I loved the job they'd done on it previously, but I decided I needed a lighter color for my work space.Damon was great about scheduling our small project around numerous conflicts in my schedule, and the actual painting took one day. I am THRILLED with how it looks. As always, the attention to detail is impressive. The crisp lines where the darker wall color meets the white ceiling--amazing. And with the (more expensive) no-VOC paint, one could hardly detect any paint odor after a day. Damon and his employees are always professional and pleasant. I would use them again and recommend them to anyone.

Damon and his crew arrived on time on the date agreed on and got the job done as promised. I am very happy with the quality of the work and was impressed with the professionalism of his crew. The drywall repairs were all made as agreed and are of very good quality. I asked Damon if he would come back and touch up the paint if there was any damage after new counter tops were installed. There were a couple of spots that needed attention and came back and took care of them. I am very satisfied with the work and highly recommend American Home Painting.

Damon came out and gave us a very professional, fair bid on our project. We happen to chose someone else for this job but would hire him without hesitation in the future.

We were very impressed with how professional and thorough American Home Painting was with their service. They did exactly what they said they were going to do and finished ahead of schedule. Damon was punctual to the meeting at our home to provide a quote. It wasn't the absolute cheapest quote but it was more than fair. He was very professional and I felt at ease with him and his expertise. They were able to squeeze us in to their schedule as we had a rush job trying to get our house on the market. The painting crew arrived on time and Damon walked through and explained the entire job to them in detail. They got to work right away and worked diligently to complete the job in good time. They even offered to fix a few flaws that the previous painters had done. The job they did was flawless! They completely cleaned the job site and were very good about protecting my floors, railings, etc. I would hire this company again in a heartbeat.

The work went very well. Damon was very professional, fair, and good to work with. I added some scope to the project which he did at a fair and reasonable price. The work areas were cleaned up each day, which I appreciated.

My home was built in 1946. Over the years, the paint from different jobs had built up and the exterior looked uneven and layered, especially on two sides of the house. Damon and his crew pressure-washed and scraped the siding in accordance with the lead paint guidelines and when it appeared that more attention was needed on some of the uneven exterior siding, Damon allowed me to work with him to fix this in a way that was going to fit into my budget. He used a certain type of primer that would fill in some of the areas that needed to be evened out. Additionally, the wood trim around the windows needed some protection to prevent rot and a bonding material was used that will give longer life to the trim. With two coats of the finest paint on top, the siding and window trim looked fantastic. Damon was available and the crew was reliable and on time. We were fortunate to have a week of sunny weather (even hot) and the job was done in a week. I am so pleased with the end result and would highly recommend Damon and American Home Painting for interior and exterior painting.

I have yet to hear back from them. I will be trying to contact them again.

The house was pressure washed on a Friday, giving it a weekend to dry. Monday and Tuesday were spent on scraping and sanding the areas that needed to be prepped. Two different primers were applied Tuesday late, allowing them to dry overnight. Wednesday and Thursday were used to tape , cover and start painting. The proch and trim completed Friday morning. Damon did notice that one of the fascia boards did have dry rot in and contacted a carpenter who was abe to come out and replace it so it could be primed and painted and replaced while his crew was here.

Damon and his crew were at our house shortly after we signed the proposal to do the pressure washing prior to painting. We'd hoped that the painting would have been started right away, but due to the terrible weather we had this spring, they had to wait until predicted weather was "no rain" for days and they wanted to be sure the wood was completely dry. Once the painting got started, they finished the project in 3 1/2 days. We got a little curve thrown at us with a slight downpour one day so they dwelled on covered areas and it cut the day short. Two of his crew worked Saturday to catch up on the trim painting. Safety was a big concern of theirs and the crew was very careful when on the roof to paint the dormers. Damon helped me change out some door trim that was weather damaged, and he reapired other wood related issues. He and his crew showed amazing attention to detail, and having just finished putting the place back together, installing porch lights, address numbers, hose riacks, I've noticed how not a spot was missed. Our lot was cleaned up every afternoon and all of their equipment was neatly stacked and covered on the deck out of our way. Too, we had cats in the house, and he and the crew were very cautious not to let them outdoors. Damon helped in suggesting accent colors, which worked out great. We were pleased with the results. For an unrelated project from the house, I had asked him about stain for new deck furniture, and he suggested a stain and happened to have a partial can in his van that he gave me, it was exactly what I 'd been looking for. Damon was constantly in contact with us to explain the next procedure, and how they were meeting their planned schedule time. We will surely recommend American Home Painting to all of our friends and family.
